When I was playing Dragon Age: Origins Awakening I gave Anders  Ser-pounce-a-lot like nearly everyone did. Loving the dialogue and kitten noise I took Ser-pounce-a-lot everywhere with me including to the battle with Mother. Then I started up Witch Hunt importing my Warden from Awakening and found that Ser-pounce-a-lot was in my inventory still.
Flash forward to my second playthrough of DA2 (first after finishing Dragon Age Origins and importing it) I listened to Anders about leaving the Templars because they made him get rid of his kitten. I know it was another Warden who told him to get rid of it, but my Warden was the one who actively took away his beloved kitten and went through the portal with Morrigan.
Just made me feel guilty

My dwarf wanted a cat.

What? Xanthos Aeducan can't have a sensitive side behind all of his ruthlessness?

I felt a similar guilt when I sold Aveline's shield and she brought it up. Played the game again, but this time I placed it in the storage chest. She still thinks I sold it. Now I'm just kind of disappointed that it remained the same.

I felt so guilty about that I kept it and equipped it on her just before the conversation. You get a different result then.

lol Just having it wasn't enough. I guess if we had Ser-pounce-a-lot we would have to strap it to Anders so he doesn't think the cat is still missing.

For the record you still get crap from Aveline even is she is still wearing the sheild. The dialogue changes but not for the better.

More for the record: there are three possibilities for what Aveline will say. 1) If the shield's been sold or placed into storage. 2) If it's equipped on her. 3) If it's in your inventory.

And it's still my headcanon that Anders gave Pounce to Delilah Howe and her young son. Seems a better life for Pounce than with the Warden, no matter what the inventory proclaims.

You know, I never once used Ser-pounce-a-lot's special powers...I'm a little sad about that.

When does this happen?! I diligently saved ALL my companions' crappy armour and weapons in my lockbox just in case they got pissy about me having sold them. And no one mentioned it! Not once! :pinched:

On the quest where you gift Aveline a new shield. She'll talk about Wesley's shield and the dialogue will vary based on if she's got it equipped, you have it in your inventory or you sold it. (chest at home counts as 'sold' for this)

Its the only time the crappy companion starter gear is important.

Yes, it's the Shield of the Knight Herself quest. I think you pick it up on the way out of Brekker's hideout, or somewhere originating from Darktown...

My warden never gave Anders the cat because she liked it too much herself.

You do not have it in your inventory. She does not know it is in storage. Hence the same dialog.

Anders: Who's the best little kitty, you are!
Ser-Pounce-A-Lot: Meow.

I wish Ser-Pounce-A-Lot could be a pet for Anders like the Mabari is for Hawke.

Poor Anders. You made him go crazy by taking away his kitty.

I'm sorry, the EPA wouldn't allow BioWare to release such toxicly high levels of adorable into our homes.
