Could be. Not sure the repetitive swooning is necessary for that, though.

Swooning is bad.

Worse is that the dialog was the same each time...even Shepard's dialog.  So yeah, it felt unnecessarily tacked on.

Genesis was a joke. BioWare was trolling you like you've never been trolled before. Apply a UV light to the Genesis title page and you will see a giant troll face grinning at you from beneath the surface layer. The end.

I laughed.

Especially considering Genesis doesn't have actual pages.

Hey, Jlb, what is your actual thoughts on Genesis anyways?

I didn't pay enough attention to the writing to comment on that.

Sweet lord.... I had forgotten how much I utterly loathed that Genesis comic.

Then again, I'm a PC player who started with the first ME, so I don't ever have to deal with that s***. :P

You guys do realise that Liara isn't the only damsel in distress.

Both Ashley and Tali have to be saved not once but three times each. And they have done nothing for Shepard.

Liara only had to be saved once and she paid Shepard back by saving him when everyone else gave up or saving Shepard from Vasir.

She is hardly a damsel in distress. Unlike say Ashley or Tali whose ass Shepard has to constantly save and still he had to go through that crap on Horizon.

Ah, yes, the old "defend my LI by bashing others" tactic. How mature I frequently find it.

Btw what the fu*k is that picture of that abomination of an asari. Is that what Liara looks like?

I am a pc player who played Mass Effect 1. Back when it came out. I am glad I played it.

For Ashley: Eden prime, Vermire and Horizon. Oh! For a male Shepard twice on Eden Prime.

For Tali: The Citadal, Freedoms progress and Halestorm, not mention bailing her from Exile.

Its like the western version of Liara's bishojo statue.

In other words a western abomination.

Damsel in Distress isn't just being saved. If that's the case, every single companion is a damsel. It's an archetype, which both Liara and to a lesser degree Tali fill.

Though, that isn't to say that is their only characteristic either. It's just that in Liara's case, that was her defining feature in the first game, the shy, naive girl rescued and swept off her feet by the dashing commander.

Eh my Shep only had to save Ash's ass once. She's kind of dead.

Tali and Ash at least didn't feel the need to constantly swoon.

The recycled dialogue made it seem almost like a glitch. Broken record.

Swoon means to faint. She never actually faints. She gets light headed after you rescue her. Which is logical as she has been living without any nurishment for god knows how long.

The second time she translates your visions and she explains why it takes more of a toll on her.

Isn't that only when you go to Therum last?

Yes; it was actually pretty nice on Bioware's part to note the passing of time; you also get different dialog when you approach her in the ruins.

"I find your lack of death disturbing"

....sorry I couldn't help myself. Anyways as has been pointed out they clearly kept her alive due to her part in the story. They wanted her to be the new shadow broker for some reason or another. I guess it'll play an important part in the new game.

If by "mental breakdown" you mean "completely and totally hilarious hallucination dialogue sequence that should totally be the default no matter what but is cruelly only available to people who wait to recruit her until the story is almost over," then yes.

Depends. The SB plot was not used in ME2 and only had very few influence in ME1. Lets hope the SB will have some significance in ME3.
Until that day I'll keep it that way: Shepard can save the galaxy without the SB's help. :)
