So I was wondering, since the composer(s) have changed over between ME2 and ME3, will the new composer (Clint Mansell), be re-working themes from ME1 and ME2, and attempting to make his music sound similar to the style of the first two games? Or will he be going for his own approach entirely, resulting in a large disjoint in the feel/style of music between ME2 and ME3?
Personally, I feel that it's quite important in a trilogy to preserve certain recurring themes (leitmotifs) throughout, particularly with the last installment.
Was wondering what others thought about this? Would you like a completely new sounding OST, that is a bit more traditional hollywood-esque? Or would you prefer the unusual and unique style of music that we have until this point, identified Mass Effect by?
A question about the soundtrack...

The main theme song of ME will stay the same for sure; however, they are going to re-work and remaster it as they did going from ME1 to ME2 because it needs to sound fresh.
As for the rest of the score, I'm sure Mansell is "reviewing" the previous MEs and getting a feel for what type of music should accompany combat/conversations/dramas/twists and all that.
Edit: Search the ME main theme and ME2 main theme. I love that there is a certain buildup in musical elements going from 1 to 2. Hopefully they add more elements in the ME3 version without overdoing it.

In the GameInformer Podcast they played the reworked theme. It stays true to the past themes while being just a little more epic. I got goosebumps listening to it. No joke.

That's the "Spectre Induction" track from the first Mass Effect score, unless I'm on the wrong one. Any link?

That is indeed 'Spectre Induction' off the Mass Effect 1 OST.
As far as I know, not a single piece of ME3 music has been made available to the public as of yet (beyond about 3 seconds of music in the announcement trailer).

I'm pretty sure it's the same song as in ME1.
I think we heard some of the musical work in the gameplay for ME3. Small bits for some nonetheless.

Hopefully it won't be too different. The soundtrack for the other games was phenomenal. It would be a real shame if they screwed up ME3. The background music can set the whole tone of the game. You wouldn't want to throw Danny Elfman in there.

Mansell better not change the ME sound. It has been defined by Wall and company so he has to work with what he got.
