Hello to all,

I just purchased from direct2drive Mass Effect 2 and cannot run it.  I am getting the following error in a window titled "MassEffect2.exe - Bad Image":

"C:\\Windows\\system32\\d3dx9_38.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

When I click OK, a tiny window pops up titled "Library load fail..." with text "d3dx9_38.dll".  When I click OK, a Mass Effect 2 Error window pops up saying "Error:  There is a problem with your game's setup.  Please reinstall your game."

Sombody help me to fix this error, Thanks advance.

It's already been fixed and discussed here many, many, many hundreds of times, all well covered by a proper search engine such as Google or Yahoo, as you probably already learned ten days ago when you brought the subjects of some other Dx9 library DLL files up on the forums; nothing new has changed to the solution since then.

Is there some other reason for you to have started a new thread rather than return to either of the comments you posted about this subject previously?

Looking at his previous opsts, he gave links to non-MS sites as a source for his DirectX. Wouldnt be surprised if the copy he downloaded was actually full of malware, instead of solving his problem.

Based on the month of June to date, very low readership will be the situation from Friday through Monday, literally a "four day weekend" when only searches in the archives can be depended on for answers. This author did not choose to return to his / her thread for clarification, and I suspect will not ever choose to now.
