Good because you're wrong.
Here's a definition of fan-service from Wiki
http://en.wikipedia....iki/Fan_service
" It is about "servicing" the fan[4] - giving the fans "exactly what they want".[5] Fan service usually refers to "gratuitous titillation"

Hahaha, that was good - I'm just trying to guess how old you are. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're in your late teens rather than just extremely immature.

Han Solo/Princess Leia for example was fan service because fans responded to the chemistry between them rather than Luke/Leia (Lucas most certainly had not yet decided they were siblings).

You said it yourself. Given that Miranda wasn't known until the release of ME2...how could anyone want something of a character they didn't know? However, BW gave you Talimancers everything you requested (demanded) for Tali in ME2. No fanservice there? Hmm...
You're correct, I'm in my very late teens. So...how old are you little boy?
Right?

So, introducing a "perfect" woman with huge assets and a skimpy outfit who will ride your Shepard like a bucking broncho in the middle of the Engine Room isn't fan service? Forgive me, I suppose I don't know what the word means!
And considering how much of her body it takes up (and how often it's shoved in front of the camera), yes, I see a lot of Miranda's ass. It's disturbing that when I typed in "Mass Effect Posters" on Ebay, half of them were pinups, and all of them were of a half-naked+ Miranda.
However, I can value her character, even if she doesn't stand out the most to me. And I don't tend to stare at her @ss, because I don't take her on missions and only talk to her when she has something new to say, as she isn't one of my "special favourite" characters. And I'm not a "Talimancer", I'm somebody who deeply enjoys Tali as a character. You're in a group called "Mirimancers", so I suppose you enjoy the title. They (titles) seem ridiculous troll-tools to me.
The one time I clicked on Miranda's fan thread, I read less than a dozen posts, and three of them were about a pinup picture exclaiming, with nothing else, "DAT ****!". Not that the other posts were much better. Given that, and Ebay (check for yourself), I could have ample reasons to click on a "Why the hell is Miranda so popular?" thread and whine about her. But you know why I don't? Because people are entitled to like who they like, and only a real jerk steps into one and badmouths a character. I saved everyone on the Suicide Mission, because I don't hate any of the characters.

Right?
Figured as much, not to say age is a barrier to maturity but I was just curious which one it was in your case. The "My fanbase is better than your fanbase" attitude gave it away.
Now until you know what fan service means (and no it doesn't just refer to returning charatcers/elements) you might not want to run around using it authoriatively because it doesn't help your position that you obviously don't have a good handle on it.

MsSihaKatieKrios sorry for going off topic, why is it so bad they put Tali and Garrus in our squad even as fan service? If they put Miranda in ME3 it will be fan service too. But the fans would love it(I'd like that too cos I have nothing against Miranda). So is it so bad to make fans happy?
Sheesh...didn't you guys read the P.S.? I quite liked Garrus in ME2. He was effective in combat, but was plain dull if you didn't romance him. Tali was just deadweight for me in ME2. She 'matured' badly IMO. Storywise...she just bored me. The progression from 1 to 2 was plain boring (kill geth, dissect them to try and build weapons that would annhilate them, rinse, repeat...). Garrus was definitely more interesting.
Basically, if bleh ME2 Tali instead of my beloved ME1 Tali gets into ME3, I'll flip.

Not trying to be confrontational here, just curious. Doesn't your signature kinda imply you are a "Talimancer," or does that term mean something different than someone who prefers (or at least likes) a romance between a given character and Shepard?

Garrus is literally the same character in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. He has no growth as a character.

FYI, not many of us Miranda fans liked the engine room scene. None of us liked the gratuitous, fanservicey a*s shots. BTW, the three posts you saw were trolls. And you actually took those to heart instead of the forum regulars.

Why do you think they added the gratuitous a** shots? To troll people with something they don't want? They added them to titillate the kinds of shallow gamers that her look was made for. That's not to say she doesn't have personality and that people can't like her for things other than her body, but come on. 'Sex sells' is written all over her.MsSihaKatieKrios wrote...

Right?
Thane is fanservice too. He takes it a step further than Miranda in that every single aspect of him was created to make the ladies hot for him. The interviews regarding his creation make him sound like BioWare's Gift to Women. Just because we didn't ask for him doesn't make him any less of a fanservice character.
Personally, I don't see why fanservice is such a bad thing. As long as there's a balance between fanservice and creative integrity, I'm good with it. I don't really like Tali's romance, but I like Tali, and I may be in the minority, but I thought that aside from the romance her character wasn't any different in ME2. She's still my Shepard's 'little sister'.

I romance Tali 100%, love her character, and am happily awaiting my Tali t-shirts which I'll wear shark feeding in Australia.
"Talimancer" is usually used by trolls to describe Tali's fans as inflammatory trolls who can't stand the criticism of her character. I don't fall under that category; She needn't be drop-dead gorgeous looking under the helmet, she's not Admiral material, etc. are all things I've said myself, and recently. If Talimancer described the majority of Tali fans, who happily chit-chat about a character they find is truly great in their favourite video game, then I'd call myself it proudly.
Not that anyone who does has anything wrong
