Yup, I didn't like the way she looked nor the way she acted.

And yes, my canon Shep genuinely loves Garrus and would stick by him regardless of how horribly mangled he might end up. I can't honestly say she ever loved Kaidan, but she likes him well enough as an ex friend.

Edit: There are deal breakers, though, including being abusive toward Shepard, cheating on her, and smoking.

Hello. Here's my insight; does your opinion matter on these extreme hypotheticals? Chances are Bioware will not totally butcher your LI especially the female ones. Don't worry, I'll leave the girls to their doll houses but can you answer that?

Yeah, my Shep does. She went into a relationship going in knowing she wasn't going to have a lot of time, and she did it anyways.

She also did it in hopes that it would bring forth frothing fan rage, and King Zeel appeared. It worked!

We get that your shep has no integrity and is just there for some fun before moving on to the next.... But the discussion is about Shepard and not on how all LI's will be butchered.

Didn't Shep buy that Facial Scar regeneration thingy for Doctor Chakwas for something like 50000 platinum?

So if the LI becomes severely disfigured I'll probably wring them through the machine... add a nose job while I'm at it.

Considering what they can probably do with reconstructive surgery in the era, most disfigurements could likely be healed. In the mean time, sure I'd stick with the people I romanced ... romanced them because I liked them, not because they were gorgeous.

As for people who ended in situations where they couldn't take care of themselves ... that is a huge responsibility and not one I'm probably up to on my own. Thankfully I could always hire a nurse to handle the unsightly stuff ... but there is always a point at which it would just be too emotionally difficult to deal with.

Honestly, I don't find any of the LIs attractive despite loving their romances and personalities, so I wouldn't be terribly broken-hearted if they were scarred or something.

As for Shepard, it would depend on the Shepard. My current Shepard plans to stick with Liara, and Liara cared through her through death, so most doubts about the relationship have been erased.

Your shepard is you, and romance is your choice. The only romance my shep care for is Tali.

It depends on how you play your Shepard, of course. In my case:

Female Shepard decided to enter a relationship with a terminally ill man. She knows what she's going to have to do, how she's going to have to take care of him and watch him fade away. It is not going to be a pretty death, and it's going to take a toll on her, but she's not leaving his side. She knew what she got herself into, and isn't about to change her mind.

Male Shepard romanced Jack. Frankly, if he has that much patience and compassion to handle her, I don't see him leaving her because she got a few scars or lost an arm.

So no, for me any sort of horrible accident/ect. won't really affect how my Shepards feel towards their respected LIs. However, it doesn't mean that they aren't personally affected by it.

My shep reflects my own convictions pretty strongly. If Liara took a blade to the face, my shep would certainly still love her until he dies again.

But if we're talking hypotheticals, it would take something seriously damaging to make this discussion relevant, as one would think 22nd century facial reconstruction would be pretty freakin good.

I suppose if your Shepard is the hit it and quit it type (God I hate that term but yeah I used it).  But let's assume he's not.

If that's the case then, for my Shepard - I suppose it all depends.

If say, Ashley was horribly disfigured or disabled or something my Shep would still be with her.  No doubt.  But that doesn't mean it would always work out.  I suppose it would depend on both of them.  Of course it would change things - to say it wouldn't would be silly.  But it depends on how both people are able to adapt to those changes.  There's no reason someone who has suffered a disfiguring accident has to lose the person they love.  But it's still a relationship like any other in that sometimes it will work out and sometimes it won't.  

If she were in a coma or something and there was no hope in her waking, that's not really a relationship.  Any healthy individual would have to move on in some way just to stay sane and happy.

This is kind of a morbid line of questioning but it's still interesting to discuss a bit I think.

Actually... as you point out Sakanade each Shepard is different. These forums give us a medium to talk about the differences and similarities between our Shepards, thus that's all the reason we need to create a thread like this. Just because you don't think it nessecary does not mean others don't want to have some fun talking about it. An example: I don't care about the Miranda thread, but I don't begrudge those who do.

And yes, we know Shepard isn't real. If someone did think s/he was, well that person is obviously not well and in need of medical attention. But speculation and discussion are fun. I don't own a football team, but I still play some fantasy football. In the end, it's pointless but its fun and is a good time waster (i.g. should be finishing an art assignment now... woot procrastination! )

But your disagreement is all a part of the discussion, and I thank you for your arguments. As long as everyone remain civil and respectful we can still talk and not decend into silly bickering (at least any sillier that arguing on a forum about a video game can be! )

Oh, and I think my character would stick with their love interest, in this case femshep/Garrus.
