What happens to trolls like Zeel when/if they grow up?

Do they ever grow up !!?

As for squad banter ... it's pretty easy .. just few extra lines of dialog between squad memebers that have strongly similar/opposing mind sets .... that's almost the easiest part.

The harder part is getting them interactingt together, talking and moving around the Normandy ... that would add tons of perosnality and liveliness to the characters (like i said before isntead of the talking juke-box approach) ... have Garrus and Grunt grow some sort of rivarly ... have Mordin and Tali exchange info with Tali interested in Mordin's equipment and Mording interseted in Tali's/Quarian biology ... etc etc .. these relations could be shown exclusively on the Normany every time you board the ship you might (by chance) see a random encounter nvolving two or more of your crew interacting together ... Mordin and Tali in the lab talking about science stuff with lots of Techno-babble .. or Grunt and Garrus arm wrestling in the food quarters .. there are tons of interesting possiblities really .. and almost none of them was ever explored .. it will take a little bit more effort to implement but i'm sure it is every bit worth it.

-----------------------------------------------

And Zeel.. please stop embarrassing yourself ... seriously .. how the heck does having some games *not* implementing something makes it proof it is not possible ... really !!!? ... so all people who didn't climb a mountain before are proof it is not possible to climb a mountain .. what kind of crappy excuse for a logic is that  .. sigh *face palm*

Bethesda sorta did it right with companions, the sandbox mode where companions could walk around and interact with the player's home base. If only that could be worked into ME3.

I for one would like to see companions having relationships that don't center on the main character. Typically, when we see companions interact they are either gushing over the main character, fighting for the main characters attention, or just simply being hostile to anyone who isn't the main character.

I'd like to see some companion friendships for once, it's not like they don't have anything in common. Why don't the biotics on the crew ever talk about their powers, or what amps they like to use, or why don't legion and garrus talk about sniping or something, I don't know. I want to see the character's relationships change over time, maybe argue without Shepard intervening.

I'd just like to see them bond, become a true team and not just Shepard' Lackeys.

This here.

Garrus, Thane, Zaeed, and Legion talking about sniping would be schweet.

This reminds me the system in Kotor. And they were interactive like Bastila's slipping Mission's legs with force and lying after that: "Don't be stupid. I'm a Jedi and i haven't time for childish attitude". I remember we could influence them with our allignment to dark or light, but this scenes were not related to that. Integrating some interactions (also affected by our allignment) between our companions is not a bad idea. While More paragon leads more well-attitudes, more renegade can lead conflictions or even some fist to fist situations in lower decks.

Zaeed doesn't strike me as the sniping type. Seems like the charge-in-with-AR (Jessie) all the way.

Our companions need more interaction. I think it would be cool if you could be walking towards Garrus's hangout spot, and just outside the the door you hear him chatting with Thane on which sniper rifle works best. Or maybe Liara asking Samara questions on the Justicars. Or Tali talking to Legion about the Geth, Maybe Alenko, Jacob, and Zaeed swapping stories. Perhaps an ethical debate on xenaphobia between Ashley and Miranda.

The more, the better. The level of party banter in DA 1 and 2 is pretty good, I can't see why a similar grade of it couldn't be reached in ME too.

Huh. This thread certainly didn't go where I expected.

With the opinions that have been expressed in mind, which would you prefer Bioware to implement: DA squad banter, Normandy chatter, elevator style chats, or something entirely new?

First of all, no its not easy, citing a few games that does it means nothing. I could easily debunk that point by citing games that DON'T DO IT. So, how about we use some logic when arguing our points. Try this. Bioware can't do it because of the time constraints. The amount of **** they are "implementing" already. Thank the fans for all those useless features we are getting, instead of Bioware focusing on quality, we get a bunch of useless fan gimmicks.

If you're upset by the lack of companion interactions you've only got yourself to blame. you wanted more romances, well guess what? they have to cut down on something to do it. You wanted s/s romance, well guess what? They have to cut down on something to do it.

