For some people, the romance is based more on the past history that Shep has with them, like Garrus and Tali. There's nothing hard to understand about that at all. Both Garrus and Tali have stood by Shep through thick and thin. They've shared intense and intensely personal moments. There's a good solid foundation there. What's hard to understand about that?

No doubt older than you girly. You seem to have a very ideal view of human relationships. Sorry, its not' about riding in on a white horse and saving the princess from the evil Wizard. One of the main components, if not the structure of ALLLLLLLL relationships is
A. Sexual attraction.
B. The other stuff.

I'm 31, girlie doesn't exactly describe me correctly. You still refuse to understand that romance and sexual attraction and compability are not one and the same. One can exist whithout the other, and one can lead to the other though not always and not in any particular order. The fact that I even have to explain this concept to you still makes me wonder how it is this is such a mystery to you.

Some of me bro's have been through tough ****. From when I was a wee' ittle baby to the great being with chest hair now. This is great foundation, but, that doesn't mean I imagine them nude and develop "crushes" .

Theres strong friendships and implausible romances. Guess where Garrus and Tali fall (Not to mention Thane)

Besides... We know of how many out cross alien relationships out of how many tens of billions of sentient beings?

I can't understand the rest of your post, so I'll just respond to this part. A significant number of known couples in the ME universe are cross-species, mostly with asari. This is probably in part because of the total lack of female models of any other race, though.

All I'm saying is that we know maybe 200 different people in the ME universe out of maybe 100.000.000.000.

I would say that romance can easily trigger sexual attraction.

So? That's meaningless since we don't know who of those trillions of people are interested in other species. All we have is a sample and of that sample the number is pretty high.

Well for you, sure. But other players do find that enough to take the plunge. So I'm curious if asari fall into this alien category or if they are human enough for you.

Oh really, lets go down the list.

Common interest? Nope
Common background? Nope
Same cultural norms? Nope
Able to reproduce? Nope
Saved the universe together? Yes.

That's all this relationship has.

and yes, Asari's are "human" enough for me, though its not about being human its about the plausibility of the relationship. With an asari, she just takes your genes and makes more asari's.

This whole thing about Commander Shepard finding Tali appealing, despite her having 3 fingers, her face not being visible and her entire body untouchable (l'est she die from an airborne infection, literally)

Respectfully, I must disagree with the OP on this point.

Humans tend to be physically attractive to each other in their twenties. With passing decades, our features and characteristics that are typically labeled "attractive" by glamor magazines change. Hair thins, skin texture changes, our shapes change. We move less gracefully.

If you are in a committed, loving relationship when those changes occur, that relationship will continue. The relationship continues because you don't see the changes, you continue to see the "person" with whom you fell in love. When you love someone, he gets handsomer the longer you know him; when you detest someone, he gets uglier.

Is it so unreasonable that a Shepard (not yours, obviously) would find a cheerful young woman who is trapped in a suit to be attractive?  So, he can't see her face - he knows that she is loyal, sweet, cute when she curses, and that she thinks he sets the stars in the sky.

Or, if sex appeal is purely your thing, do you honestly believe all those "hot girls" on 1-900 chat lines are really beautiful co-eds with nothing better to do than talk dirty to strangers?  Do the strangers need to see the faces of the "hot girls" before enjoying the naughty talk?

Isn't that similar to talking to a girl in a helmet whose exact features you can't see, but can imagine?

It's just a very insignificant statistical sample.

I'm guess that atmost a few 100 million of people in the ME universe ever get to see other intelligent species.

I apreciate your respect, Sister and thus I will try and respond without my witty comebacks.

Anyways, yes, it is unreasonable, that Commander freaking Shepard would develop a relationship with someone he wasn't initially attracted to. This is straying far from my point. I really don't care too much about the dynamics of alien-relationships. my focus is more on the insanity of it.

I disagree. You don't know that they don't have common interests, and I would argue that the spacer background mirrors both Tali and Garrus'  background while the colonist's might be closer to Thane's. There are definitely parallels there. Furthermore, we don't know enough to say that there are no common cultural norms.

The reproduction I'll give you, but I will say that not all romantic relationships are geared with reproduction in mind. But that doesn't mean it isn't plausible. Quarians and drell are more human like in appearance. All the right stuff looks to be in the right places. The only one that seems like it could be a challenge is Garrus (not that that stopped one of my femSheps from going for it, of course).

OP, this is BSN, and posters here will want to sleep with any organic (or synthetic, see EDI and Legion) creature in the ME universe.

Common interest? Shepard's personal tastes and hobbies are virtually unknown, however, from what we do know; battle, space flight/ships (Tali), sniper rifles (Garrus), love of justice (Either/Paragon), lust for revenge (Garrus/Renegade)
Common background? Spacer Background grew up on ships (Tali), was raised with military values (Garrus), Sole Survivor deals with the loss of his/her team (Arguably both, but especially Garrus)
Same cultural norms? Inconclusive, we haven't seen enough of either species to tell.
Able to reproduce? Nope
Saved the universe together? Yes.

FTFY.

EDIT: Forgot one! And it was my canon Shep's background too, d'oh.

Tali and my shephard:

Common interest?
Quarian plight, quarian/geth conflict, engineering.

Common background?
Eartborn orphan meets newly orphaned quarian.

Same cultural norms?
Sure.... Quarians aren't all that different.

Able to reproduce?
Not important.

Saved the universe together?
Not important either...

That explains some of these topics floating about.

Female turians.. Really guys, really? is that what we need more of in our mass effect series? female turians?

Insignificant, but the only one we have to go on. I only brought it up in response to your original question. Using the 'billions/trillions' argument is just throwing blank numbers around that mean absolutely nothing.

As for pre-spaceflight species, they shouldn't really count against cross-species relationships any more than they should count for them, so they're irrelevant also.

@ Eshaye: I sincerely enjoyed reading your posts. You fought the good fight, but eventually, you have to stop hitting the brick wall. You get nowhere, and it just annoys the wall.

@ King Zeel: Why post in the romance section of the forums if ryou are truly against romance in Bioware games? Seriously? Isn't that like going to a zoo to hunt a tiger?
