I liked DA2 and I am buying for sure this new DLC. I am hoping for a good 8-10 hours story quest, so BW please don't dissapoint me.

Seriously?
BW stated they would like to make upcoming DLCs beefier. Hence honestly if it should be longer than 2 h game play it would be a big surprise.

Actually they could add a new map with two or three new locations. Maybe some new enemies embedded in a decent plot. That’s it. In the end it’s only a DLC not a real expansion pack.

You must be dreaming! Soldier's Peak, Return To Ostagar, Witch Hunt, Stone Prisoner, Leliana's Song, Bring down The Sky, Lair Of The Shaodw Broker, Arrival, Overlord....... None of them even reached to 4 hours.... It's totally imposible that a new DLC will take the original game's 25% of time.

Mike Laidlaw refered to a DLC of Neverwinter Nights (he said that Legacy wouldnt be as long as that!). I believe that was around 25 hours. Now, I am not saying that it would be near that amount of gameplay time (cause that would be an expansion right?) BUT, he could have refered to Origins DLC which you are correct: around 2 hours of gameplay.. But he didn't...

So that makes me wonder... how big will it be?... :?

I think he compared it to SoU because it came up earlier in the thread, he wasn't implying anything by not comparing it to a DAO addon.

Awakening was bugged as hell but it had some good ideas and was "beefy" enough. I found normal DA DLCs pretty disappointing: short, boring to play and with few interesting moments plot wise. Hope this is better, but the "playable after reaching Kirkwall" news is a bit disappointing, I think ME2'S arrival suffered a lot (plot wise) for being playble after Horizon and not only in the endgame.

I'm glad that there's some new content but other than that I've got nothing to go by. I guess I'm a little disappointed that it's not a post-game expac but I'm hoping that will come later.

I'll be happy if its five to ten hours or so of gameplay with room for multiple replays depending on what decisions you make or what your party composition is like. If its just two hours or so, I'll cry.

How do I feel about Legacy? I don't feel anything yet. They haven't told us anything about it other than there is a DLC called Legacy.

I'm happy they've confirmed a DLC.

I have no love for the DA2 team at the moment, but don't you think that's a little bit premature?

Nope,no, it isn't
Considering DA2's bugs almost cost me a new console......

I feel kind of dissapointed.

I was hoping for an expansion rather than DLC, because I really believe that a DLC wont be enough to reverse that DA2 has done to itself with its flaws. DLC just isnt comprehensive enough.

As it is I wont buy it. Not at least until I know it does something more than re-add in content that should have been in from the very start. And it sounds like it does.

Makes me sad.

Re-add? You seriously think they would wait this long to release some cut content?

She was actually.

Both her and Zaeed due to time constraints were cut. She was intended to be in the game from the start, both Dev comments, and in game news items confirm this (news items prior to Stolen Memory came out).
Release date was pushed back slightly and it allowed BW to get out Zaeed but not Kasumi.

I should point out however that with ME2 I didn't mind paying for Kasumi even though she was cut content readded later. The reason for that was ME2 -felt- like a complete game to me so I didn't mind paying for the cut content like that (The Firewalker Pack as well now that i come to think of it was also Cut Content that was intended to be in the game from the start.

This is unfortunately not the case with DA2. Alas. DA2 -feels- incomplete, at least to me. So I really resent paying for cut content in bits and pieces at 5 quid(pounds, euros, dollars whatever) a shot. DLC can easily mount up in cost to the same as what you paid for the original game, and if a lot of it is merely cut content (and what little I have read on Legacy seems to indicate that it is to fill in the last few years of the ten year time period we were promised when we got 7) or rather content originally intended to be in the game but due to time constraints they didn't have time to put it in, then I would feel a little ripped off.

It's a shame because I really enjoyed DA2 up until the end of Act 2; it wasn't until Act 3 that it all really went horribly wrong for me.

To the OP I am ticked. I saw that post from Mike last night and my thought was 'you guys purposely created 3 year time lapses in the story so you could release dodgy Selley's Bioware gap filler DLC?'

Not happy Jan!

I was hoping we would get an actual expansion like Awakening. I should have known better. I certainly won't be forking over any money without reading reviews.

I seriously hope this meme never goes away, if only so it can serve as a warning to marketing people everywhere.

I seriously hope it disappears in some deep abyss never to return. Whatever marketing faux-pas was done, it's getting real old, real fast, wasn't really funny to start with and adds nothing whatsoever to the topics at hand.

And don't give me the "we have the right to criticize" old thing, because this isn't criticizing, this is "I love the sound of my own voice", "please pay attention to me", and "look, I am the funny" in a very childish way.

So Legacy... given the name, could it be related to the Amells or Hawkes story? Discovering what happened when Malcolm was in Kirkwall? Or something really special bout Hawke's lineage? I'd like that :)

Lighten up Francis.

They didn't need to add in large time gaps in DAO or ME2 to provide DLC so why would they have purposefully have added in the time jumps just for DLC?

They may not have implemented the time jumps very well but they do fit the overarching story they are trying to tell in DA2.

The fact that Legacy can be played at anytime in the game means it isn't one of the time jumps, perhaps it should have been but it's not, frustratemyself.

Since we have basically no information besides a name about it, I'm not sure how anybody could really have an opinion on it beyond the most broad strokes, knee-jerk ones.

However, in the realm of speculation, the only way I'm likely to buy it is if it continues the game past the current ending into that three-year period between the civil war and Varric's story. If it's just something that can be played at any time (or at least wasn't clearly designed to be played post-main quest even if it can theoretically be played whenever, like LotSB) and has no real party interaction, then forget it. I gladly bought Kasumi and Overlord for ME2, but the Mass Effect team earned my trust with their base game - DA2 did no such thing.

It'd just be weird to be able to jump around time (either forward or backward depending on when you start the mission). It's like Varric said, "Oh, I can't wait to tell you about this one time..." or a "Oops, I forgot to tell you about..."

I think it'll just be a stand alone storyline where it doesn't matter when the player starts it. Like Return to Ostagar or Soldier's Keep. (Although, I'm willing to bet it'll feel 'better' in Act 1 since you have your sibling, all the characters except Seb, and there's no Qunari threat or Mage thing that's more 'important' for Hawke. I always finish all side quests possible before starting the Act 2 or 3 missions because with the city about to tear itself apart it feels weird to have Hawke go off and deliver pants or take a time out to hunt for ingredients like the world stops when Hawke's not around. Personal preference.)

Maybe I'm wrong here, but that's the feeling I'm getting from it. It'd be weird for it to be one of those 3 years in one small DLC and it can be started at any time.

...I wonder if it'll do what the ME2 DLCs did (the later two) where it changes depending on what part of the game you do the story pack. I honestly hope so.

I'm pretty excited about Legacy. Sure another Awakenings would be good, but I really enjoyed Shayle's DLC and that was "play anytime during the game," as was Return to Ostagar. Both of those added a lot to the DAO story.

Hmm, it's too early to get excited because I don't know anything about it yet or even when it will be released. However, if it has a good story to it, companion dialogue, and a new map to explore I'll buy it. I may or may not buy it at release depending on what is released about it in the upcoming weeks. If there is a live griffon that could be a companion like dog somehow in it then I will soooooo buy it on release day the second it is avaliable, but I doubt that since they are extinct and Hawke isn't a warden.:) I'm guessing it may not come out til around August 9th, maybe a little before or after so I'll keep myself busy until then.

... along with the game.

Nobody is forcing you to play it, for heaven's sake!

And thank God for that!

So get over it and move on. You know, like an adult? ;)
