Do you hope that Ash is still a sniper?

Ashley is in a unique position of being the only ME1 squadmate who could use more than two weapons. I'm hoping that she has the same weapon loadout as Garrus since those were the two weapons that I often used with her. I'd sometimes give her shotguns but Ash never used pistols.

From what I understand about the weapon system in ME3 everyone can uses every weapon (baring Heavy weapons) and you choose what each characters loadout is.

I hope she will have her original gear available, meaning rifile, sniper and shotgun (and pistol). But since it seems that the squaddies' limitation of having only two weapons is still there, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm sure she'll be using an assault rifle, not so sure about the other weapon though.

Does this apply to squadmates as well? Has this been confirmed or is it a guess?

Ashley doesn't really feel like a sniper to me. Assault rifles are almost a given. As for a second weapon, I'm not sure how practical this is but I wouldn't mind her being armed with some sort of heavy weapon. Would have to be balanced of course.

Edit: Maybe the grenade or missile launcher.

I thought that was just for Shepard but being able to choose different weapons for squaddies would be great. Some dev confirmation would be nice right about now. If you are right, Ash and Garrus will still use sniper rifles, Tali and Jack will still use shotguns and Liara will still use pistols. Vega... I have no idea what he uses.

I believe they said Shepard can use any weapon in the game no matter his/her class but different classes will be more effective with different weapons. Example, an Engineer is not going to be too good at using the assault rifle. I cannot remember if this will hold true for the rest of the squad.

Nope. That just applies to Shepard.

I would think Ashley will have either Assault Rifle and Sniper, or Assault Rifle and Shotgun. Though I think we already have a token sniper in Garrus.

From my guess, the squaddies can use ANY WEAPON, but they're just limited to two of them. Wondering if this means I can make Kaidan use the Assault Rifle and Shotgun for the lulz.

Thats annoying, I hate systems with one rule for PC and another for NPCs. I must have missed it when they said it was only for Shepard.

In that case why not a Cain and an Collector Particle Beam. Just be careful about when you allow him to equip the Cain.

I still see Ash as being a sniper focusing on DPS like Zaeed while Vega takes Grunt's role in the party as a tank. Mostly since Vega is a very big guy who looks like he can take some real punishment before going down. Ash is less heavily armored this time around which makes me think she's a sniper.

My Ash was never a sniper, I always left that up to Garrus. But seeing as she's dead in all of my games (mwahaha) it doesn't matter. It will be nice to have Kaidan use more than a pistol though.

By any, I meant the four primary weapons. I ALWAYS dismiss the Heavy Weapons.

Well Kaidan is holding a shotgun in one pic, so unless that's one of his default weapons I would think we'd be able to give squaddies any weapon class barring the heavy weapon.

Ash was a Soldier class in ME1 and 2 and is a Spectre in ME3. Squad members are no longer limited to certain weapons due to class, class just affects how many Weapon slots they have. Soldiers are the only class that can carry all weapon types at the same time. Since she was a Soldier before becoming a Spectre,I expect Ashley will still be able to wield all the weapon types just like Shepard unless they switch her up to prevent a Soldier Shep feeling like she is a clone.
In summary, Ash was never really a Sniper unless you trained her to be and that will likely still be the case in ME3.

Asley sniper?

Asley was soldier who used mostly assault rifle.

All squad members can use only two weapon, has nothing to do with class.
Player character can have more than two, based class.

I dunno if it is possible but if Ashley had access to all weapon types but could only take 2 on a mission that would be more interesting. Maybe one mission she has sniper rifle and smg but on another she could take AR and shotgun.

The weapon slot system only applies to Shepard, the weapon equiping system for squadmates is the same as ME2's. I think Ashley is getting assault rifle and shotgun training.

I recall them saying squadmates get 2 weapons of your choice.

I've never pictued her the sniper type....that's what Garrus is for. I've always pictured her rolling with an Assault Rifle.

arggh!!! That is annoyingly vague. I am assuming that means Ashley is specialised in say Assault rifles and shotguns (could be something else) and you can choose 2 out of the Mattock, Avenger, Vidicator, Scimitar, Katana etc. But it could mean you can choose which types they specialise in ie pistols and submachine guns.
