Hi,
Does anyone know if the Genesis imports are more stable than the ME1 imports when playing ME2?
I am asking because I played ME2 before I played ME1 - with all DLC installed, and it worked *fine* - I had the occasional keyboard glitch or freeze, but nothing major.
However - importing my now-played ME1-saves into ME2 has been an excercise in annoyance and patience 8and p*ssed-offness) - on average, I have a crash every time somewhere in a fight (game stops responding - screen goes black, normally after using biotics and then shooting at someone).
I suspect this is to do with the import - as I was having issues with ME1 as discussed here - I'd like to do some more ME1 playthroughs, but maybe the Genesis imports would make ME2 less crashprone

The ME1 import crashes may be an issue peculiar to your PC. I've never had any issues.

Nothing to do with import, everything to do with your video drivers, as we previously discussed. The newer the drivers, the more glitches you get with older games such as ME1 and ME2. Nvidia is more guilty of this form of glitching compared to ATI/AMD Radeon series cards.

'k - but I havent upgraded since that other thread, and ME2 worked fine on that driver - the only difference is that my FemShep was an ME1 import.

Flags are flags and it shouldn't make any difference. You may be losing a video card or as Bogs stated the drivers just don't like ME. I have to run the Beta driver that came out before the last Whorl release to get good play for my XP machine. The later driver crashes, the earlier ones for some reason don't give good FPS, but so far the beta is doing ok. Change your drivers and see if you get better result.

Shouldn't doesn't mean it won't ;-)
I think I will hook it up to my debugger, if it allows me to, and see where it pukes. I am aware that flags are flags - at the same time - a game which ran cleanly, but currently won't and the only diff being an ME1 import, points to it being an ME1 issue.
I am curious as to what causes it - and also hoping this issue won't port to ME3 :-)

Have you tried a new game non-import since you started having crash issues??
This would tell you whether it is an import or non-import issue.

Did. havent shot much yet ;-)
//Edit - Actually, I think I will move the save directories, unmap my ME1 saves and regenerate the profile file. That'd make it a cleaner test run.
