I have no real strong feeling about how Tali should look, though I entertain a general idea of how I envision her...
Alienmorph sorry, but I'll borrow your page formatting, because I think you made a great work with the characteristic differentiation... :P

- Hair (or equivalent)

T.Attwood wrote...
Another possibility is that Quarian hair (if they had it) may not work in exactly the same way as humans, and removing it would be like removing part of your skin (ouch!)

I somehow agree with this statement...
I envision them having hair-like fur on their heads that tends to become more rigid and quill-like with age, sort of like the quills of the Crested Porcupine: they start as light fur, grow more rigid and maybe even slightly curled with age but they never grow beyond a certain lenght and they they naturally fall off after a while (they aren't attached very strongly to the flesh)...

It makes sense since both hair and quills are formed from similar substances (in our case chitin, which also makes up our nails by the way) and with the Crested Porcupine we have an example of natural hair hardening...
Here's a depiction of Crested Porcupine quills for comparison and for giving an idea of how I envision quarian hair...

Also it will work in the pollination part: when under stress (like passing through a bush) the softer fur would capture pollen, the hardened quills would instead fall off (being less attached to the skin) with the pollen they captured before, thus pollinating/helping the seed spread...

As for how they keep the under the suit: the quills bend easily (as the are not strongly attached to the flesh), maybe Quarians even have curlier kinds, and if need be, they can simply be "plucked off", leaving only the younger, softer and shorter fur...

I'm going to go and guess, males grow some of these quills (though shorter and stubbier) on their chin (and that's what those spikes below the mask represent)...

As they are ultimately hardened fur they could be mainly of black, dark grey and white colours; maybe even striped...

- Glowing eyes
Could be due to cybernetic enhancements or be due to the (equivalent of) Tapetum Lucidum, but I believe she definitely has them even with the visor off...
Looking here you can see the shining effect is confentrated around the pupils and the irises, so she'll probably have a pretty light iris colour (if anything due to the effect of the light)...
I have no clear idea of what colour the sclera should be: may be white as in humans or maybe darker like in drell...

- Skin Tone
Agreeing with Alienmorph on this one... Light colour: milky white, white with VERY subtle hints of pink/purple/blue or greish... If anything because living in a suit you whole life doesn't help skin pigmentation...

- Cybernetics
Quarians have them, no way around that, and I wouldn't mind if some were visible, but nothing over the top...
Would be a nice touch if the visible cybernetics were to be decorated as to appear like glowing tattoos or markings on her face...

- Alien Features
The eyes are already more far apart that in a normal human, giving her some peculiar traits that still make her look human but not exactly so will be nice: maybe a human like nose (like we see in her mask) but slightly elongated in the nostrill area (instead of horizontal like in humans) or lips divided in sections, like the drell...
I also think their ears should be gill-like, not in the sense they are gills, just in the shape: several vertical cuts surrounded by folded skin...

In general, the way I envision Tali is pretty similar to an image I posted in the Tali Thread some time ago...
Image IPB

That's my opinion anyway, but I'll be happy with whatever we'll get...
Sorry for the long post... XD

@CaseyDHudson.@sharon_ak  Whether we reveal Tali's face in #ME3 would be a spoiler.

don't you just hate that? they don't tell us if they don't show it so we can't complain while there is still time to change their minds and thay don't tell us if they do show it so we can anticipate it and rejoice.
i for one hope they will show her face (if you hadn't figured that one out already) and don't really care how she looks as long as she is still hot, but in a cute and clumbsy kind of way, like the way she flirts with you. :D

It's not that particular design I'm advocating, but the general idea. Anything that shoves a shotgun into the mouth of the Space Elf-concept and pulls the trigger is good enough for me.

Hell yes. I see enough space elves in anime and 40k thank you.

On the subject of hair, I would vote that she should have it. The 'Jack' look has already been done and didn't really work.

A simple "in my opinion" is needed. I quite like Jacks look, and think it worked well. But I agree its been done so something else for Tali is preferable.

My thoughts is instead of hair.. go for like, something similar to Cyrax (from mortal kombat). I don't like the pony tail look that Cyrax has.. more just having something cybernetic that resembles a hair style, rather then hair. I don't know I haven't put alot of thought into it. Could be cool, could be terrible.

I also think she should be more alien then an Asari... but not so much that she becomes a hideous monster (if thats possible)

EDIT: I fully support glowing eyes.

But seriously, she can't be as in that fanart, because of some major details totally messed up : she lacks the nose and human like mounth (it's mentioned in the novels that quarian have it) and wrong eyes shape and size. But overally it's not the worst concept I've seen.

It's not that particular design I'm advocating, but the general idea. Anything that shoves a shotgun into the mouth of the Space Elf-concept and pulls the trigger is good enough for me.

Ebout this we totally agree. As I said that fanart is wrong because of many details, but the overall idea is not so bad, at all.

