I like her as an adversary but she's yet to survive any of my play throughs.

I think one of the best parts about Morinth is the posts you see about people asking how to sleep with her without dying "she said i would survive, what did i do wrong?" makes me happy to know she was convincing enough to kill off a few people even with all the obvious warning signsAdmiralCheez wrote...
Yep. I can sympathize with her a little and laughed my ass off when she hit on Grunt. Additionally, she's a serial killer that sucks your soul out with her braingina, which is disturbing, badass, and hilarious all at once.Mesina2 wrote...

Well we have to kill Samara to get her and all we got is a monster.
Hard to like her.
OK, VA of Morinth does brilliant job, that epic failure Shepard death is hilarious and that with Grunt.
But still, just that with that big cost?
No love from me.

Morinty is a lot of fun. I love her.
Way more interesting than her boring mother.

Certainly, as much as I love Samara (and even if I didn't, I'm not a fan of betraying people or trusting serial killers), Morinth doesn't survive very often in my playthroughs. However, I don't hate her. Okay, I hate what she does, but she's tons of fun, anyway.Mesina2 wrote...

I honestly never got why people dislike morinth for being a murderer, pretty much everyone on the team is a murderer and we don't judge them for it
They're easily manipulated. They see how Morinth's actions hurt Nef and her mother, so they hate her. If they saw all the broken homes and hearts caused by Samara, Jack, Thane, and Garrus, they'd hate them too. (Well, maybe not Garrus)

Context, I suppose. Jack is the character closest to Morinth, but even she seems to kill more in self-defence than for pleasure (even with the drug issue she mentions on Pragia). For everyone else, it's a job, or duty, and the people they kill tend to fall into societally-acceptable deaths. Mercs, slavers- Shepard and Co tend to kill reactively in team. Garrus and Samara are law enforcement (or former, in the case of Garrus) and Thane was moulded into a killing machine. And even then, with Thane, he infers that he took 'bad people' out for the hanar, not going after politicians or the like. Zaeed kills for money, but has some moral lines he won't cross like children. Morinth kills for pleasure, goes after civilians (which even Grunt doesn't seem too motivated to do), and she's more of a seductress, so there might be a ****-shaming point.

For the most part if they can avoid needless slaughter it seems that Samara and Garrus will do so, even Jack if left alone would never have really bothered anybody. They all have their issues but they don't just murder for the sheer pleasure of it.

It's kinda hard to like a murderer that kills people do to addiction for power.

@thatguy212: Morinth kills because she's sick. She's addicted and at this point can't help it; she's a very tragic character and I can't actually blame her entirely for what she does, even if it's absolutely disgusting and horrible. Garrus, on the other hand, is downright nasty--he kills based on his own perceptions of right and wrong... or for revenge. I honestly should despise him for that, as in my opinion he's a worse monster than Morinth, even if every person he kills completely deserves it. But again, he's one of my favorite characters of all time.

I think the thing is is how unrepentant Morinth is about it.
Jack and Thane aren't repentant about their misdeeds either.

@Saphra Deden: I never found Samara boring. She's lived a fascinating life, and even without her tales of past adventures, deep personal conflicts, or incredibly unconventional lifestyle, I'd enjoy talking to her just to listen to that lovely, soothing voice of hers and gawk away at Dem Eyes.
Well good for you. Different strokes and all that. Her voice is soothing, too soothing. Samara puts me to sleep.

Garrus has never murdered a teenaged girl to get a pleasure kick. Garrus kills criminals, he might be extreme in that task but we've never had any instance of anything approaching the cruelty that Morinth exhibits. He doesn't murder defenseless people who had the misfortune of crossing paths with him.
Morinth might be suffering from an illness but she was the one who chose to go on the run and she was the one that chose to start feeding off of people. I find her interesting but she deserves no sympathy, she's an outright sociopath.

I should have prefixed the whole Thane thing with 'this was how I saw it', so here's what I meant. As a freelancer, Thane has a definite moral code (he joins up in order to save 'innocents' and obviously went out of his way to avoid collateral damage during the Tower mission), and while working for the hanar, he seems to go after people who target hanar specifically, like the slaving operation mission that ultimately culminated in Irikah's death. He doesn't strike me as the sort who would simply take on any job for the credits; he has a particular set of standards that he abides by.

Is this board really so dumb that hating at least one character at person is considered somehow mandatory???

Sigh, like I don't know the answer...
