Well that's a new take on things. It defiantly looks it would be an alpha.

So I'm guessing the architect's form is like the next stage in evolution for darkspawn?
Genlocks burrow to the surface to appear on the screen.
I think this one is an arcane horror, but with armor?

Ok I was looking foward to having a story that looks interesting but i forgot how retarded the dark spawn look in this game.
The Upper West Side is composed of neighborhoods with specific names: Morningside Heights, Harlem, Riverside, etc. But carry on. The anti-hater haters are amusing. lolPhaelducan wrote...
Yeah.... because clearly calling a part of a city by a geographical descriptor is bogus, lame, and pathetic. I'm looking at YOU, Upper West Side.

Yep, the derpspawn. I see skeletor is still with us. And now we have Genlocks who look like LoTR trolls who buggered gorillas and got some sort of fungus that turned their skins Kirwall Lowtown tan.

It's interesting to see what they're trying to do here, and I'm wondering if they've FINALLY accepted the fact of how bad DA2 simply was.
I'm not holding my breathe though and I CERTAINLY will NOT be WASTING my money to buy it on release. The collector in me WILL eventually get it though.
In my overall opinion, we should just drop DA2. It was a disappointment, and I don't think ANY amount of DLC (Which we'll have to PAY for mind you) or paches will fix that. We should just throw all our cards into making DA3 something to remember, like Origins.
If we're going down this road though, I am DEMANDING a FREE love interest DLC pack then. If you're gonna give me a sucky and pointless storyline, at least give me more kissy time with the boys and girls.

As opposed to Genlocks who... looked exactly like goblins? I mean, you might not like New!Darkspawn, but seriously the old genlock design was horrendous.
I remember playing Origins for the first time and waiting until the end of Ostagar to see some darkspawn. I seriously didn't realise the things I was fighting were actually darkspawn, I thought they were orcs and goblins and some darkspawn were going to show up in a minute.

Bad answer.

Still prefer them to zombie ape skeltor hybrids. I will say this, at least in the pics above they don't look as much like the LoTR troll. And again, the darkspawn design was not one of the flaws DAO really had that needed fixing.

Hehe, trolls who buggered gorillas, DA2, making things more mature by adding bestiality's love children.
I agree, DAO's Darkspawns were not perfect, but I thought they were far superior to the current design.
That and not telling the truth about Hawke "being able to determine the story plot" and such, don't make me want to trust BW. Enough is enough. Maybe they can get some of my trust back with Legacy. If it disappoints because of similar "unrealistic" marketing statements (and that includes promises made in the forums and interviews) then I'll drop DA3. That's just my viewpoint about it.Brockololly wrote...

I liked the Origins Darkspawn, perhaps a little more variation in facial features and armour between the spawn if we had them in DA2, but it didn't need to be redone entirely. Codecies say that they produce vast quantities of armour and weapons so I don't think they are going to be the most lovingly prepared equipment, but its going to be effective.
The new Hurlock weapons and armour, the swords look daft, the armour doesn't actually look like it serves any purpose and they move like planet of the ape rejects in a gimp suit with a skeletor halloween mask
The latest design, I really don't like. But, then again I hate a lot of the new art style.

I didn't have a problem with the DAO darkspawn; I thought that them being Orcs and Goblins with a twist was kind of the point of their look in DAO. After all DAO took the traditional Fantasy setting and twisted it.
EDIT:
I saw the DA2 darkspawn being referred to as "Clownspawn" and I totally agree. They just look comical and silly not dark and gritty.
Much of the art direction (and UI ) of DA2 was just stupid and nonfunctional.
