Would character combat animations be possible to use in dao? I know another game Silent hunter 4 you could just copy the graphics files over to Silent hunter 3 and voila! I then had future game graphics inside sh3... a long shot i know, just thought if anybody have messed around with this?

Yes that would be awesome :D. Particularly the game engine and the elves (the elf mod available doesn't bother to change the elves in the Dalish Origin >.>).

The animation skeletons used in DA2 are very different from these in DAO. As such, you can't just copy the files over and the work involved would be... more than significant. Then there's the fact DA2 and DAO have different character abilities, so you'd either need to make new skill sets in DAO using these, or swap the existing animations for the new one, which doesn't have to make sense. Meaning even more work.

Well i've not got a clue even how to get the models out of the toolset (i tried but gave up fairly quick :/)
but if anyone ever wants to do this then i would be very happy to animate the skelitons for it, it wouldnt be very hard, as i'd mainly just have to copy the animations from DA2 and there is plenty of reference footage on youtube and stuff,
i think the biggest difference in DA2 to DAO combat is DA2 flows between each strike so it goes hit 1,2,3,4. Stop.
where as DAO is more hit 1 stop. hit 2. stop. hit 3.stop. hit 4 stop. (thats the best i ac describe it without doing visuals :P)

For me DAO has better graphics and better overall, than DA2. DAO was developed more years than DA2. So for me, DAO>DA2

The engine that DAO runs on is worse than DA2 especially.

It's the same engine.

I agree on PC version. But dao was not so good on consoles. I think that's a big reason everything went *spartan* in DA2 UI/enviroments etc. so consoles could have a decent experience this time.

If Origins is running on the same engine, then how come Origins stuffs your RAM with crap without cleaning it out and DA2 doesn't?

DA2 obviously is running on a better engine than Origins. The RAM issue is obvious.

have you played dao recently after da2? I think it looks very old and stiff toon animations are very bad.. strange i never thought so in the pre-da2 era hehe

Because DAO was a PC game only till late in development. They tweaked the engine a lot since then and made certain...sacrafices so consoles would get a better experience this time.

Well I am glad some do. I was just  regurgitating the general angst on the forums on various console complaints at the time for DAO.

I'm playing both right now. I miss the little details like more varied environs, loot with nice looking icons, better looking character models/faces Tac camera and...a lot more. But whatever.
