tracer rounds make absolutely no sense from a gameplay or lore perspective. the air distortion caused by a projectile in ME1 made a lot more sense and looked cool.

Jepp, I want vapor trails. Tracer Rounds for near instantanous projectiles is obviously idiotic, either you hit, or you didn't, there is no need to adjust ones aim more than to simply aim ...

Very small issue. Doubt it will be addressed. But i liked ME1 style better too.

Why not adress it when it makes sense and I don't think it's a bigg thing, just one particle effect.

I refuse to believe people are getting so insanely worked up about something so minor.

I agree. It's more realistic getting in mind that there aren't any bullets that could leave tracers, just tiny slugs. And it looks cooler.

The weird thing is that the tracer rounds are much slower than the real rounds. So it looks like you need to lead your shots. I missed every moving target in the game until I figured out that the bullet velocity was faster than the tracers.

I don't mind the tracers, since I'm using this wonderful invention called a reticle to aim my shots.

I agree.

I don't mind them improving the combat - but I don't see WHY the combat has to follow some other modern day shooter things like Ammo and Tracer rounds....what the hell is wrong with being different?

while ME2 played more smoothly and had less bugs, ME1 had a ton of these little things (like OP mentioned) that made it such an awesome game.

I'll take the tracers any day. At least I'm not blinded by muzzle fire unlike ME1.

LOL, so do I. However, I do find those enemy bullet's tracers quite helpful. They show at what angle enemies are shooting you; and they are great to time movement and/or sticking your head out of cover while enemies are reloading.

you can see that with vapor trails too. tracers just have the whole "I look like I belong to Star Wars!" thing.

i much preferred the feel of the ME1 guns, personally, and the trails were much better - the weapons felt more powerful - like proper railguns, in ME2 the ARs in particular felt like tinny machine guns.

That they are. Not to mention that it looks neat when about five enemies or so are firing at you at the same time.

There were vapor trails in ME1? The first book said tracer rounds and I don't remember anything on the subject in ME1

yeah, you fire a weapon and you could see the trail of the bullet as well as the impact.

I support this. Oh, interesting sidenote: It seems that the rate of fire affects the bullet/tracer speed.
Oh, and the weapons should do what the description says about them. I mainly mean the Incisor and the Cain.

happy compromise:

steal from Crysis 2 dude

that game doesn't have tracers either, but an upgrade to your nanosuit basically applies tracers to all enemy rounds, is pretty useful in combat

One thing I noticed was that the "tracers" actually travel slower than the actual rounds. As you can imagine, this can lead some players thinking that they need to lead their targets to hit them, which is simply untrue.

What about tracers does not make sense?

But, anyway....Why not have both? If that is even possible.

the bullets in ME2 impact as soon as you pull the trigger and hit exactly where the reticle is placed. despite this a bolt of light comes from the end of the gun and can completely miss a moving target that you actually hit and did damage to and does absolutely nothing if it does hit. it's like a light effect whose only purpose is to resemble laser weapons from other sci fi games like star wars battlefront or republic commando even though it functions in an entirely different way.
