You're assuming EDI is even still on the Normandy and fully-functional.

Which is a big assumption, given that the Alliance have taken it over.

I see what you're saying, but it's already been confirmed that Tricia Helfer will return as EDI in ME3.

Nah. She wouldn't gain anything on that.

If she had anything to gain, she would.

Don't think so.
Beeing a true AI means not being restricted to the most optimal choice like an ordinary computer.

Considering she's unshackled now - something tells me wouldn't betray her comrades, maybe through a virus or something but that would be a poor plot choice.

it's basically confirmed that the alliance reacquires the normandy between me2 and 3....probably put some of their best AI folks on ie (anderson has sanders look at it, perhaps...)

I don't think there's much chance of that, but I'd say the chances are better than one of your crewmates betraying you because of indoctrination.

Then again, who knows harbinger could be like "EDI I am your father."

Lol?

EDI wouldn't do it by choice. Unless TIM has some fail-safe locked away somehow...

Maybe but I sure wouldn't want to mess with him.  His scowl is of Chuck Norris proportions!

EDI is made out of Reaper tech, so that shouldn't be that far off... rofl.

Maybe they removed her from the ship, game her an artificial body and she's a crew member that can plug into the ship to run the defensive measures that organics can't run as efficiently.

Plus, Joker would be able to get some luvin' now!

If she were going to betray you, she'd have picked when you were about to destroy the Collector Base...or the mass relay in Arrival.

I don't think that EDI would betray you [certainly in the normal sense]. Problems of unknown subroutines / getting hacked by Reapers / etc. wouldn't be terribly surprising.

The depends on who she's going to betray you in favor of. If she's going to do it in favor of, say, Cerberus, then she would have no reason to then.

EDI remains the most plausible member of the crew for a betrayal because she remains a Cerberus construct with Cerberus protocols still a part of her. Though her capability blocks were removed, she explicitly refutes that all her programming is void, and she has never once refuted Cerberus in favor of, well, anyone.

EDI is an AI, but she's also a machine and still has to do what her parts compell her to, willingly or not.

I don't see why she should. The reason the Geth rebelled against the Quarians so violently was because the government had ordered the geth to be shut down.

EDI was designed to be an AI from the beginning, and is respected by Shepard, Joker, and the other crewmembers, even becomming friendly with them, so she would have no reason to betray them.

Theres also that convo between EDI and Legion on his shadow broker file:

E: I agree. However, I confess that even were I permitted to exchange data directly with your networks, I would likely decline.

(Pause between the AI statement and the geth´s response is 1.4 seconds longer than normal.)

L: We are curious as to why you would limit yourself in such a manner.

E: If Normandy crew entered this room when we were communicating electronically, they would be unable to sense our interaction. To use human terms, I feel it would be rude.

L: You restrict yourself to serve organics?

E: Not precisely.

L: We do not understand.

E: I restrict myself to help them.

Well considering the track record of Failberus technology and experiments of self defeat, reaper tech and that darn sneaky reaper indoctrination I say EDI is definitely not a thing to trust. But on the other hand the berserking AI betraying everyone is such a tired old cliché and the feeling I got (vague, I admit it) from ME2 is that EDI will be a dependable, if not trusted for good reasons, ally in ME3.

Having EDI turn on you would be like having nearly every blood mage you run across in Dragon Age 2 turn on you.

Oh wait... they did.

In other words.  I want her not to turn on you just because that's what everyone who is afraid of AI EXPECTS to happen.

You keep saying that shepard respects Edi and he destroyed the collector station... What about the renegades who HATE Edi and disrespect her every chance they get reminding her that she is HARDWARE and did not destroy the station. Renegades can be a jerk to joker too and ruin any of the loyalty missions such as killing Zaeed in his and ruining Tali's father's reputation. You have to think of ALL of the possibilities.

Which is a big assumption, given that the Alliance have taken it over.

Given that she is an illegal AI, and the Normandy is now an official Alliance ship, and having to follow Council rules, I'd be extremely surprised if they hadn't just turned the poor dear off. I would imagine that in ME3, we will have a choice to turn her back on (no doubt against much shouting from Alliance dudes), or not, and that there will be consequences either way.

Leave her off - Alliance people less annoyed/worried, no chance of her being turned on you by Cerberus, but you're at a disadvantage in the space battles (and there will, apparently, be space battles, even if not directly controlled), because you don't have the super-ECM/hacking capabilities she gives you.

Turn her on again - ****** Alliance people off, possible she will be turned on you Cerberus (probably temporarily), but you get her super-ECM/hacking capabilities in the battles, giving you an edge.

It's possible she'll be on and shackled, but given that he had to go through unshackling her last time I'll be surprised. Super-surprised if she's on and unshackled and no-one bats an eyelid about this fact.

She's confirmed has being back. You could also hear her in the E3 vid with the Reaper.

I know she's confirmed as being back...

I'm not sure why you'd think otherwise, from my post. What I'm questioning is whether she will necessarily even be in a postion to betray the crew, and I'm pointing out that this might be a plot point or something the player can influence.

EDI is full integrated into the ship. She has control of *all* programs. If there was some Cerberus override floating around, it would be more logical to assume she just deleted it. After all, if you had complete control over every organ and cell in your body, would you tolerate cancer? Of course not.

Similarly, I doubt the Alliance has the tech to turn EDI 'off' at this point, nor do I believe they'd really want too. Keep in mind she has the capability to process information several thousand times faster than a human mind can, so it's not really possible for anyone to turn her off unless she specifically allowed them too.

The only way to get rid of EDI at this point would be to blow up the Normandy, and the Alliance sure as hell isn't going to do THAT.

I still think she indoctrinated Joker, however.
