So what about Saren's hoverboard-thingy?

We all know Saren's trademark geth hoverboard, but we don't really know what happened to it after the Battle of the Citadel, nor if it was unique or not (they're never ridden by the geth themselves). As our beloved Shepards seem to be set on following their predecessor's footsteps, working with dubious allies (Cerberus), potentially gaining an army of rachni, krogan and geth, destroying alien colonies... why not give Shep his hoverboard as well?

Looking at how ME3 seems to be introducing more action-ey sequences into the series as well, already having a chase by a Reaper while Shep is manning the fleeing vehicle's turret, it wouldn't really feel out of place.

I wouldn't be surprised if BioWare decided to do this. There's one glaring difference between Saren and Shepard. Saren did those things to serve the Reapers. Shepard is doing it to stop them. With that said, the hoverboard would make for a nice trophy to use in combat.

They way I feel about this is well....

Summed up by the thread title.

It doesn't fit in my opinion.

Perhaps they'll replace the Hammerhead with it. Soon we'll be nosegrinding down the mountains of Eletania. Trick combos!

Joking.

Hopefully it was a prototype that was completely destroyed on Virmire, along with any sort of schematic pertaining to its creation.

The hoverboard sucked.

I would like to have it in a "view of the land" scene. Not so much for shooting. There's no cover in the air and I imagine trying to aim on a hoverboard would be horrible

He had it at the citadel on the last mission also. But you don't get to see it unless you play renegade and fight him instead of the paragon boring the poor man into shooting himself.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember a developer (or someone) mentioning once that the geth themselves were supposed to have those things, before they decided to drop it and just give Saren one instead. I need to figure out where I read that...

Doesn't matter whether you're renegade or not. Saren surprises Shepard with it when Shepard arrives. The conversation only starts after that.

...but it wasn't destroyed on Virmire.  Saren used it during the Battle of the Citadel.  Also, it's easy to trash it when you fight someone else using it.  Don't knoct it until you try it for yourself.

EDIT: Ninja'd :bandit:

It was there during the battle of the Citadel, so no, it survived Virmire. But it's probably a dead horse topic right now. The hoverboard's significance to the plot was directly dependant on Saren, who died. End of story for both.

Saren's hoverboard was stolen at the last minute before the explosion by an alien named M'kfli from the planet Mar-Tee and was last seen falling through a rift in time caused by the great 1.12 Gigawatt event.

This needs to get a 20-minute scene in ME3. I am in awe, more by the post, but also by the fate of the hoverboard.

You HAVE to have a Newsreel about that in ME3.

Shepard's barrier is not quite as strong has Saren's. And that's assuming Shepard is a biotic.

Hovering out of cover as an open target for every enemy doesn't sound like a good idea.