So suck on it folks.

Some people just spread sunshine wherever they go.

I'm pretty sure we all have different criteria for that subjective idea known as "quality". For some, a quality game is one where you can shoot somebody's head off in sixteen different ways, for others it's about a story and characters. For me, the game has always been about the story and characters. So I'd rather BioWare prioritize story and characters over combat and whatnot. But that's just my opinion, others will feel differently.

I'm not sure banter would work as good in ME when compared to DA. In DA there are certain points that starts the banter and in that game i find myself returning to Denerim/Hightown several times during the game, where i usually only visit Omega/Illium/Citadel twice or three times depending on how many assignments i get at once. I always only go to Tuchanka once.

Perhaps banter would work better when triggered after exiting combat or a conversation.
I'm no expert on all of this however so i can't say if that would be clunky.

But buttom line: I would like some more interaction, it seems odd for me that companions who work together for a long time as on the Normandy almost never chat or at least converse about jobs, etc.

That is true, perhaps a KOTOR-style conversation system (ie. enter the normandy and watch a short cutscene of squad/crew interaction) would work better for Mass Effect.

Still, I'd like see some camaraderie among squaddies, I always got the impression that my party members hated eachother in the KOTOR games and Dragon Age.

Perhaps squaddies can romance one another. Will that sate your unyeilding lust for camaraderie?

I would like banter between the squad, especially during fight scenes. A couple surprises would be nice too!

It would have cracked me up if during a fight scene Jack intentionally shot at Miranda ...
Miranda: "That was me you stupid b1t5h!"
Jack: "Well, get your fat 0ss out of the way!"
Miranda: "Fat? I'll have you know I-"
Jack flaps her hand around mimicking Miranda talking then flips her off
Miranda: "Why you ..."
The two then start going at it in the middle of the battlefield, screaming to high heaven while Shepard and the other side watch with mouths open.
Shepard: "Miranda! Jack! Stop fighting while we are in battle!"
Jack & Miranda stop their fighting, look at Shepard, then both turn .. aim their weapons and knock off the enemy who is still slack jawed.
Miranda: "Happy?"
Jack: "F0cking p0ssy!"
Shepard: Image IPB

Okay, I think that did happen in one of the fights .. at least in my head it did! But probably asking too much of Bioware.

Yeah, it was a great game... all the good portions of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and almost none of the bad. It did suffer from a lot of the JRPG-isms though.

I really loved how the companions would talk to each other in DA:O and I also enjoyed the elevator scenes in ME1. The cutscenes in KOTOR were nice as well...

Heck, I just enjoy random companion interaction. I think it's a great way to add character development and some of the conversations in DA:O and KOTOR nearly had me falling out of my chair laughing. The lack of it in ME2 was a little disappointing to me. The only out-of-the-blue conversation I encountered was when Garrus teased Tali in the Citadel. Which I still enjoyed, but wished there was more of.

I have a feeling bioware are adding this to ME3 considering how much we have been asking for it and even Casey Hudson said they create a list of items that need to be addressed for there games which is why ME2 changed to such an extent from ME1.

Just that they did not expect us to miss the banter as we did from ME1.

So i am sure we will have banter between them

ME 2 was more mission oriented than ME1, so the player banter would have to take place in areas where Shepard wanders around (citadel/omega). However, they could do it like they did in DA2 with cutscenes where crew members visit with other crew members at their base location. Arguably they did something similar with the Jack/Miranda and Tali/Legion showdowns, but they could definitely do some more.

I'd like some DA style banter, preferably innuendo filled. Not sure which character from ME could be as filthy as Isabela though.

More banter would be marvellous.

And maybe characters going to "visit" each other on the Normandy, like in DA2? You'd click on Isabela, and she'd just be finishing a conversation with Merrill. You hear a few lines, Merrill leaves, and then you have your conversation with Isabela. Something like that in ME3 would be lovely.

