kaiden becomes permanitly crippled, he can't walk anymore....

What I am asking is... Do you romance the characters because they look good or because of their personality?
For example I really dont like jacks personality and generally stay away.

Another way of putting it..... Does YOUR Shepard romance people for looks or personality? (Because maybe you made your Shep have a different personality then you.)

Note: This is the climax, I will be surprised if your team does not get injured at all.

Edit: Where there romances that you avoided because you did not like the way the character looked or acted?

Really hard to explain maybe if you set her on fire and gave her the ME2 garrus treatment then shot her up? I figured I would just let you fill in the blank so I would not have to go into detail...

I never romanced anyone save Jack.

I'd feel like I'm cheating on her , but that's me being weird. I care, and by extension , Sheppard cares . And i wouldn't be phased by anything thrown in the works to change that.

{edit: I did Capitain Kirk Liara , but she can take a hike. She's with Tephlon or whatever his name is ,so its for the best.)

Eh,  hmmm...  as horrible as this sounds can she still function?  Are the scars for the most part superficial or will she end up with difficulty moving and the like thanks to damaged flesh.

Difficult...  I can say I would try my hardest to make it work and yet I'm not sure I or a few of my Shepard's have the emotional fortitude for that.

Garrus got half his face shot off and I thought he looked even cooler. Would I still like him if he lost an eye and got a wicked eyepatch on top of everything else? Of course!

In all seriousness, I liked Garrus based on his personality and voice first, then became attracted to his looks because of that. If he became seriously injured (again) in a way that made him look hideously deformed, I'd still pick him over anyone else. Although I'd shake my fist angrily at the devs for making the poor guy go through that. Hasn't he had enough?

Miranda: I get with her in a heartbeat as I'd be scarred like hell as well! Scars mean something to some people and not necessarily the popular belief either. (ie: the Renegade scars - I earned these mofos) - especially if you use the "It's all I know" thing. Like with and ironically Miranda! They've been through some sht! (Not excluding the other characters from ME2 who had "hardened" back stories: Garrus, Thane, Samara and Morinth (despite Samara "being at peace." She'll never get over killing Morinth, but she had to! "This monster ... she is my daughter!" That line gets to me every time!)

Hmmm, it varies by the Shepard.

Devon Shepard and Simone Shepard both romanced Liara, and they'd both still love her even if she had a terrible scar. It was never about her looks with either of them. With Liara it is a true meeting of the minds, especially for Simone, who share's Liara's "bend the rules" mentality. Devon is a lot more of a rules-follower, but he knows Liara has the purest of intentions and trusts her implicitly. The galaxy couldn't ask for a better person to fill the role of the Shadow Broker, and his own association with Cerberus rather takes the wind out of any objections he might have regarding her methods.

Leah Shepard romanced Kaidan, and would not have a problem with him being unable to walk. She's very analytical, and it would be kind of a "problem to solve" more than anything else. She would spend hours trying to devise some sort of medical/mechanical exoskeleton that Kaidan could control using his biotics.

Martín Shepard is gay, and therefore hasn't romanced anyone. He had a crush on Kaidan kinda, but nothing major. If Kaidan was in a wheelchair, it wouldn't necessarily make a difference to Martín though if Kaidan was interested. Martín has had a harsh, tragic life, and a wheelchair is small potatoes compared to some of the things he's seen.

Ethan Shepard has bagged Ashley and Jack, but if they became disfigured, he'd bolt. He's kind of bored with them anyway. He's got his eyes on Kelly and Miranda now, Jack's already too clingy. And Ashley, though she was a hellcat in bed as promised, totally hassled him on Horizon. Pfft, yeah, he so hit that and quit that.

Ashley Shepard slept with Kaidan, but it was more just to see if she could. She doesn't care about him at all, and neither did she care about Jacob. She slept with him too, and then he got a rocket to the face during the Suicide Mission (along with just about everybody else). Ashley is incapable of love or empathy or anything like that though, so any relationship she's in is strictly for her own gratification. Morinth fascinates her in an odd way, she can't seem to stay away from Starboard Observation.

Shepard would have to be pretty shallow to care about these things. Although I guess that's believable since most of the LIs are very attractive. But I've never played Shep that way. My Shep would be more concerned about how these injuries occurred. Liara would be beautiful to Shep even with a scar but Shep would want to kill the guy that cut her. Besides a renegade Shep has some pretty epic scars so she wouldn't have much room to complain.

I really wanna say I'd stick with Ashley... but compared to the treatment the other LIs got hers is the most gruesome. I've people who have been burnt in the face, it's not something you can avoid by just looking in their eyes. I'll try to see if it can work, but if the burn is as bad as I envision it (I'm thinking either road rash or acid bad, google the pics to see what I mean) then I doubt that's simply possible.

Compared to that though, every other LI sounds fine. I imagine Miranda's scars to be like this and even then that's not too bad.

I didn't romance Tali based on her appearance. I romanced her based on her personality. Seeing her face wouldn't change her personality. My Shepard looked happy enough with what he saw, so that's good enough for me.

My Shep hasn't romanced anyone due to personalities no matter how beautiful those asking have been...so pretty much, so long as the prospective catches his heart with who they are, their beauty doesn't play a role...though that said, if they looked like a Vorcha it would definitely take a lot more dedication on Sheps behalf, would he be able to deal with such an extreme, I don't know, it would challenge him.

MaleShep - He loves Ash but part of that attraction is her lips and eyes. It would crush him to see her face disfigured, but he would stay. He honestly couldn't see another woman having his children and hopes they look like her.

Seriously , its just not the person i am. She might be a couple lines of programming , but she's real enough that i give a damn. Moreover its not like i stand to gain anything from romancing anyone else; They all pale in comparison. I'm one of those idiots that still believes in Trust, Loyalty , Disciple and all that nonsense (And not just saying it , but cultivating it.). I suppose this attitude seeps in every play through.

I don't think its that unusual to build an attachment to fictional characters . The worst par of the game was, for me , after rushing through , and getting back from, the Suicide mission only to get one extra line from Jack . If Bioware had any wits they'd switch appearance DLC for extra dialogue packs, one per squadmates and up the price 3 times. Actually keep the appearance pack but sell the "Cat suits" as DLCs as well and keep to the combat ready look as default.

There , i just made you a couple millions more Bioware. Hell i should be charge marketing.
