Behold, this is the toughest no cover fight I have encountered in ME2.

So far, I have not been able to get through the YMIR Mech, although I believe it is possible to do it without using any cover with a perfectly strategized charge chain.

This is it: my challenge to you few vanguards out there, ignoring the silly cover mechanic, which personally for me, made the ME2 action tedious.

This is, probably, my last video this year. Nevertheless, I felt compelled to upload this video, to motivate the completion of, what I believe, is the most intense combat this game has to offer. Unfortunatly, I am too busy for not only ME2 but video games altogether lately.

Without cover.

Best of luck and remember,

Charge is the answer. Use it.

Is there a video without stasis use?

Not that I know of..maybe medigel could be used to fight the mech without cover, but Stasis makes it much easier and faster.

Yea, sure looks that way after seeing the YMIR Mech getting two or three shotted without getting any damage off.

Not without cover afaik.

That was an unexpected pyro that killed you - never seen them during that part of the fight before.

I believe it is possible to kill the YMIR mech without putting it into stasis or using medi gel, by chain charging human enemies, I wanna see that done :-)

I agree, it should be possible, but it will take a lot of flawless charging and some luck :D

Or maybe using tall cover and playing hide and seek with the Mech (all other enemies dead) would work too.

But in the end, it just feels like too much extra work for no gain (compared to use of Stasis) IMHO.

Yea, for some reason challenges like that kinda feel empty for me now too, hence I wanted to pass it on :-)

That would be difficult especially considering the YMIR's preference to use its machine gun more often than usual (I recall).

Anyone tested using organic enemies to shield Shep form the mech's wrath? I know you can use mechs as cover when fighting two - but I never tried to get other enemies between Shep and the mech. Might be useful.

Yea, that was what I had  in mind originally, because YMIR mechs have a tendency to use rocket launchers when you have another enemy in between, giving you enough time to get some damage in.

What about using the Avalanche?

You might also consider taking Dominate bonus power. That (unexpected) pyro would have been perfect to both damage the mech and draw aggro.

Beware that Dominate only works on pyros during this fight - you'll be giving all other enemies a fresh barrier only (they continue shooting Shep and all the others ignore the target completely).

I almost got there but eventually just simply gave up on it. I suspect that elite players could do it or at least come a lot closer than I did.

BTW: I'm ok with barring Stasis as a matter of personal taste but I think also barring medigel is going a bit far .... at least for me. YMMV.

I tried it three times without Stasis. I got the YMIR + 1 regular + 1 Engineer twice. First time back-back Incinerate+YMIR rocket stagger, dead. Second time got the good ole Charge "wiff", and the YMIR mech took my lunch money.

Probably try some more after breakfast, hardest part is the very start and very end IMO.

update; hmm gave up on "no cover + no stasis" when the YMIR is out. However I did finish a run, dunno if it is considered "no cover" or not. I think I used the cover mechanic 5 times. All when the YMIR was out, no stasis used at all.

May try 100% no cover no stasis again. Closest I got was the YMIR 1/3rd of the way through armor. Then his machine gun owned me before I could get out of los around "Object Rho". Thinking about trying to leave one pyro alive, will be a pain to fight around him. pop dominate on him, and use him to tank for a few seconds. Then I could maybe get the YMIR to health and pop Pull on it.

ps: screw pyros
pps: why does their fire work through pillars :(
ppps: here is my video, maybe not the best attempt ,but im pretty sick of arrival lol

For me the Pyros were one of the sticking points. I would usually weapon change and hit 'um with an Arc Projector. [Charge didn't work well for me :)]

Another one was the troop layout. It would be fairly frequent that the bad guys weren't bunched together enough that Inferno ammo effected more than the target however you often had several guys close to you with clear lines of fire.

Charge wiffs didn't help much.

When the YMIR came out I certainly wasn't able to do enough bounce charging between enemies to make everything work. To actually do anything I had to hide in cover like a girl and take charges of opportunity rather than a full out assault. I also played a fair amount of run behind tall cover sorts of games which isn't overly in keeping with the OP IMHO.

that was a close call. I actually still haven't beaten object rho on Insanity. But I haven't tried it with vanguard yet... not that would make a difference ^^. I despise the video sequence just before this fight it gets really annoying if you have to reload and watch it again and again.

I agree. ME3 should allow you to skip any video that you've sat through at least once. The whole "you're forced to watch no matter what" thing stinks.
