I like everyone to varying degrees. Except for Morinth, just because I've never saved her.

The squadmates, I mean.  Sure, I like some more than others, but there's not a single one I hate or am completely bored by.  Yeah, I started out completely turned off by certain characters, but after spending so much time getting to know them, I find it hard not to get attached.  I also think each one is useful in his or her own way on the battlefield, even if some of them aren't as powerful or versatile as others.

Anybody else feel this way?

SUBFORUM RELEVANCE: I look forward to seeing everyone again in ME3 and wonder if I'll wind up loving everyone again the third time around.

Me too, x1000

They're not my crew.  They're my family.

Troll.

Hey man, he's a normal guy, speaks his mind, and is the only LI that actually says he loves you.

Also, some of his lines make me giggle.  They're so bad they're good, you know?

I agree with this. Jacob is simultaneously the worst and BEST romance in the game and its great that he can pull that off and I think he's a better character than people give him credit for. He's memorable if nothing else.

Though as a FemShep your mileage may understandably vary.

I liked him as a character quite a bit.  He makes a good bro for maleshep.  Besides, we need at least one well adjusted individual on the squad.  Everyone else is damaged goods on some level, Shepard included.

@AdmiralCheez you can teach Garrus that what's he doing is wrong.

Morinth just has no redemption.

Even with Garrus, it's different than Morinth.  On some level, Garrus may not know any other way.  He apparently didn't get along well with his father and rebelled.  He may make some wrong choices, but evil does not rule his heart and soul.  That is not the case with Morinth, however.

@thatguy212: Morinth kills because she's sick. She's addicted and at this point can't help it; she's a very tragic character and I can't actually blame her entirely for what she does, even if it's absolutely disgusting and horrible. Garrus, on the other hand, is downright nasty--he kills based on his own perceptions of right and wrong... or for revenge. I honestly should despise him for that, as in my opinion he's a worse monster than Morinth, even if every person he kills completely deserves it. But again, he's one of my favorite characters of all time.

Garrus has never murdered a teenaged girl to get a pleasure kick. Garrus kills criminals, he might be extreme in that task but we've never had any instance of anything approaching the cruelty that Morinth exhibits. He doesn't murder defenseless people who had the misfortune of crossing paths with him.

Morinth might be suffering from an illness but she was the one who chose to go on the run and she was the one that chose to start feeding off of people. I find her interesting but she deserves no sympathy, she's an outright sociopath.

I agree.  I might not agree with some of Garrus's methods, but I've yet to see him kill anyone that hadn't earned it in some way.

I like pretty much all the characters, all have good and bad points to their characterisations and story arcs. If anything I might feel apathetic about those who aren't on my favourites list, but that's about it.

I feel a bit sorry for Morinth, she was the first Ardat-Yakshi of the family, ergo not knowing she was one until melding with her first partner.

Her first love. Dead, because of her own fault.

At the contemporary time though, she's past the moral event horizon. So no qualms about choosing Samara over her.

While I don't love every character equally, and there are a few I really don't care for much at all, I do enjoy the variety that is present in the game as a result of the inclusion of all these characters. I can role-play a given Shepard in a very specific way largely through his/her interaction with these people. I have Shepards who feel that the lawful characters are kindred spirits, and others who are drawn to the chaotic types. I have Shepards who are uneasy around aliens, and others who are less comfortable dealing with fellow humans. I have Shepards who show gender bias, others who seem oblivious to it. So go team!

Back on-topic: A while ago, I got tangled in a YouTube comment fight over Tali being a weak character and too popular. This guy says something along the lines of, "they can't take a strong-willed woman, so they go for Tali."

And I was confused. Becaus I like Ashley as much as I like Tali. And Ash is as strong as they come.

I don't get why people say Tali isn't strong-willed.  During her trial, she proposed launching an all out attack on a ship FULL of Geth with a team of three.

Yes, she is a bit fangirl over Shepard.  So what?  That doesn't mean she's weak.  It just means she's got the hots for Shepard.

To be fair, she could just say "Send Shepard alone," and her point would still be made. Shepard is just that good.

I think the perceived weakness comes from how she behaves in the romance, i.e the "knee-weak fangirl who swoons and can't think or speak straight while in the same room as her idol"-idea. Of course, the last thing she'll think about in the blaze of combat is how much she digs Shepard, and more "How will I keep my suit from being ruptured, or more importantly, stay alive?"

Tali has many character flaws (as any good character does), but weakness is not one of them. If she had been weak, we wouldn't have had her in our ME1 party, and TIM would never have given Shepard the suggestion to recruit her in ME2.

The only character I don't like is Zaeed becuase the game is actually more fun without him and his LM is just terrible. Other than that I like everyone but have high expectations for "team dextro" that they have yet to meet.

I do like my crew. I dislike Miranda because of her die-hard loyalty to Cerberus, and Zaeed is a murderous thug. Still, that's why we have character development.

Everyone else has their strength's and weaknesses, and I hope to see them all back in ME3. Yes even Jacob, who brings some sanity to the team.

Morinth is an awesome character, and so is Samara, it's almost a shame the game "Virmires" them. But they are anathema to one another. Saving Morinth makes no sense unless Shepard is some kind of psychopath, luckily I have a Shepard who IS just such a woman, and I have a Morinth-lives savegame. I'm looking forward to how her character is handled in ME3.

A lot of the "read-between-the-lines" content of ME gets skipped over by most players. Romanced VS dealing with their lost in-between ME1 and 2, Kaidan and Ashley's past and present, Mordin's faith, Joker's apparent sociopathy (?), Kolyat's betrayal, Nef's lost potential. Most characters in both games have deep and rich backgrounds. You just have to use a little imagination.
