Title says it all. I know the Tugian Bow is good. Should I still use that for late game? Also what arrows are the most effective? Thanks

My bad. I thought no spoilers allowed was referring to the actual story campaign itself.

Well, it shouldn't be much of a problem to mention a number of bows in a thread that specifically asks for that.
That said, Tuigan is the best bow there is.

Isn't it a case of making the punishment fit the crime:
Fire arrows against Cold critters and trolls, Ice arrows against fire folk, acid arrows against Air critters and trolls, and general damage or bitting  arrows against everyone else. But also you should consider your purse. Buying +4 arrows is not a very good investment, for instance, nor  is wasteing expensive arrows on orc types.

Since there are no Arrows +4, I'm not too worried about him wasting all his money on them (but the point is correct of course). ;P
A very interesting kind of ammunition is also the Arrow of Dispelling, which can be very useful against wizards. Keep in mind though that there are very few of these missiles around, so you'd better only use them if you really consider the situation worth them.

+4= Arrows of Piercing, which are nice if you get them as loot, but which aren't IMHO worth 2,000+ gp per bunch - but then I've never played an Archer Posted Image .

Hey Humanoid_Taifun,

Have you tried the rogue balancing mod version of the assassin? If so, what did you think? I really like it though it feels more like a fighter/thief in some ways and I can't seem to decide if like it or the vanilla assassin.

No, I have not played that part of the mod yet. But I really appreciate that author's work and from what I got from the readme, it looks rather interesting.
Normally an assassin has to move in and out of combat constantly (preferably at several times of his normal speed) for his backstab-delivery-service. With this he gets some in-combat bite as well.
Actually (and without being paid to say so), I might finally get around to trying the kit on my next playthrough (though first I'll have to check what happened in the world of mods while I was gone).

Where have you been bro? At any rate its very well written. Essentially all thieves get to put 3 pips into dual wielding. I've only tried the assassin thus far but assassin still gets X7 backstab multiplier but at leve 16 gets access to death attack in which the enemy has to make a save vs death or be slain immediately. Every 8 levels after that you get more uses of it and the enemy takes a penalty to its save against it. The assassin loses its +1 to hit and damage and instead gets poison expertise. No longer does poison do damage irregardless of save. The enemy has to fail it but as the assassin goes up in levels, just like death attack, the enemy takes a penalty to its save against poisons. Also some of HLAs have been changed. Anyways that's just a few changes. There's a bunch that I haven't even tried yet. But I definitely respect your input on thieves from the many posts you've made so I would love to get your take on it once you get a chance to try it out. Cheers

Thanks for asking, but I guess that would go a bit off topic... Let's just say I did an Irenicus.

Just give me some time to really get home first and make a proper reinstall (because IIRC, my current one is as buggy as the clown).

Alright sounds good man. Hey would the crimson dart be a better ranged weapon for an assassin to use as opposed to the tugian bow? You get the same number of attacks and it's a constant +3. Range isn't as good I suspect.

The Crimson Dart has (like the throwing axe) lesser range than the bow, but deals 5 points of damage on average, while the Tuigan Bow with Arrows +3 will only deal 4,5.
Tuigan has a very clear advantage though - you can choose your ammunition. Tuigan + Acid Arrows means 5,5 Piercing + 2 Acid damage on average. Other options are the Arrows of Dispelling, Arrows of Biting or the Arrows of Piercing (enchantment level +1, btw), which have all been mentioned already. That doesn't necessarily mean it's better, just that it's more versatile.
