have determined that the game with the most promising retail title out
of E3 2011 is… Mass Effect 3. "
Coming from me too I believe ME3 is my most anticipated game as well.
They're right, but that one was kinda simple to predict. I mean seriously, everything at E3 was a shooter, or a sequel, or both, even if it didn't make sense (X-Com!), it doesn't take alot of vision to see that it's going to be a brutal year. All there is, is ME3, Diablo 3, and maybe Starcraft's Xpack. The dark horse of the year will probably be Dead State.
Skyrim's going to bomb as bad as DA2 did. Bethseda doesn't know how to make games anymore, and they're just removing more features making it a hollow shell compared to Daggerfall or Morrowind. Seriously, it's only a matter of time when your fanbase's mantra is "Wait till the modders get it, they'll fix all the bugs and bad design!". I'd put $20 on Bethseda bombing out this time around.

Anyway, it's a good day on BSN when someone changes the mood from Skyrim will be GoTY and is our salvation after DA2, to Skyrim will be garbage and barely an RPG.

Analysts are always wrong. ME3 has a lot of buzz, but as a single-player game, people are likely to buy only one copy per household. The game's price will drop like a rock once people complete the game and sell it to others.
Which is why EA probably wants multiplayer in ME3.
Sad, but true.
Modern Warfare will likely become the new best selling game of all time again or some such. Heck if MW3 had a Teen rating kids wouldn't even have to ask their parents to buy it for them anymore.

lol destructoid. Yeah, they gave Witcher 2 a 6/10. That's almost as embarassing as PC Gamer calling Dragon Age 2 the RPG of the decade. What a debacle. Oh and I see they've given Dungon Siege III a 7.5?
I have no idea what those guys are smoking, but they're really out of touch.
And...how exactly would anyone know what Dungeon Siege III is rated if it's not released for another 2 hours?
DS3 has been on sale in stores where I live for several days now. Like people have said - it's awful.

Just a quick note. MW2 is absolutely nowhere near, not even vaguely close, to being the best selling game ever.
The statistic you are referring to is actually "MW2 is the best selling game ever...in the US alone".

Indeed. I live in Australia, it's been out here for a couple of days at least.

Yeah gonna have to go with Skyrim too.
Agreed. If it draws in a combination of TES players, Fallout 3 players, and new players it will sell well.

You do realize that they've added 280 perks for all the skills right? Morrowind had more skills but each skill lacked depth and complexity, they may have removed a few skills in Skyrim but they have made each one 10x better.

Destructoid kinda sucks. I tried to read some of Jim Sterling's articles once, and it turns out he's a talentless ****. Some people seem to like that site though. I guess it's an "aquired taste" (putting it nicely).

Thing is, I wouldn't mind reading the articles of an attention-seeking troll writer if he was a talented attention-seeking troll writer...

I have to disagree with this, I'm afraid. With Oblivion, Bethesda's idea was to remove skills and fix this by adding more realistic npcs. Unfortunately, this didn't work when they removed half the work they did on RAI, deeming it 'too unpreditable'.
With Skyrim, they are continually removing skills (which they've been doing since Daggerfall), but they are also adding more in terms of the new perk system, dragon shouts, and dual-wielding. I actually approve that they also removed the emphasis on your class. Instead of your character (for some odd reason) starting out with some skills better than others, you simply use what you want your character to use. It's a much more organic system, imo.

There's some truth to this. I know that if ME3 does have multiplayer worth playing (i.e. cool, totally ME-style coop, not some lame-ass team deathmatch or the like), my household will be buying two copies instead of one.

Claiming that games with multiplayer are successful just for having that is false.
Even if it's implemented right.

Claiming that a good SP game which also has decent MP sells more copies than a good SP game which has no MP , though, is true, I'm afraid. If people want to play a game with their friends, that game will sell more copies than if they were happy to play it solo, for the simple fact that people will all need their own copy, and there's a bit of a "peer pressure" effect as well. I mean, Borderlands, right, fine SP game - but if it'd had been SP only, I'd be the only person I knew who had it. Because it also had MP, several of my friends bought it so we could play together (and that's another shooter with RPG elements, too).

Mass Effect needs no multiplayer for replay factor. All the different decisions you can make, all the different characters you can get in the sack, make for lots of replay value. I'm working on my 5th Shep right now, totaling about 330 hours played between ME1 and ME2 so far. The only games I've played more than that are TF2 and WoW.
ME3 is definitely at the top of my list for AAA titles coming soon. Followed by Battlefield 3, Skyrim and Diablo 3.
Don't forget that if you sprung for dlc content for either ME1 and ME2 adds some more content to the game which does include more decisions/gameplay to the game however little it may be helps flesh out the story more.
Not sure if I think ME3 going have the most potential Skyrim and Diablo II going to agree with KingNothing on this one
