Yes...her five minute cameo in Mass Effect 2 is a clear sign that Bioware wanted her to be the breakout character.

Liara is undoubtedly the in house favorite.
*Takes deep breath*
Romancable by both genders, can't die, and is canonically required to be on the Normandy during the events of Mass Effect. She has her own comic book mini-series continuing her story after Mass Effect which further solidifies her importance to the overall plot. She's around during the events of Mass Effect 2 in an important enough role to get her own "main mission" downloadable content but not long enough to be killed in the Suicide Mission. She takes up the mantle of Shadow Broker making her arguably the most important power player in the series'. She is a guaranteed squad member in Mass Effect 3 regardless of variables or decisions.

Plot-forced mindrape in front of everyone?
Don't know about you, but I'd prefer going to a few dinners first before that happens.
But yeah, pretty much this post there. ^^^

Everyone should make one playthrough as a xenophobic femShep with a Colonist/Sole Survivor background who romanced Kaidan.
- You have the forced friendship with Liara
- You have to flirt with Jacob
- You will always look sad, blowing up 300 000 Batarians
- You have to work with Cerberus AND NEVER QUESTION WHAT THEY DID ON AKUZE
- Horizon <-
If you RP it right, it will be the worst ME experience ever. Enjoy.
This makes me sad on so many levels.
Added a bit to the Cerberus one. Seriously, Bioware, you couldn't even have thrown Sole Survivor Sheps a bone on that one?

It's an understandable reaction, considering your hypocritical posts in this thread.

After two frigging months this thread is still going? Wow the hypocritical haters in this thread just do not want to die do they? I don't know if the startings posts were deleted but the OP and some other idiots were revealed to be hypocrites, trolls and morons. I can accept people not wanting to romance Liara, however flaming her is like me flaming Tali just because I don't like her. It isnt right and shows just what kind of a person someone is.
She's the only reason you get to romance your favorite in ME2 and get a chance to live to ME3.

You're going to need to spell out how people are being hypocritical. And 'troll' and 'moron' are subjective.
Regarding the last sentence in your post, kindly provide definitive proof (like a Bioware dev quote, etc.) that Cerberus would have been unable to retrieve Shepard's body without Liara. I find it pretty difficult to swallow that an organization that can pull together the funds to bring someone back to life would be unable to get their hands on the body in the first place without one specific Asari.

You know what she did with the tags though, right?KawaiiKatie wrote...

And Liara's also the one hiding your dogtags unless you get buddy-buddy.
Asari have always been cunning.
This... I can't view that scene where I turn down Liara for drinks (no, Liara, I will never be your friend) and not assume that she's thinking, "Well, he may not like me... but at least I still have his things! Teehee! I'll keep the dogtags under my pillow for good luck, and spoon with his old armour when I get lonely!"

Read the redemption comics or a story summary (it's really not too hard to find). The Illusive Man explained it to Liara.

I made the mistake of going all the way through LotSB. I'm not touching anything else where Liara is some enormous, unavoidable feature. So, just to clarify, somewhere in there TIM specifically states that without Liara Cerberus could never, ever have gotten hold of Shepard's body?

Collectors would get Shepard's body and it would be a bit difficult to get it back.
When you don't have Shepard for storming Collector Base? Yes.Neria Rose wrote...
A bit difficult = impossible?

Your problem.
second last page of issue 1 - TIM explains why I wants Liara on his team.

Wow, Liara fans. Just... wow.
I try to point out some legitimate concerns with Liara's character and role in the story, and try to point out how Bioware's treatment of Liara (her inability to die, her thick plot-armour, her many plot-points) is a detriment to both her fans and non-fans alike, and all you guys can do is re-post the same tired old image of "deal with it" Liara, and write me off as a "hater," "hypocrite," "moron," and "troll."
As I've said before, such replies add nothing to the debate, and hardly engender more love for Liara.
Here is a legitimate concern I have with Bioware's current treatment of Liara, stated as politely as possible, not as an attempt to be a "hater" or "troll," but in a legitimate attempt to obtain understanding and inspire debate:
Being unfriendly with Liara supposed to be legitimate way to play the game. Without chreating or breaking any of the gameplay in ME1 or ME2, I have a story where my Shepard was a huge jerk to Liara who never spoke to her after she mind-raped him, and refused her offer to share drinks. And yet Liara still treats him like her best friend (and at times, my Shepard is railroaded into doing the same, by hugging her or spouting friendly dialogue) and happily went hunting for his corpse. She kept his dogtags and his armour, and in the context of my story, Liara is very much an obsessed stalker. This is supposed to be a legitimate way to play the game.
And yet Bioware completely ignores and dismisses my canon. Thus far, your story (the one where Liara is Shepard's lover or a good friend) is the only legitimate story. Often, I feel like I'm playing the game "wrong" by not being friends with Liara, as the game constantly reminds me that I'm supposed to be friends with her, and that I could make things a lot easier on myself by simply giving in and playing nice with her.
I really hope that Bioware addresses what a creepy stalker they turned Liara into in my game. The game should remember how I treated her at the end of LotSB, and hopefully my Shepard will be able to confront her about her "Shepard Collection" and reclaim his dogtags and old armour.
But I have a feeling that my canon will be ignored once again. Come ME3, Liara will take center-stage and my Shepard will be forced to be friendly with Liara, and Bioware will act like the negative things that happened between my Shepard and Liara never happened. Once again, I will be left with the feeling that I played the game "wrong," even though I all I tried to do was roleplay a little differently than the Liara-fans.
