I was interested when the trailer was loading....
But the excitement fully disappeared once I saw Hawke's bland face, Anders glowing and just the general lack of detail on pretty much everything.
It's still DA2, and it's still a sub-par game by BW standards.
Skipping all DA2 DLCs, personally, and I decided only AFTER seeing that trailer...
Gonna wait for DA3.
The nonexistant trailer?...
Here you go, legacy trailer:

Eh, not to agree with the tenor of some people here, but there were a few things I didn't like.
1) Whoever named those pillars must have been, in fact, the janitor.
2) A pride demon that can create mirror images of itself isn't exactly an innovative boss battle to entice us with.
3) the wooden area with the ramp may be unique, but the elements used do have a pretty generic, unimpressive look about them. More boring brown sandy stuff.
The janitor would come with better ideas in my humble opinion... (Pillar of Cleaning, Pillar of Hot Coffe)
Naming an in game highly magical pillar with such no-imaginative names is just wrong...
This is just like naming a sword " of +%3 Physical Damage and +29 Attack"
How hard to create 12 lines of "Mystical" names is? İts beyond my low understanding and i dont think i will ever understand it.

But really, does the sucky names surprise anyone, it is in line and consistent with the DA2 naming conventions.. like the rings, or Ornate Rings..

I'm trying to keep an open mind on this DLC, and judge it for what it's worth, and think that it looks like there might be some good things in this DLC, but I don't think anything can save this abortion of a game. (Especially because the combat and art style are still broken)
@Filament & Cyberarmy: I must've missed the name of the pillar. What was it? It's disappointing to hear that they've continued the tradition of uninspired names that was started with DA2.
I mean honestly, Kirkwall, Darktown, Lowtown and Hightown? Who came up with THAT? Just take a step back and think about it, were you trying to put the most basic names possible into the game? Are you incapable of dreaming up something that seems at least something like inspired fantasy writing? Was your imagination damaged or something? It's just mind numbingly poor writing. Go back to coming up with names like "Thedas", "Ferelden", "Lothering" and "Orlais." These names are inspired. DA2's are a joke.

@Corto 81: Yeah, Hawke's douchebag face really puts me off too. Too bad it's at the very start of the trailer. It's not good to start off on the back foot like that when you're trying to impress people. (I have never seen someone so punchable in my life) Tip for Bioware: If you want AWESOME, then kill off Hawke, and then I'll respect your awesome.

Kirkwall was already created by DA:O, Darktown because it's dark, lowtown because it's low, and hightown because it's high, what would you name them? And you do know Thedas= The Dragon Age Setting...Not exactly super original, learn to research.

I wouldn't call Thedas extremely inspired name, I always sigh a little when I see it.. but yeah, the naming in DA2 is baaad.
The Dragon Age Setting.. really? come on.
Edit: bah, then someone steals my thunder, damn you!

Darktown comes from the fact that it's dark??? Lowtown because it's low??? Hightown because it's high??? Thanks! I didn't know that at all!!! Thank you Captain Simpleton. I couldn't have worked that one out if it weren't for your pearls of wisdom. Have you taken the MENSA test? Because I think you should.
For a second, I thought that a bland name couldn't be excused because it shows an utter lack of imagination, but you showed me the way.
Oh, and what would I name them? Hmmm... I dunno, maybe something not unbelievably bland and generic maybe? I think I'd start there. I'd also engage my imagination for a second. I know that's a little tough from somebody who sees no faults in names like "Darktown" and "Hightown", but trust me, that's where I'd begin.

The pillars appear after Hawke defeated yet another mirror imaging demon. There are 4 of them, and i think you can only pick one from each Seal.
While it is not a big impact, at least it gives us some variety but then BAMMM the naming stikes again...
Oh btw Darktown is never "that" dark...

^^ I agree with artstyle and combat to some degree, altough, combat is not something they can fix with a dlc, and don't expect it. I think we saw a few pillars, namely, mystical pillar of critical chance, of stun chance etc.

I absolutely agree, and am not expecting them to change combat or even the art style with DLC. (A new art style would look ridiculous in a DLC for a completely different looking game)
Overall, I've actually been quite positive about the DLC, because it shows some marked improvements, and some genuine potential, however I won't be getting any because DA2 just wasn't good enough, and it needs to be entirely revamped to retain my interest, something a mere DLC will not accomplish.
It's just diappointing that the horrible naming seems to have continued in this series.
I just hope that the DLC shows that there might be something to look forward to in the next full game.

In all fairness i think there's a lot more wrong with DA2 than just the uninspired names.
And I agree 100% about DLC not revamping the game and anyone hoping it will, will be dissapointed, i will try to keep an open mind about legacy but its more of a refinement of the base game which i thought was nowhere near as good as origins.

Oh, don't get me wrong, there are way bigger problems than just the uninspired names. My post history will show that this is hardly one of my main criticisms, but it has been mentioned, and I'm hoping that it will be addressed.
I honestly feel like I could write a thesis length essay on the wrongs of DA2.

Ahh yes, I've seen them now. "Pillar of Critical Damage" and "Critical of Stun Chance", haha, how random. It actually reminds me a bit of The Fade in DAO. They seem like the Essences and Fonts that had names like "Essence of Willpower", "Font of Strength" and "Essence of Magic."

Is that how they came up with Thedas? (If it is that's really cool - do you guys have a source? But I do love games with little, lighthearted hidden things like that. Like Tseramed in Ultima 7 was Demarest, one of the designers backwards.)
That remind me Noob Saibot from Mortal Kombat. it was 2 designers names backwards Boon and Tobias.

And really, being the kind of guy that I am, making the DLC happen in a Grey Warden prison and have things about the Wardens seems to me that BW is trying to desperately appeal to the "Bring Back the Warden! We love the Wardens, I want a Grey Warden"-group.
Edit: and I forgot quotes, added a thing.

Plus i read a lot of people's posts saying they hope it retroactively adds new areas to kirkwall and changes the appearance of the darkspawn which is never gonna happen thats what i meant by taking the DLC for what it is
