I hope not. I hate time limits. I'm a completionist and like to explore everything, so having a ticking clock in the background would be annoying.

Yeah, i'm with him^.

It sounds good but would'nt work well for players that like to do everything, sorry mate.

Since this was buried deep deep deep in the forum's nether regions, I thought I'd dig it up just to sign the anti-time limit petition...

There isn't a time limit, but depending on how you prioritize and do your side/main missions some will be auto failed and you can't go back and do them, losing the chance for war assets.

I really hope there isn't a time limit. One of the worst parts about Starcaft 2: Wings of Liberty campaign is that every mission you are rushed to do things. I like to take my time and build up my forces instead of rushing to the goal.

I think I could live with a milestone based system like that used in ME2.

pretty much this, I'd imagine your on the clock remember the reapers are attacking earth, it would make much sense if shepard went on hoildays half way through it

herp derp let's give the players 12 hours to rally every race in the galaxy, because the reapers dont take hundreds of years to wipe out civilizations

/sarcasm

Some dev has promised there is no such thing.
BUT if you skip some side missions and progress in the main quests, you might lose the chance for some side missions you had.

So why do people some people think there should be a time limit?

Well Saren and Collectors couldn't just "blow up the world". They needed to gather resources and prepare and all that. It seems Reapers are just coming to wipe every civilization out without need to plan or stop (though they seemed awfully inefficient in the demo) so I could see more urgent time limit.

But full completion of ME1/2 takes around 40-50 hours, which would be just around 2 days, which I don't think is enough for Reapers to win because it took centuries for them to find every Prothean, so I don't think time limit is needed afterall. Though I would love if the situation got worse and worse the longer you took, if you complete the game in 10ish hours there are a lot more survivors than there are if you take over 50.

Dead Rising is absolutely the best gaming this gen has so I'm definitely not against time limits. I love how it forces quick thinking with heavy consequences and can't stand if Capcom gives up and removes time limit from DR3 (if there will be one)

I''m pro time-limits, but this battle is over. The current generation of RPG fans likes exploring the game at leisure -- terrible role-playing, but most RPG players don't actually care about role-playing.

The last game to try anything like a time limit was Mask of the Betrayer, and after the whining that caused I don't think we'll ever see this feature come back.

I dont want a time limit, doing missions that trigger advances is the preferable route in my book. Though I didnt like how ME2 was split in 2 effectively (get set 1 of squadies, then the next set). ME2 would have been better if you had chosen when to install the reaper IFF as well, my personal opinoin.

This might not be practically relevant, but what preclude having certain missions with time limits for acceptance rather than completion? I remember when I played Dawn of War II last year the story missions never had limitations, but some of the side quests did. They had to completed in a certain number of days and there were consequences for failure and rewards for success. In that case the overall arc of the plot was never tied to a limit but you could miss items and rewards if you didn't prioritize side missions.

I'll grant there isn't a 1 to 1 equivalence here, but I don't see the problem with a little bit of extra challenge to prioritize and plan what one would do. I mean ME3 does cover an ongoing crisis that's about as big and as immediate as can be. Just my two cents anyway.

say no to time limits... a gameplay mechanic that died gloriously some time in the 1990s. may it rot in hell.

And then brought back by Capcom in Dead Rising. The last time I ever bought a Capcom game .<_<
