Batarian. Possibly vorcha, if done well, but I find that one less likely.

Also Blasto.

Batarian? Sure, would be interesting (even if I dislike them as a species.. it would still be cool).

Vorcha? Uhhh... no... The Normandy doesn't need feces on its floor. :?

The same "in-game combat" where enemies magically develop biotic barriers and armor by increasing the difficulty in the menu? ;)

Umm... nice argument? Rephrasing my point is nice, but it doesn't make the vorcha any more viable as squadmates.

What exactly is your point? By nature all the disposable mooks Shepard faces are weaker than him and his squad. That has no bearing on a Vorcha,Batarian or whatever else becoming a squadmate. If a member of a fragile weakling race like the Quarians can be a squadmate than so can one of the Vorcha who rival the Krogans in ferocity and survivabilty

having a batarian on my squad in ME3 would be like having legion on my squad in ME2. ive already been down that road.

how about a squadmate that has a sense of humor. its always about being the biggest bad ass, but id rather have a squadmate that is more along the lines of will ferrel then zeadd masoni. i suppose thats becaus its really easy to write dialogue for a guy like zaeed, but if i wanted something more, im gonig to need better writers, and really only will farrel can write for will farrel. ill have to watch the voice cast to see if will gets added later.

Those other races have military hierarchy which define their lore-based strength in combat, and why you get certain individuals as squadmates. Pulling a Legion or Samara on a vorcha would make no sense since they have no advanced troopers whatsoever, and have only served hindering cannon fodder roles in ME2.

You never got a basic geth platform as a squadmate, you got a unique representative with ten times the computing power and specific build for high-risk missions. You didn't get an Eclipse merc for a squaddie, you got a Justicar who single-handedly decimated squadrons of given mercs. You didn't get a salarian engineer who maybe spawns a few combat drones before dropping dead, you got a former STG operative with a genius' IQ. And that quarian was also one of the smartest (if I remember correctly) of her race and had the best combat training available.

We've seen the "primes" as foes. Take the Blood Pack leader, or Tela Vasir, or the Centurion-class enemies. Those won't need much stats-tweaking to become teammates.

Now, where do vorcha fit in that demographic? Do they have some type of hyper-caste yet unrevealed? Wouldn't that be something...

I'd be against having a Vorcha squadmate simply because Shep couldn't have an intelligent conversation with him. There would be no room for character development, and the Vorcha wouldn't be able to offer any deep insight into either himself or his culture. He'd have no usefulness outside of combat.

What we need is a genetic hybrid supersoldier based on human/krogan/drell/turian genetics.

There really aren't any races that I could think of being good squadmates aside from Blasto...Wouldn't it be awesome if one of the Hanar you've met was a top secret Spectre that even you don't have clearance to know about. Blasto could be the perfect cover. Who would ever suspect that there was an actual Hanar Spectre?

A Protoss squadmate. Some badass like Zeratul, y'know?

Prothean discovered in suspended animation in some derelict ship, possibly a scientist that fled from Ilos in the hope they could find help or sanctuary elsewhere. Instead, their ship drifted aimlessly in space, and the Prothean was forced to go into cryogenic stasis to sustain its life until it ran groundside. Like a really sophisticated 'lost at sea' scenario.

All I want is a Batarian squadmate.

Don't care about the other races we haven't had a squadmate of yet.

I agree with having a squadmate, who actually has a sense of humor. And not "One less to worry about!" type of humor, but a real wit.

Mordin was funny, but mostly outside of the missions. And he rather was funny unintentionally.

Lets face it, writing lines for badasses is few times easier than writing some really funny ones. And it's quite safe place to go with the writing.
Garrus is a badass, Wrex is one, the same with Zaeed and Grunt. The only character who tries to be funny is Seth Green, but he is not a squaddie.

Prothean would be fun to meet and talk to in ME3, but the only option for one to exist is through Ilos-like crio chambers. It would be in no shape to fight or even communicate with the team aside from Shepard. And as a sole survivor out of entire species he would be a pretty big downer. ;-)

Maybe we could get a Vorcha who is different to the ones we saw in ME2- smarter and more skilled. We know so little about the Vorcha that BioWare could easily add info about them that would make the squadmate make sense- perhaps he could be the leader of the vorcha's  very military based biotic religious order (yes I'm making this up) etc. etc.

I am yet to see a Batarian that I didn't want to punch in the face.
I'd love to see a Hanar, but I doubt they would be of much use, unless it's Blasto of course.
I'd love to see an Elcor in action, not sure how the combat would work though.
I wouldn't mind to have a Volus, as long as he's the Biotic God! :D

Batarian.

It would be cool to see another side of them besides the one dimensional villains they are usually portrayed as. It could also present a lot of fun dialogue if they have Shepard's relationship with his Batarian squadmate be a little tension-filled, with neither one fully trusting or accepting the other at first. (particularly with colonist or War Hero Sheps)

A Volus squadmate would also be fun. Something along the lines of Mordin, with a tech/scientist background.

Along with the obvious tension between Shepard and a Batarian squad member, it could also be used to help expand on the Human-Batarian antagonism.  Adding a Batarian has the potential for a very deep side story.

I don't want any new squad mates beyond Vega (don't even want him). The rest of the squad should be nothing but returning squad mates.

I think Bioware already said that that is the case.
However it doesn't hurt to just speculate :)

One of the vids, they stated that the squad size would be smaller then in ME2, Vega would be introduced to people new to the series and with all the comfirmed squad mates it doesn't give much room to add.

Thank goodness. Tired of meeting new people when the old ones are still alive and kicking and should be there.
