So, I just noticed something. I'm not sure if others have noticed this first or not, but Liara is the only squad member who can't die for real. Garrus and Tali can both die on the suicide mission, along with everyone else in ME2, Ashley or Kaidan can die on Virmire, and Wrex can be killed by Ashley on Virmire as well. Liara is the only member who cannot die in the Mass Effect series so far. What do you think this means for ME3?

It pobably just means that she is VERY significant to the franchise (not romantically necessarily); yet, it would seem like she only feels "happiness". By this I mean, her demeanor even when she angry. Hell no, she is NOT Aria T'Loak, but this whole "wouldn't hurt anyone/anything" makes her seem unrealistic.

Example: When I dump her for Miri (and I will. I have my reason). Threaten to do me in with biotic unforgiveness - may not to Jack or Aria's level, but an occasional tone wouldn't hurt. Samara's threat is probably quite convincing - once you realized how her words may ring true.

Having said this, I have nothing against Liara (although  what she told my Shep pissed us both off!), but they could flesh out her character more. Keep in mind that I do not have LotSB; however, I'd say the same if she doesn't change somewhat in that game.

I'd love to see a Liara and Aria show-down, but not nessarily like Samara/Morinth if there ineed must be a "Who to chose" LM

Well, besides the dumbness of ME-Genesis, she's adorable too ^_^

Naah, it's funnier keep bashing the same 2-3 characters, silly you. It won't be called "butthurt hate posting" if people do it only once.  So well, let's wait a Garrus hate thread too, and then we can restart the cicle all over again... <_<

I keep saying that the problem is that if you save one character, no matter which one, everyone who don't like dat character will whine because he/she was the wrong choice. So well, it's an unsolvable problem I guess.

THIS.

"OH NO! A HUGE PIECE OF TABLE IS BEING THROWN AT ME AND I CAN DIVE TO PROTECT PRECIOUS BABY LIARA OR MY BELOVED LOVE-INTEREST! WELL, CLEARLY, THIS CHOICE WAS MADE LONG AGO!"

Ugh. I hated it. Seeing Jack (my favourite love-interest from ME2) completely knocked-out while my Shepard threw his arms around Liara was just awful.

I agree, one or two items of this list is perfectly understandable and not a big deal, but entire list make me think Reapers will be stopped with some visions from Shepard's brain involved, and Liara will have regular mind melting with him and in the end will explain the secret of the Reapers to everyone;)

The important part is, you can't kill Ashley and Kaidan.
I think Liara and the VS will be very important for the plot in ME3.
In Liara's case I always thought it would be nice, to have guest appearance in future Mass Effect games, if you can't kill her in ME3.

But I think it would be unfair to be able to kill the VS in ME3.
On the other hand, I would love the irony.

"Quick guard this giant bomb, it's the only way to kill the Reapers!"  ^_^

Yes, really.  All her unkillability really comes down to is that she wasn't a party member in ME2 like Garrus and Tali were.  Which is a pretty strange claim to favouritism, really.

Wow, I just thought of something. She's not a squadmate so she can't be killed in the final mission and you can't have a total-death suicide ending, right? And the Liara fans get LotSB and her previous cameo to tide them over for her big-crazy-plot-hero scene in ME3.

Oh damn, I never brought my LI there, that's ****g crazy - wow.

That kind of bothers me.

...So, I *won't* be taking Tali when I get the DLC... Maybe Zaeed, he can handle it.

That is extremely wrong.

Not sure what to think, but I'm hoping it means we can finally get rid of her in ME3.

I remember that at the end of LotSB she says that the Shadow Broker believed that the Protheans had more to offer in helping with the Reapers, and if this is true, then Liara, being your Prothean expert, may be essential in making use of whatever it is.

I love how fans seem to want to kill every character that they don't agree with. I can understand the hate, but, as soon as we start talking about "KILLING THE *****" I'm lost.

