Did the "ancient evil" look a lot like The Architect or did I just imagined it?

You didn't imagine it, I thought it looked like the Architect, as well.

Not buying this thing. Fool me once, etc.

It's a vague resemblance at best, but the "ancient evil" is a Darkspawn.

Legacy the video <film spoiler?>.... After seeing the first move by a critter being the Arishoks charge  <complete with pillar> I'm a bit doubtful.

Companion interaction also seems to be absent also making me even more doubtful I'll buy it.

Legacy - shooter edition

I'm doubtful there will be any companion interaction other than a few grunts.

You saw a couple of screenshots and a 1 minute preview, how the heck could you possibly come to that conculsion based on that little amount of info?

Some of the companions' VAs have made vague hints that they returned to do voice work. Vague hints were really all they could do.

Agreed and I apologize - you are right. When I finally reflect why I didn't like the video - it wasn't the video so much as the speech afterwards that ****ed me off.

Hard to say. In general I thought DA2 was good but had a bad ending plus several different problems throughout the game. I thought Witch Hunt and Return to Ostagar were both a waste of time although Shale was allright. I'll wait to see how it is received first.

At any rate, it will be very interesting to see the approach from the devs. Will give us a lot of clues at how they have interpreted the criticism. Since that criticism has largely been all over the place there could be a whole lot of different things done.

How do you retcon a game? If you mean the story, that's just silly.

The environments seem to use the same non-colours :(. I wonder if that's an engine or an art style thing.

The whole game can't be retconned, because that's just foolish. Certain things, like Orsino's fate on a pro-mage playthrough, should be retconned however.

Bioware isn't going to rewrite what happened just because the fans think it should have been done differently. What's done is done.

Its a tuff one, i want to like Dragon Age again since i loved DAO to its death (aka i just cant play it anymore xD). Then came DA2 and it utterly killed the DA franchise for me (harsh but true), i lost all interest in "whats to come next".

And the skeptic in me just cant belive this next dlc will undo anything. But i will definitely keep an eye on it and see what reviewers and players alike has to say befor deciding anything.

It would be funny if screw-up Hawk accidentally let loose this super evil darkspawn that has been safely locked up for hundreds of years.

If Bioware hasn't fully gotten the message that DA2 was horrible, I would hope that users can send the message more clearly by not buying into the short "we hear you fans" fluff that Bioware threw out there to sell another cash-in attempt off of this horrible game, as if a rip-off DLC would do anything near what's needed to redeem this game. Hopefully, the low attach rate of DLC can convince them that they should have already moved on from this wreck of a title.

I can't say I'm optimistic.

They tried to make a black and white issue gray and failed. There are no words for how bad they failed with the reasoning that making Orsino do what he did would make the end of Act 3 a "gray issue".

I haven't seen one person say they like what Orsino did on pro-mage playthroughs

While I did not like to see the event occur, I was rather happy to see the re-occuring monster involved as it had been mentioned as being included ages ago, and I was actually awaiting to see when it woulf drop in for tea.

So I have pay $10 for Bioware to address a small list of the flaws plaguing this game, namely the recycled environments, the not so tactical combat and character customization which has more in common with weapon customization.

Ah......Yeah.....

Fool me Once, Shame on You.
Fool me Twice, Shame on Me.

Ah, DA2 DLC finally. I'll pass, thanks. If I come back here and read rave reviews on it, I might purchase it then. Unfortunately, I felt so burned after DA2 that I don't even know if I can bother to purchase anything this particular team puts out.

I mean, it really says something when all the Mass Effect fans were THANKING the devs on the boards for pushing ME3's release back so they could fine tune the quality of the game. That's the kind of effect that DA2 had on Bioware fans as a whole--"Thank you for pushing back one of the most anticipated games of this year....to next year. We're so happy you're making us wait."

....lol. It is kind of funny when you actually think about it. I just feel so bad for what potential Thedas and the Dragon Age series could be.

I really hope this DLC is spectacular, but my cynicism outweighs it.

More linear maps, more ridiculous anime-styled hack-n-slash, and seeing how it's DLC, I doubt there would be any significant choice or consequence that will impact the game.

Cliched story about some trapped evil that is going to be unleashed, Fable III-styled weapon customization... the 'Pillar of Critical Chance'? Are you kidding me?

I can go on.

Honestly... if THIS is the best that the DA team than this franchise won't be going anywhere.

The DA team just doesn't understand who their core fans are and what drew them to DA in the first place.

The ENTIRE selling point of DA:O was being a "spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate"

Why would you then suddenly forget about that and start ****ing that it's not Dragon Age: Origins 2? Do you honestly believe that people bought DA just so they can see the franchise turn into the total opposite right after the sequel?

Honestly, just give Laidlaw another JE2 or use a different IP. I won't mind if Bioware go producing action games but don't go butchering promising franchise by turning 180 degrees with the sequel and not expect people to be downright pissed.

This doesn't look interesting at all. Looking at discussions around the Internet regarding this, it seems a lot of people are even going to boycott the dlc just to get their point across to bioware that they dont like the direction the franchise is going in. :( while I'm all for second chances, I can understand their reasons to do so as they feel betrayed after the whole baldurs gate successor promise. This is biowares version of dynasty warriors. :P
