Excuse the title.
My questions to you all are: How do you feel about the mainstream, action movie style of the new ME3 marketing? Do you miss the serenity and scifi themes that the game is about in the marketing? Do you prefer this because it will appeal to those who aren't as familiar with scifi and RPGs? Do you think the music and fast pace in the trailer fits the games?
I would say that I really miss the traditional foghorn sound that the previous games used when they finished off the trailers with the logo. I think marketing it as a bit more scifi and less as the rock and roll music action title would be nice, but the trailers are capturing the intensity and pace that the game will likely have.
What do you think of the guitar rifts instead of spacey synth?
So long as the game has my spacey synth (and with Clint Mansell doing it, I have no doubt that it will!), I don't mind how they market it. Honestly, if the game is good and has it's serene SF moments from time to time, they could market the game as a goat-farming simulator if that's what sells the most copies!
I mean, I don't remember ME1/2 having particularly "serene" trailers, do you?
ME2's trailers largely centered around the game's most violent firefights, particularly the legendary Garrus mission. ME3's firefights look AWESOME. Way better than the already amazing ME2. I can't wait. Great firefights + awesome SF + fun characters + good plot + engaging decisions = PURE WIN. So long as they simply make "ME2, but better", it will be the best game in history, seriously.