Only character that I've ever "killed" was in a tower on Virmire, and that was completely unavoidable.

Really, how many times do I have to say that I *like* Liara...

And the haters will always be more disturbing than the fans, no matter the character. You think it's a waste of time to be discussing a fictional character? How much more of a waste of time is it to be trying to get on the nerves of those people all day? Sad.

Yeah, take Zaeed. He can handle a boulder-sized piece of metal to the face. Don't bring Tali, you'll cringe. And then hate your Shepard for letting it happen.

It's so jarring to see Shepard throw his/her arms around Liara instead of his/her love interest.... Especially if Shepard's love-interest is someone "fragile" like Tali. I mean, I get it if your love-interest is Liara, but for everyone else, it just doesn't make sense! Sorry, Liara, you're adorable, but I will always choose to save my love-interest over everyone else, every time.

[Snipped list]

Tali is a legend among the Quarians and talked about as a potential Admiral, the VS is a Spectre, Wrex is ruler of his species and Garrus is the goddam Batman.  All the ME1 squadmates get to be someone special.

Liara getting her own DLC is favouritism - together with a reflection of how crappy her treatment in the ME2 main game was - but the rest isn't particularly special.

Liara stands right next to Shepard (and gives her speech), the second squadmate not.

Shepard can only reach Liara.

Yeah, the only time I've done that DLC, I brought Miranda along. When I pushed Liara out of the way of the flying table and Miranda got "knocked the **** out" for the duration of the fight, I was livid.

My advice, if you haven't done that DLC yet, don't bring your LI along.

Yes, all of the characters are special, but Liara is th eonly one who gets massive amounts of content and attention from Bioware. Where was the DLC with awesome romantic content for the Virmire Survivor? Ash and Kaidan also got "crappy" treatment in ME2, but they didn't get their own comic or a DLC or several plot points in ME2 (Shepard's body, the dogtags, the information about Samara and Thane, and two mini-game side-quests) or an extremely flattering focus in the Genesis comic or required interactions to progress the plot in both ME1 and ME2.

Oh yeah, and she's the only squadmate who can't be killed.

So yeah, Liara is pretty "special" when compared to the other love-interests.

Some people here are just jelly because their favorite character get less screen time and plot time. I don't care because any one with a logic would have taken Liara :police:

Also I belived the most romance character in ME1 was Liara. It is normal they would do something with her.

Somehow every time I hear LI suffered in this situation with the name of LI given, this happened to be Jack. Accidentally did it on my last playthrough (just wanted to hear that SB will say to her and forgot about resulting scene). Now I understand that I'll better youtube what he'll say to Tali.
About "nothing special about this list" - I see, this may be just a matter of perception

True. However, why must the other person get knocked out? Why do you have to fight the Yahg with only Liara to help you?

Not true. Shepard is flanked by both Liara and his/her second squadmate. They stand on either side of Shepard. To save his/her love-interest instead of Liara, Shepard would have had to simply jump to his/her right instead of the left.

And even if Liara was a little closer to Shepard than the second squadmate, it doesn't mean that Shepard shouldn't have tried to save his/her love-interest! In fact, most Shepards would have chosen to throw his/her arms around his/her love-interest over Liara!

I would have preferred if my Shepard threw his arms around Jack, realized that she'd passed out, and then joined Liara in the fight. That would have been acceptable.

The Shadow Broker is her story,   most characters should have something similiar.

I don't hate her, I just find it bizarre that every Shepard is compelled to treat her like a long-lost best friend when you could be constantly rude to her in ME1.

You mean kind of like the way Tali still revered you even if you treated her like dirt in ME1?

Actually, that one makes more sense: call it a mix of mis-applied stockholm and childish crushing, which rarely has to be logical. 'Abrasive authority figure' can actually often ben intriguing and attractive in its own right, like tough Sergeants in military culture. Tali being 'young woman crushing' just falls into 'women who don't mind abusive relationships.'
