Yes because she knows he can't win, but she didn't give him the name. She never describes him as reckless or a murderer, he's idealistic - how does that tie in to him a being a murdering lunatic?

It doesn't feed into your bloodlust point and it doesn't deny the fact that Garrus says the name was given to him for his good-deeds, he has a squad of people who've rallied behind him and

I'm not making anything up. Find me somebody who calls him Archangel who isn't a merc out for his head or a hostile Omega-based News Agency and I'll relent.

You won't though, because there is nobody. The only people who ever call him Archangel are people who want him dead. Garrus calls himself this once and he does it while wilting as he admits to what he's been doing on Omega. There are any number of ways to read that scene and so far it looks like sarcasm to me.

Sampling bias, baby.  For that very reason, you can't say that he is hated.  In fact, he could be very well loved by the folks that he was helping.  Sure as hell that I wouldn't name that a-hole vigilante "Archangel" if I thought he was just an a-hole vigilante, though, so I doubt he was given the name because people didn't like him.

As for reading the line there, it seemed more like a mix of pride, shame, and mild embarrassment to me.  If there was sarcasm, it would have been, "Gee, I sure did myself a lot of good today, way to go, get your whole damn team killed..."  YMMV.

So since we are talking about squadmembers, can someone explain to me why some people are already hating on James Vega? we know almost nothing about him and have a hard to make out concept art of an alternate outfit of his and some are complaining about how horrible of a character he is

It's the only sampling available. We did meet people who weren't mercs and who weren't criminals. They had a favorable view of the mercs. So far there is no support what-so-ever for the notion that Garrus was given the name by the oppressed citizenry of Omega. None.

But again you're making that up, you're interpreting a situation but without any evidence to actually back that assertion up and now the crux of your argument is drifting away from its original point.

I already know Garrus started something he didn't know how to win, that's what did him in. You started off saying he was a bloodthirsty maniac.

Show me the line wherein somebody directly states the Archangel name is a mocking title, show me the line where he's shown to be the bloodthirsty maniac you described. Show me one example where during his time on Omega he's shown/stated/whatever to be as much a destructive influence to the people of Omega as the gangs?

Just one.

Because I've pointed to several direct lines that describe Garrus as idealist fighting for the side of good, somebody who people saw as a savior from the misery of gang rule. Somebody who was distinctly not a maniac using the chaos of Omega to slaughter people in a bloodlust driven frenzy.

Not really.  It's just Saph demanding a debate again.

@thatguy212: Some people just don't dig space marines, man.  And others are a bit over-protective of the old cast, so they hate on the new guy.  I say, bring on the space marines, especially if there is a man-on-man possibility in there somewhere.

Actually, come to think of it, we did.  We got that letter from Mrs. Butler, and we heard about the Blue Suns shaking down people for money in the residential districts.  However, keep in mind that the game can't show you everything, so a little inference is necessary.

Like in ME1, you never saw the Quarian Flotilla, but did that mean Tali made it up?  Do Ashley's sisters not exist?  We never saw that mega-consciousness the geth are supposedly building, so is Legion BSing?  I mean, come on; imagining the rest of the ME universe is half the fun!

Mrs. Butler is biased is she not? We don't even know where she lives.

We never heard about the Blue Suns shaking anyone down for money. They demand pay to provide security, yes, but I think that's quite reasonable.

FYI: the Police don't work for free either.

@AdmiralCheez about Archangel.

Well if you live on Omega, I think you would call him like that. I mean, Garrus have them some protection from that lawless sh*thole.
And I'm sure that people are used to violence there. Just this is first time someone is doing that for people and no personal gain.

As for the James Vega? People need to get their horses calm.
We know nothing about him yet, with exception of his name and that he doesn't know much outside of Alliance which can make Shepard a tutor.

Replay Mordin's recruitment mission.  Look for the little apartment with the dead batarian.  Listen to his journal.

So is Mrs. Butler biased or not? You are the one who started dismissing examples as selection bias.
