I've not seen nor read about anything such as that. When you have registered the game in your profile**, and completed a standard problem report, perhaps someone such as Bogs may be able to help you. But don't skip the description of how to report that is pinned on top as a Sticky.

** Oops!

Edited.  I did think I was in the ME2 forum when I wrote that, as Bogs has surmised, sorry about the goof-up.

Without a proper error report like what Gorath mentioned, all I can suggest is to try another save game, and/or reinstall.
Note: You cant register ME1 on these forums, I assume Gorath was thinking of ME2 when he wrote that.

Now it seems to be that i fixed that problem by running as administrator and running compatability mode, but now its the Ilos elevator that i keep getting stuck on, and my screen goes black and my computer wont respond like with Virmire. How do you send an error report? sorry if the question sounds dumb but im new.

There is a thread at the top called "How to report a problem with your PC version of Mass Effect 1". Follow the instructions listed within.

Okay so I'm on the pc.

System Details:
Processor: Intel® Core™2 CPU 6420 @ 2.13GHz 2.14 GHz
RAM: 6.00 (4.00 usable)
64-bit operating system
no pen or touch

Problem Details:
Well my screen just goes black and sometimes my monitor even goes into the standby mode like when you've just turned off your computer.
It happens everytime i try to use the Ilos elevator after you are already inside the big huge door or complex that Saren went in.
Well i seem to have tried just going in the elevator and not doing anything sometimes the screen goes black sometimes not. When i hit the button to get it moving sometimes the screen goes black immediately or sometimes like half way don but i've never gone all the way down so i dont know how long it takes to get down.

XP/64? Vista/64? Win7/64?
Video Card make, model, and driver version?
Game patch level? Disk, EA download, Steam download, Other type of download?
Audio device and driver?

Basically, I need all of the information thats listed under the "Summary" section when you bring up the ME configuration utility.
I also need the version of the 4 .exe files as they are listed under the "Game" section in the same config utility.

First thing I would suggest is downloading and installing the 1.02 patch. Link is in the stickied thread at the top of the forum.
If that doesnt work, then download and install a different Catalyst display driver from ATI's website. A general rule of thumb is the newer the driver, the less compatible it is with older games such as ME. Revision 10.6 should be OK. You can get your revision by opening up the Catalyst control centre and checking under Help.

Ok ive fixed the Virmire grey screen but it still goes black at random moments. Now like i posted in the Mass Effect 2 forum where a guy had the random black screen problem could it be because of my Drivers? version is 8.681.0.0

The 8.xxx number isnt much use, as its a number designation by Windows. The Catalyst version as designated by ATI is the number thats needed.

OK, you need to go to ATI's website and download an updated driver for your video card.
10.6 is known to be good, newer drivers might work, but there may have been tweaks added to optimise newer games, that wuill have a detrimental effect on older games such as ME.
