There's still a few sidequests I've yet to complete.
Is it too late to get Isabella??

WTF.........
If you have an earlier save may want to use it. Isabela & Fenris are completely skippable if players unknowling dive head first into the Deep Roads.

I usually don't create multiple saves when I play, I just overwrite the main save over and over....

Sorry to say it, but you might want to start (creating multiple saves, that is).

Yeah, that's why I generally have 5 or 6 saves for each playthrough. It's a good habit to get into. That sucks though. Sorry Shin.
I used to keep multiple saves but it just got confusing after a while keeping track of all of them.
I literally did like almost every sidequest except going into the Hanged Man, because I just wanted to get into the Deep Roads already....wow....

Bartrand tells you to wrap things up first before heading out. They made sure to spell it out before moving on to each act so people would know it was coming.
Also I agree with the above advice make more than one save, 5-10 in case things really go south in a play-through.

What happens to her if I take her with me into the Deep Roads?

There should be an auto-generated save called "Year One" that's made right before you agree to enter the Deep Roads. Restore to that, go to the Hanged Man, and get Isabela. You even get another quest after you recruit her!
OMG PLEASE BE TRUE.
Gahhh, in class right now, can't check...

On a side note, is there a way to prevent Bethany from being taken into the Circle?
What happens to her if I take her with me into the Deep Roads?
Yes, there is. There's 3 options for Bethany:
1. Leave her behind, she gets taken to the Circle.
2. Take her to the Deep Roads without Anders, she contracts the darkspawn taint and dies.
3. Take her to the Deep Roads with Anders, she contracts the darkspawn taint and Anders convinces some Grey Wardens to take her with them and make her a Warden.
These are also the same options for Carver.
Also, if you choose option #1 or #3, she'll be the one kidnapped in Act 3's "Best Served Cold" quest. If she dies (#2), it will be either Hawke's love interest or whoever has the highest approval (friend/rival) score instead.

You want to be spoiled?

If you take her into the Deep Roads, she'll get the Darkspawn taint. If you bring Anders with you, he can take her to the Grey Wardens and they'll make her a Grey Warden. If you don't bring Anders, she'll die.

I'll be purposely vague (so you won't be entirely spoiled), but if you want to bring Bethany with you into the Deep Roads, be sure to bring Anders along. If not, she will die and there's nothing you will be able to do about it.

She does return to your party eventually, yes? Or is she gone for good? =/

Thanks guys. I don't mind being spoiled just on that one part, because I wanted her to stay in my party, but I guess that's not possible no matter what. I'll be sure to bring Anders with me the next time.

She'll make a few appearances again (without being in your party)... And you'll have the possibility to have her join you again for the final fight. So she'll join your party again but only at the very end of Act III.

She returns for the final battle if she lives, and will become a Force Mage (specialization) if you have the latest patch. Sadly, she does not get to be a full-time companion after Act 1. She doesn't get anything particularly special gameplay-wise if she's a circle mage or a warden except a different outfit. Her attitude changes depending on which path she took though.

It definitely exists on the PC version; I was using it last night for some mod experimentation I was doing last night. I don't know whether it does on the console, since I don't own DA2 for the console.

Had the same thing happen to me with Fenris. Only thing is I hadn't read any spoilers etc. and only realised I should have picked up someone else around Act 3 when I was flicking through the booklet and saw there was a voice actor for another companion.
Yes, my partner almost missed Fenris too!
He tends to practically always play a "lawful / good" type of character... So he systematically refused to do that whole thing with Anso about smuggling lyrium (a.k.a. the quest "Bait and Switch").
I kept ****ing about how much I hated Fenris and, just as he was about to enter the Deep Roads, he asked me "How did you get Fenris? Does he appear in Act II? I never met him..."
So, I ordered him to get over his "lawfully goodness" and go help Anso ASAP before entering the Deep Roads.

you may wanna create multi saves anyway for 2 reasons just in case the game bugs out so you can go to a previous save and try again (i had to do this in DA2 already) and 2 so in case you forget to get something or sell something.
From the sounds of it, there have been some file corruption issues since the last patch, so...multiple saves are a good habit to get into, for sure.
