Here's how I picture them.

Spine covered skin, like a porcupine but with shorter rounded spines.
Cybernetic implants (why else would their eyes glow like that?)

^No, Tali said there's a theory that do to lack of insects Quarians had little disease which made their their immune system weak which made a lot of Quarians sick after first colonizations.

After Geth rebellions that that weak immune system got destroyed i next 300 years.

It's not a mandatory thing, but I don't see why Tali shouldn't have some implants, all considered. I guess that they should be limited to the essential, because the weakened quarian phisiology probably won't handle extended or too invasive implants, but still...

Yeah, that is what concerns me too. Given a non-existent immune system, invasive surgery to put mechanical stuff into your body, and, together with rapid technological advances (so implants would need to be replaced/serviced on a regular basis), it seems to be a difficult path to take for an intelligent species.

I don't see why she wouldn't be.  Even if the quarians actually have hair (which seems doubtful on its own), why in the hell would any of them keep it?  Hair in a helmet is a huge pain.  I'm sure they would shave it off for easy maintenance.

I say Tali might have short hair. She got a hood and we don't know whats the shape of her helmet is from the back. So it might have some room for hair.

True, but I guess you are looking at it from a practical point of view (which is understandable considering the lengths Bioware have gone to make things plausible). But how do you think she 'should' look if that wasn't a consideration?

Another possibility is that Quarian hair (if they had it) may not work in exactly the same way as humans, and removing it would be like removing part of your skin (ouch!)

sorry S.A.K, no hard feelings but i rather choose the harbinger face. One Squidhead type alien is enough. Besides I think her face should be mystery. But if i must, i'd want big glowing beautiful eyes, greyish-blue skin and humanoid hair type.

I didn't make that pic, I don't think it should be her face but it can give a good idea for a face. But that is the most popular fan art among fans:)

Actually I do not want to bring that, but in Muslim countries women use turban, to keep their hair hidden for religious belief, like the one around Tali's and other quarian's hood. They use hairgrip like Ash. So, it's very possible to see Tali with long hair.

Ah yes... "Arcian's not provocatory posts"...

But seriously, she can't be as in that fanart, because of some major details totally messed up : she lacks the nose and human like mounth (it's mentioned in the novels that quarian have it) and wrong eyes shape and size. But overally it's not the worst concept I've seen.

I'm just waiting for Bioware's Tali. The silver, glowing eyes and pretty nose we see through the mask is a must, of course

I really like the idea of glowing eyes and a muted, greyish, or light purplish skin color. I always thought of quarians as having dark blue, black or purply hair tones only. Also, having a mouth structure similar to the Turians, and not so similar to the Asari, Drell or humans.

I hope fanservice plays enough into Tali's face reveal to make her beautiful, but distinctly alien, as the OP suggests.
