At the end of the Tower of Ishal all the equipment I had on my temp companions disappeared totally, I had some nice magic belts and stuff on them. This was shocking as I didn't think to totally undress them after the battle with the ogre, and before lighting the fire. Bioware typically gives you the items lost when companions die in a cutscene. I understand it is realistic the darkspawn aren't going to return the poor sod's items from their mangled corpses, but realism could have come second to gameplay and the game could have added their items to my inventory when I woke up in Flemeth's hut
