Hi, in my first playthrough in ME2 my Female Shepard romanced Garrus (they were likely minded and she was in love wtih him since ME1) .. of course she did his loyalty mission and during the final "suicide" mission Garrus "surprisingly" got killed in action (i thought that doing the loyalty mission helps characters survive but i later learned it isn't the only factor) .... poor Jasmin was quite heart broken after the mission indeed XD

Point is .. is this going to have any impact in ME3 ... will it really matter if she stayed loyal to Garrus memory or she could just go and romance somebody else like Garrus never existed and it makes no difference what so ever .. is there going to be a ceremonial funeral for Garrus on his home planet which the Jasmin could attend when she goes there to rally the Turians aganist the Reapers .. will the turians treat her differently in respect of Garrus memory  .. will she meet any of his family !!! .. i'm just wondering about the possilbities ... but the main question i'm hoping to get an answer for is .. will it make any difference !!?

And the same question goes for any other romance mate that died in ME2.

All of that would be very cool - but honestly, don't get your hopes up. On a reasonable level - the amount of material that would be required to cater to each LI if they were to die would eat up a lot of resources.

On a another level - all of that would take away from the pew pew.

I'd be surprised if the subject of a dead LI comes up at all... I bet most people reload from the last save file if their LI dies anyway =P

Some killed them off on purpose like on Vermire.

Good question though.  Guess we will have to wait and see.

Is it March yet?

I understand that .. but really .. how many LIs could die in ME2 and are already confirmed to be playable in ME3 .. so far Garrus and Tali .. i know other characters might appear .. but the only ones confirmed to be playable as squadmates in ME3 are those two ... having some material for them in case they were LIs in ME2 but died on the suicide mission won't really require too much resources.

Sure .. but characters that died in ME2 during a playthrough will stay dead if you use that save in ME3 .. so if some of them were LIs it should really count and mean something .. fact is .. you can always reload and change things in ME2  .. but that's not an excuse to ignore possilbities in ME3.

Yeah, there's so many variables, like what if you were in a relationship with Kaidan in ME1, got into a relationship with Garrus in ME2, and then Garrus died? Will Kaidan even mention it? I doubt it.

Then you'll have to find a new mate.

Unless you're a swan. They mate for life. Swan Shepards have it tough.

Sure it'd be awesome if ME3 took it into account, but it's difficult to expect it after there was no mention of their death in ME2 or the DLC .-.

An impact to the whole game maybe not, but at least a flashback before the final battle, like the one Shepard has in ME2 if s/he remained loyal to his/her ME1' LI would be nice. That, and maybe having a random personal effect of the fallen LI in the cabin. I think that it's doable...

Yeah, that's exactly what i had in mind... nothing too big .. just a quick flashback or a quick cutscene ... making your shepard stay loyal to their ME1 LI payed off that much .. so why not in ME3 .. only difference is that they would be dead instead of away from your shepard.

Jack did always threaten to haunt you if she died. This makes it seem altogether logical.

I think it shouldn't be very hard to do something like this, not only for the LIs but also for other fan favourites that could die in SM. Letting you talk to a family member of Garrus or having a short cutscene showing a funeral for Mordin when you arrive to Salarian homeworld shouldn't require that much effort and considering how Casey said they don't want to cheat players of content just because they did things differently, it would make sense. I doubt they would do it though.

I'm more interested in if ME1 LI will know if Shepard "cheated" on them with character who died during SM later. Not that I'm worried about that, I'm just curious because this is the exact situation from my "worst import" save