Hell, I'd be happy just to have conversations in lifts back. Or a post-mission debriefing, with input from everyone.

what i hated the most in masseffect 2 was that your companions would barely banter at all unless u came to specefic points in the level where it said "press a" and then one of your companions would comment about the scenery or something. the amount of character interaction was 10x the amount than in me2. i dont know why they cut that out, i mean its an integral part of an rpg for your companions to be more humanlike. another thing i hated was in cutscenes when your talking to a person lets say liara on illium i could see garrus and kasumi just standing there like lifeless zombies staring into space, i mean what the hell is that, breaking the immersion.

Less banter that the player has to stop and listen to like in DA, and more conversations with multiple companions or cutscenes of interaction between companions like in KOTOR.

This.

Alock1a wrote...

At least in ME1 your companions had conversations and asked each other questions while riding in elevators and such. There was very little NO interaction between companions in ME2...

Fixed it for you. Othe than in the Suicide Mission, the only people that knew eachother on the ship were Jacob, Miranda, Mordin, Joker, and EDI.

Bring ME1 styled debriefings back. And include everyone in the dialogue where appropriate. I think back to the mission on Illos in ME and all Tali does is say "the descent angle is too steep." when Joker tries to drop the Mako. During moments like that I think to myself "what the hell were they trying to do there?"

Have the debriefs be meaningful and realistic. This can be pulled off with a smaller squad. Which I hope is what they're aiming for. Kaidan/Ashley being the Alliance Rep gives us the "orders". Garrus/Jacob talks about enemy weaponry. Miranda handles intel and logistics; ect.

I would enjoy it if they took some cues from DA2 and had teammates interact with each other independently. Like when you went to the Hanged Man in Kirkwall, sometimes you'd find Isabela talking to Varric, or when people showed up at the Hawke estate, they would interact with your mabari.

sure, i learned to cope with the JRPG tropes .. as long as the overall game quality is this good i don't mind ... and i think one thing they did impressvely was the (companion x companion) interaction .. not only can you put them in pairs in the sleeping quarters  .. but i loved how while you are warping from one location to another you can walk around the ship and looking for them and see them doing all sorts of activities alone or with each other ... that added a lot of liveliness and perosnality to the characters .. i really wish ME3 could get some of those situations on the Normandy to flesh out the characters.

Examples:
-Garrus and Grunt being rivals and at random times you can find them on the normandy challenging each other to random stuff (arm wrestling in the food quarters) (weight lifting in the cargo area) .. etc etc
-Tali and Mordin havign scientific interests in each other (Mordin talks about his equipment and tech to Tali and Tali talks to Mordin about her people's biology) .. you can find them in the lab talking techno-babble or walking around the ship.
-Jack and Liara .. Jack could harass Liara with her biotics .. Liara retaliates  .. Jack dodges and Liara's biotics breaks some stuff on the ship .. Jack runs off laughing manically.
-Ashely, Garrus and Zaeed having a hardcore converstation about their fav weapons, weapon parts and how to best maintain you weapons .. also .. what is the best way to kill a Krogan ... all while Grunt watches from the shadows XD

I definitely wanna see some more interplay between the characters.

In ME2, there were only a couple scenes where any squad member said even one sentence to any another squad member, and even then it was usually just to show hostility to Jacob or Miranda for being part of Cerberus, or else regular party banter during some side quest.

There were a couple of deeper interactions though, for example when Jack got pissed off at Miranda and Shepard had to resolve the dispute. But in that case the whole scenario seemed kind of forced. Same as the fight between Tali and Legion and etc.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure Bioware is already working on this, which is probably one of the reasons why they're cutting back screen time for half the cast from the first 2 games and instead focusing on a smaller group of permanent squad mates.

I'm looking forward to it in any case.

Very true. SO:TLH get's quite a bit of criticism, but one thing it did very well was character interactions. You could really feel that sense of group unity and relationships building. You learnt what they thought of each other, how they got to know each other, and got a good insight into how everyone functioned with each other on the ship.
