Mike Laidlaw stated here: http://social.biowar...ex/7697770&lf=8 that the next dlc is called Legacy and can be activated at any point in the story.
Thoughts? I for one would've prefered dlc that takes place after the end of DAII.
Update: Stolen from Sengoku no Maou's post on pg. 7

'fool me once, shame on you'

i'd very much like for this dlc to be good, but i'm not holding my breath, and i'm not buying it at release, if at all. forget the whole DA2 fiasco, i'm still bitter about witch hunt.

I'm with you. I'll wait until I see some gameplay before buying, considering that the dlc will also force me to play through the game again.

I'm very leery of anything DLC at this point. But it seems EA won't support a real expansion pack, so that's where we are.

I'll buy it right away. If I'm disappointed, then I'm done.

I would rather they make a DLC that fixes Act 3 in all of the mess that it is. Or at the very least when (if) DA3 comes they have what happened in Act 3 be very different from what happened in Act 2. Meaning a pro-mage Hawke didn't kill a certain mage at the climax.

Would it be a retcon? Sure, but it would be one that people would be happy for.

Excited & thrilled.

But I need some more details.

Is it "just" a story DLC? Bioware stated that it listened to feedback & applied it. So...does this go for this DLC's story exclusively or will this DLC include some core fixes/options etc. that a Patch cannot cover?

It's longer than the DAO DLC but shorter than Awakening. Hmmmmm....that can mean anything or nothing.

Several DAII VO actors were teasing about this on Twitter....so the companions won't be mute & the sibling can be involved. Good.

It can be played at any time after Year one........so no connection to DAII's main plot themes? Or are there changes depending on just when you pick it up?

They took their sweet time to make this to be sure it will be well received. Good.

All in all, I want it. And more. So here's to hoping that Legacy will be amazing.

Source?

As for Legacy, I'll buy it. If it's really horrible, then that could be a problem. Otherwise, I don't care. But then again, I'm one of those who sort of liked DA2.

I'm not sure that core fixes included in a non-free DLC would be a good move. Actually, I think it would be the worst move ever in the history of bad moves.

That's something I was hoping for. It still isn't enough to dream up anything else.

I'm shamelessly looking forward to the release of some new DLC. Image IPB

Now, I'm not going to let my hopes get inflated, not because I don't think Bioware will deliver, but because I want to be pleasantly surprised. If the content is engaging and adds to the overall story, I'll be a happy gal.

So long as we eventually get something set between the end game and Varric's interrogation I'm happy and I'm definitely happy its story based. I do want something that goes into those 3 years whether its DLC or DA3 I don't care. Personally I dont see how DA3 can cover those years because I'm pretty sure Hawke won't be the protagonist for DA3 or at least won't be the sole protagonist.

It seems means I'm guessing. As for the logic of my guess, their marketing vehicle as a whole. They like DLCs. It's an established pattern with their games. They don't like expansions, because the common belief in marketing is DLCs give better return for investment.

And I didn't hate DA2 either. But I didn't support DLCs in DA:O, on the whole, either. I believe they're a cheap way to extract money from someone who's already paid for the product. So unless a DLC is of significant value for the money, I've no desire to turn my single player gaming experience into a MMO money sink.

I'm very happy to have some kind of news. I have no opinion of its content since it is way too early to form one. I'm just happy to have a reason to put my DA2 disc back in after 3 months (and counting) since I got 100% in March.

How do I feel about Legacy? Its just a word at this point. When its more than just a word, I'll be able to judge how I feel about it.

Well, I kinda beg to differ. Only kinda, mind. Small content for little money is fine. Even the small items DLC has cost them money to make, after all (still waiting for hi-res on that one, btw, but that's another story).  Bigger money for expansion. Seems fair to me.

(Of course, The Game That Must Not Be Named has free DLCs, hence the "kinda", but  they're small ones).

Plus, DLCs aren't MMO money sink, really. MMO make payment mandatory. It's pay or don't play at all. DLCs remain optional.

Why?

I mean....making the enviroments in DAII a bit more diverse & thinning out the waves? Maybe polish up the look of Kirkwall and its inhabitants?

Because then those who won't / can't buy the DLC wouldn't have access to those fixes, people would complain that Bioware make them pay for something that should be free of charge (like, say, the hi-res pack at the game launch), and they would be right.

And I'd hate for haters to be right. :(

Make a certain Circle mage live? I really enjoyed his character and thought he was a great person. To see what Bioware did to him for a pro-mage Hawke, I cried Image IPB

But isn't that what CDProjekt did with The Witcher Enhanced Edition?

Possibly. I had the EE directly. But if memory serves, EE was included in a free patch for those who had the base version (1.04, IIRC).

ETA: Yep, that's it: witcher.wikia.com/wiki/1.4_patch
