This actually drove me nuts during my first two playthroughs of ME2. I thought the devs had just made a mistake with the way the elevator faced when entering the CIC. Only after remembering that the elevator opened both ways on the SR1 did I realize that the SR2's elevator doors did the same thing. What confused me was that the green elevator display made it look like there was only one side that opened, when in fact the display changed sides depending on where the exit was.

This never would have been an issue had the elevator moved and the doors opened in-game. The loading screens prevented you from seeing that.

I'd like an engineer to come up to Shepard and say, "When's the last time you had anyone lubricate that elevator? It was moving slower than a dead Elcor. Hope you don't mind that I used some of your elbow grease. It was just sittin' over there by the headlight fluid". Seriously. Those elevators are slow as hell.

This is gamebreaking, Bioware should fix this immediately and without delay. Exiting on the wrong side of the ship could have dire consequences like losing interest by the time you get to the kitchen or wasting precious seconds of your game time in transit inside the ship. Who could have thought of this obscene and utterly insulting idea that the elevator exits on the other side? The dev that did this should be found, fired, and his or her misdeeds spread around the game design community so that the developer never gets a job again.
