I think the cloaking visual effect is slightly off in my game.

The blue "shimmering" effect isn't supposed to look so obvious is it? Cloaked enemies have the same shimmer effect. Is there anything I can do about this?

I'm running Windows 7 64 Ultimate, with an 8800M GTS 512 and 258.96 drivers.

No such driver revision exists for that card, unless you mean the 258.69 driver revision, in which case they are Beta drivers, and not guaranteed to work with any game. Thats the only advise I can give until you post a full error report as per the "Read First" thread thats stickied at the top of the forum.

Edit: They dont exist in English versions anyway. Could be another language, but you havent specified if thats the case.

Oops, I meant version 258.96. Derp.

Edit: Also, I'm playing the game on a notebook, so the card is acutally an 8800M FWIW. The game is fully patched.

You can try turning down many of the graphics options, or playing at a lower resoution. You could also try a reinstall, but not sure if that will have any effect. The 258.96 drivers are regarded to be the last known release of drivers that will work properly with ME/ME2, you could try newer ones, but you might find other graphics glitches starting to appear.
The problem with playing on a notebook is that mobility (or M class) chipsets are never implemented into the mainboards of the notebooks according to any form of standard, so performance and functionality not only varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but also between motherboard revisions. They also lack many of the features of a fully fledged desktop card as well. Also, they are prone to overheating issues, as the CPU and GPU chips are in close proximity, with very little airflow or cooling to help them out.

Well, I use a notebook cooler and keep track of my temperatures so I don't think that's an issue. I've also tried a bunch of different video drivers and reinstalled prior to posting, all to no avail. I'll try messing with my settings, but I may just have to live with it. Oh well.

Thanks for the help mate; I appreciate it.
