Jesse or Casey mentioned that they want the first hanar specter to show up in the game... I must say that would be pretty cool, since I heard about him on the news broadcasts of ME2, not to mention, he's sharing a nice background with Shepard... the first Spectre agents of their races
Only if Blasto says "Enkindle This!"
While....whatever those big stupid jellyfisn call running...(What DO they call it?....anyway) and firing multiple ARs at a reaper.
IF that takes place and My Shepard witnesses it..... well he just may have to go out in a Blaze of glory with him.

After you meet the Council for the first time in ME1, Shepard can ask Anderson about the Spectres and he says the latest Alliance estimate puts the number below 100.
So yeah, if they're the most important intelligence/military operatives in the galaxy, we should be seeing and hearing more about them than we have.
But what's bothering me even more is the serious lack of N7 marines. So far, we've seen only one active N7 operative and one former one (Anderson) and read about another (Kai Leng). If these guys are the best the Alliance has, why wasn't the original Normandy's marine detail comprised solely of them?
I know it's just a marketing gimmick, but it's really annoying how the N7 armor is only ever worn by Shepard and even his status in the Alliance military is unclear. It's almost like Shepard = N7, although it's established in the lore that N7 is a MVC and not Shepard's personal coat of arms. Considering that it's the most iconic logo in the ME franchise, they should be using it properly.
You realize that not all Special ops soldiers especially in real world miilitaries aren't really known. I bet you that most of the Spectres likely don't have public ceremonies. Shepard was just pretty famous. Hell even Tela Vasir says that Shepard is one of the most famous. Also Spectres jobs usually deal with threats that could end the lives of millions possibly billions.
How well do you think the Galactic community will respond to hearing everyother month that a planet could have been hit by a super virus or the Galactic economy almost crashed because of some hackers? They would be scared ****less and the Council wants to keep up that aura of peace that the Council supposedly had.
This goes for N7 marines. They are close to blackops operatives so they have to operate everywhere the Alliance calls them. To say that N7 soldiers and Spectres should be seen a lot more or you should hear about them more is absurd. There are classified missions for a reason.

Wrex is the only one that could be a Spectre and we all know the Awesomeness will implode the Universe. Its a well known fact actually.thetruefreemo wrote...

The VS doesn't count, as it's more likely Shep's been stripped of his status after Arrival, and they've been tasked to keep an eye on him. These plans would undoubtably have been altered after the Reapers attack en masse.

Let's not forget that the galactic community encompasses at least a dozen species' homeworlds and many colony worlds. There are billions upon billions of inhabitants in Citadel space. Around 100 or so "best of the best" military/police/security types isn't really all that many, I think. And surely not all their assignments are of the "impending galactic doom" level of importance.
Yep although a reaper invasion should necessitate them working together. I hope we see more of them or at least here of what they're doing in ME3.
Those numbers indicate exactly how good one has to be to be a spectre and why I think virmire survivor just doesn't cut it as spectre material.

I'd like ME3 to be the first time in Council history where all the Spectres in the galaxy are called together to fight as a team. Defend the Citadel or something.
In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, a Spectre's light!
Okay, not really, but the movie came out so there.

Read this wiki of Nihlus Kryik. His origins aren't too dissimilar to Ashley or Kaidan. Nihlus was a talented grunt in the military not special forces but he impressed Saren all the same.

I reckon Nihlus sounds a bit better that that and based on the characterisation of Saren in the novels anyone who impresses him would have to be exceptional.
And I'd like to meet a Salarian spectre.

Well, we kinda in a way already did through Captain Kirrahe, Commander Rentola, and Mordin.
They were Salarian STG, with Mordin being former Salarian STG.
The STG isn't too far from what the Spectres are, since hell, the Spectres were based on the STG anyway.

Yeah I know, Mordin would have been a great spectre. Still want to meet a proper Salarian spectre though.

Garrus was a grunt in the Turian military and he was asked to be a Spectre candidate. Its not really specific what impresses Spectres but possible candidates can range from grunts to badass special forces operatives.

100 doesn't seem like all that much considering that they have to patrol the whole galaxy. Also Vasir could have betrayed the council considering that as a Spectre, she has access to super classified information and works for the Shadow Broker. I've wanted to see more Spectre's for awhile now. It would be nice if Shepard could get them together into a coherent fighting force. Imagine what even a dozen Spectres could do together.Flashlegend wrote...

I wouldn't really say it's "huge" potential, as the number of active Spectres is pretty low. For some reason, approximately 100 or so is the number banging around in my head, but I can't say why or what the source may be, and I could be way off. Anyways, yeah, most of the Spectres we've met have been some pretty rotten eggs. The VS Spectre may be an attempt to redeem them, but we'll have to see how it goes. Absolutely nothing has been said about meeting any other Spectres in ME3 that I am aware of.
100 spectres? That seems like overkill in numbers. I was thinking 2 dozen at most. And at OP, meting another specre could be nice but it's not like they're walking all over the place. Also, Vasir was not a rogue spectre. I don't recall her betraying the council.

She did what she did because as she said, The Shadow Broker provided her with plenty of information over the years that saved a ton of lives. Due to this, if The Shadow Broker asked her for something, she'd gladly give it.
In this case, the death of T'Soni. So that's why she tried to kill her. But that's hardly betraying the Council as the Council is in no sort of threat whatsoever and if The Shadow Broker asked Vasir to take THEM out, I'm sure that Vasir would give him a big HELL NO and try to chase him down.
Unless she's so greedy that if a proper bounty was put on their heads she's go for it, but we'll never know.
Still, she hated being thought to of betrayed the Council, so no, I don't think she would've.

That actually raises a good point. Will Shepard still be a Spectre? He did kill around 300,000 Batarians, but Saren had killed hundreds of civilians and gotten away with a slap on the wrist. The Batarians aren't a Citadel race, so it's not like Shepard is a traitor. How is it all going to play out. It would really suck to lose your Spectre status because of unavoidable events. I would hate to lose it after regaining it in ME2.landis963 wrote...

I would imagine that even a all Human council would separate themselves from their Alliance ties in a matter like this.
