 Hi,

I was wondering. We still don't know how many weapons we'll be able to equip. But let's say you can equip heavy weapons + two additional weapons and your squad is limited to two weapons. Which weapon classes would you choose for your Shepard and your squad?

I always edited the coalesced.ini file in ME2 and changed all the weapon loadouts so this is actually starting to look really good!

Example:
Shepard - Heavy Pistols, Assault Rifles, Heavy Weapons B)
Garrus - Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles ;)
Ashley - Assault Rifles, Shotguns :?
Kaidan - Heavy Pistols, Submachine Guns <_<

Also, would you really give Shotguns to your squad members? They are really bad with them I always thought. So maybe Bioware could come up with a way of making them more interesting. Or will you just give Assault Rifles to everyone?

Peace

My Shepard wouldn't care about no normal gun so she would go SubMachine Gun and Sniper Rifle.

Garrus and Tali as they were in ME2 is fine, Shotguns are okay for allies if you don't mind using change weapons when enemies are on a certain range.
(Would actually be nice to have a hotkay for that, companions does just have two guns after all...)

Liara would just go gun submac with me.

Ashley should have the same as you mention and Kaidan would hav a gun and a assault rifle for me >_>

Vega.......... Shotgun Sniper? Close and far ranged.

My Shepard would roll with just an Assault Rifle and Heavy Pistol. No heavy for me. I'd pretty much keep everyone as they were in ME2, except Jacob would have Pistols replaced with Assault Rifles (if he's in).

I would like to carry 2 or more guns of the same class..

Example: I play vanguard, I love the Eviscerator and Claymore. But I can only take two... I would love to equip, 2 shot guns, and a submachine gun.

Cant recall which thread, but it sort of has been confirmed.
Soldier: 4 weapons + heavy
Infiltrator/Vanguard : 3 weapons + heavy
Other classes: 2 weapons + heavy

Not trying to derail this thread or high jack it. Has there been anything showing the types of weapons that Shep can pick up from fallen enemies yet? I'd rather not waste the space and make a whole thread on this question.

My Shepard is a soldier thus all guns.

What I want to know is if Soldier Shepard will actually get to use all guns, they said the same for ME2 but Soldier Shepard couldn't use submachine guns.

Well, to Bogsnot1's post, I don't believe that has been in any way confirmed by a developer. That was some very early speculation that cropped up when the GI article went out, but it's probably a decent guess.

As to weapon pick-ups, I believe Christina Norman made a tweet some time ago saying something like that mechanic was being reevaluated. So it may not end up in the game at release.

I believe she also tweeted to say that squad members would each have 2 fixed weapon types like in ME2.

Personally, my Sentinel is going to roll with an AR and then I'll probably cycle through the other weapon types for my secondary.

@shadow: The only weapon pickup I have seen so far has been during the E3 demo, when Shep was just usnig a pistol, and then stumbled across an AR, Mattock frmo memory.

@Virginian: All classes now have access to all weapon types, but they are restricted to how many they can carry around. Soldier Shepard can in theory carry both AR and SMG now, but will only be able to carry 2 more weapon types, either shotgun, sniper or pistol.

Hmm, assuming that there will be 4 weapon choices for Soldiers and 3 for non-Soldiers, I'll go with this makeup

Soldier Shepard: Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and Heavy Pistols.
Non-Soldier Shepard: Sub Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles, and Heavy Pistols.

Garrus: Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles.
Tali: Sub Machine Guns and Shotguns.
Liara: Sub Machine Guns and Heavy Pistols.
Ashley: Assault Rifles and Shotguns.
James Vega: Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles.

Engineer
- Modified Vindicator (full auto, slower rate of fire, high damage, 20 round thermal clip)
- pistol (probably a predator)
- if we can ditch a heavy weapon for more ammo/grenades, I'm doing that

A concept I had was to assign each weapon a point value.

For example side arms would be valued at .5(SMGs and Heavy Pistols), Standard weapons would be valued at 1(ARs, Shotguns, Snipers) and Heavy weapons would be valued at 1.5. Also certain special weapons(presumably the collector base weapons could be valued at up to 2)

Each class would have a point value that would determine how many weapons they could carry. For example a soldier might have a point value of 6. They could carry 2 Standard weapons, a heavy weapon, a collector base weapon and one side arm(1+1+1.5+2+.5=6).

The order of points would likely go like this:
Soldier: 6
Vanguard: 4.5
Infiltrator: 4.5
Sentinel: 3.5
Adept: 3.5
Engineer: 3.5

I think this could add quite a bit of versatility to classes while also adding to thought as to deciding what weapons to use(do I want to carry a heavy weapon or would I rather run 1 less side arm and 2 more standard guns). It enables each class to play the same as post collector base(I basically assume that the collector base added +1 to the ammount of weapons Shepard had) or allows you to try different builds.

I'd rather SMGs and Heavy Pistols were just legitimate alternatives to ARs and other guns. It can be done. I do support having the option to not carry a heavy weapon, however. In fact, don't make us select more than one weapon at all if we don't want to.

Well my concept wouldn't require you to max out(for example you could choose to run both side arms and 2 standard weapons on say an engineer or you could just play with 1 weapon if you so chose).

While having all the weapons be equally viable sounds cool, it doesn't really make sense per se. A side arm is well a side arm. And while both a pistol and a rifle can both kill things it's pretty clear a rifle is going to be more effective than a pistol most of the time. While I support side arms being effective weapons, I tend to think they should be more niche than on par with an AR and a sniper.

I can see your point in regards to pistols, but an SMG I don't think should be considered a side-arm and I think they should have their place right alongside assault rifles as your go-to-gun depending on the situation and your play style. Specifically, SMG's should have a generally higher rate of fire and a larger clip at the expense of doing less damage per bullet. Their range should be worse than an assault rifle, but they should allow for better mobility: faster storm speed and quicker rolling, etc.

Well thing is, the game's SMGs are actually a misnomer, they actually far more resemble Machine Pistols than actual SMGs(although the locust and Tempest both look like actual SMGs they're still held like pistols). If they were to separate them(and actually have them hold the things right! jeez i cant stand playing either the locust or tempest just because Shepard looks so weird with them) into Machine pistols(which would resemble the Shuriken) and actual SMGs, I could run with that.

That is true, I guess I'm hoping that ME3 SMG's tend to more resemble the locust and ACTUAL SMG's than machine pistols. I'd prefer if they changed the Heavy Pistol category into just Pistols and lump in the hand-cannons and the machine pistol style guns like the Shuriken. Then we'd really have a true side-arm category.

I heard somewhere that Soldiers could carry all of the weapon classes at once. That would be nice. Can't wait to see what I can do with my Carnifex and Vindicator. Shuriken too now that Soldiers get SMGs.

this really bugged me too.  Especially the locust; Shepard would NEVER use the grip on the front.

Even if they don't give anymore weapon upgrades I would still like to have my upgrades transfered just for the sake of having them and the X-76f Revenant looks better than the M-76 anyway