I say Tali might have short hair. She got a hood and we don't know whats the shape of her helmet is from the back. So it might have some room for hair

If Bioware are going to make Tali's face it's better gonna be alien than look like a human(diversity anyone?)or im gonna protest at BW HQ.

The problem is that BW just can't design a face that will satisfy the bulk of the fans.

We will never see the face of Tali...which imo really sucks.

Hmm...I don't think we really are on the same page here. I absolutely want to see Tali's face.

No matter if it's hideous (unlikely) or BW decides that Quarians are really space elves.

I just hate being teased. Having Shephard taking off Tali's mask and smiling, but at the
same time not allow the players to actually see what their avatar (Shephard) was smilling
at was a really cheap move, imo.

I'm not a Tali fan, but still, if they do choose to reveal her face in ME3, I hope she looks as alien as possible. Quarians shouldn't be exact analogs of humans, it's already stretching believability that asari are so human-looking (asari and humans almost have to be related species due to their overwhelming similarities—I think the Protheans were playing God and made humans out of modified asari stock, just my theory).

Clearly quarians have two eyes, a nose and a mouth of some kind, but I'm hoping that they're much more along the drell model than the asari model. Some kind of animalistic features, like an inner eyelid, dark or obscured sclera, fine scales or somesuch would be much preferable to any of the overly-humanistic fan-art that I've seen. And above all, the anatomical detail should make some kind of scientific sense. I'll be very disappointed if quarians look like fashion models wearing forehead prosthetics.

I wouldn't mind if quarians have odd skin color, in fact it would be preferable if it wasn't any of the human pink-orange-brown tones, the asari aqua-blue-violet (and green) tones, or anything too Technicolor. Something akin to salarian skin tones might be cool. I see quarians as aquatic mammals that evolved to walk on land, rather than reptiles that evolved into mammals after adapting to land dwelling, so hair is right out. That doesn't mean that other keratin-based spiny prominences and suchlike wouldn't be reasonable, but human-like hair and eyebrows just don't seem realistic to me.

Like I said, I'm not a Tali fan, but her appearance is in effect the appearance of all quarians, and I really don't want them to go too far in trying to make them "pinup pretty". I'm not saying she should be ugly, that's just bad design, but prioritize "alien" over "attractive" whenever possible.

I pretty much agree with all of this. As i said in the main Tali Thread too, I really hope Tali and quarians in general are alien-looking as much as the drells, and not just repainted humans as the asari.

Also, your theory about asari's origin. I don't think it will ever be confirmed as canonic, but it's intriguing. It reminds me the PeaceKeepers's origin in Farscape.

The more I see that design, the more I like it. I think the nose/mouth should be a bit more alien though. The hair, I love. If Tali were to have hair, then that would be a perfect style - not too human, but still something recognisable.

I prefer she just keep the her helmet on, we all would be disappointed no matter what she would look like. But it wouldn't hurt to at least show one detail of her face, like her eyes and/or skin color.

It's a cliche and a cop-out. We already have one 'alien' race that looks too human just for the sake of being attractive to male gamers, we don't need another. She's another species, she shouldn't have a 90% human face.

But that's just my opinion and I didn't romance Tali, so I suppose I don't have as much investment in it as some people.

I still like this one best, but I highly doubt quarians will look like that.

Personally I just hope Tali looks vastly different than humans.
I'm praying so hard for that.
Sadly we already saw through her helmet that she seems to have a nose...

I think it's enough that the female aliens (at least those we get to romance) have the exact same body shape as human women,Tali doesn't need to be made into a second Liara.

Don't get me wrong,I don't want her to be ugly, just really alien like and unique.
The male alien LIs look different than humans,so if (what I fear will happen) BW gives Tali a human looking pretty face, just so that the little boys playing this game can be happy that "they" landed someone hot...it would really annoy me

It's a trope, and a cheesy one. I'd like to keep cheesy tropes out of the game to whatever extent possible. I know people love the space elf idea, but I want to see something a little more mature. Any time BioWare has to resolve art questions like this, I hope they're approaching it from the standpoint of a mature, realistic aesthetic.

I liked that they didn't show it. It was one of the few times we could observe Bioware drilling in their own artistic integrity to the game, "teasing" exemplifies the rightful stance of an author, that no matter how much they cater to fans' wants and needs, Mass Effect is ultimately still their creation. Nothing wrong with "space elves", except it sounds ridiculous. But there are enough of them (or so I've heard), and it would be extremely lazy and unimaginative to slap the title on Quarians. New stuff FTW!

I kinda envisioned them to have a sort of predator look to them. (Not like the Predator movie kind) But worn down and smoothed. Take the turians and ex the mandibles, smooth the corners, give them hair of sort. Skin tones I would imagine they would all be primarily white or gray with hints of color to them. Cybernetics is a given. Not overly done, but practical for their suits purposes. Would like to see the cybernetics in some sort of tribal like design though. I think that would look cool. They don't need to be overly sexy, tastefully attractive seems more right.
