Will there be some possibilities for modding in ME3? Access to console window like in ME, or will need to add changes to a coalesced.ini file? As we have done on these forums ME2 - Modding is Possible I - III (PC Only).
I really do hope BioWare open for modding!

I doubt we'll get any official modding support from Bioware, but I'm sure that there will be an active modding community here on the BSN like there was for ME2.

No doubt. But it's nice if they open the access to the console window.

indeed, would be nice to be able to mod more heavily than currently.

Mods can make subsequent playthroughs interesting.

As far as I know ME3 didn't see radical engine changes comming from ME2, so the basics are probably the same. I guess we'll be able to fiddle around with the coalesced.ini again.

EA/BioWare can't do that on their own though. It would be up the console manufacturer to make an infrastructure that supports modding.

Inge was referring to the command console in game, not the Xbox/PS3 gaming console.

So you've found a way to access the console window in ME2?

Maybe they could allow it if you have played a minimum of # numbers of games without modding

Out of curiosity: why? There are a lot of games (ME1 and ME2 included) that I've only replayed because I was able to tweak certain things more to my liking.

mass effect series uses the unreal engine - you can mod that to your hearts' content with their UDK, but BW licensing the engine doesn't necessarily include being able to support modding. besides, that's what selling you dlc replaces...

It makes the game more interesting. You can see at this clip, plays as Adept with a few extra powers.

Exactly, you change the game for you liking.  This liking often means, make it easyer for you to play the way you like. I consider that cheating. Developers could do something more usefull, than this.

That's why, it's my personal opinion.

Well **Cough** cheats (resources, squad recruitment order, ect.)**Cough** are not all that is available to mod. Aesthetic's are available too.

Here are some of the other things possible without "cheating" the game:
Recolored squad outfits & loyality outfits.
Recolored weapons.
(A lot) More armor options.
[[(Grey territory)]] Armor on Normandy. [[(Grey territory)]]
Dress as a different species (Krogan, Asari, ect.)?
Change graphics well beyond in game options.
Recolor the subtitles.

just allow me to have the bodies stay dead for more than 3 seconds and I'll be happy. My sense of immersion threatens to shatter every time I turn around real quick and the three bodies I just laid to waste have mysteriously vanished.

I was glad I had some way to change that in ME1, but then ME2 decided it needed to be impossible.

Mass Effect is a single player game I see no reason why modding shouldn't be available if it doesn't cause any extra work on BW's part when it can make the game more enjoyable for some and harms no-one.

I'd like to see this, since it's the last game in the Shepard trilogy it would be nice if they gave people the tools to play around with it afterwords.

So...I shouldn't enjoy the game as much as possible? So what if I modify the game, it doesn't hurt anyone and it makes it more fun for me. For example - I edit ME2 so that all weapons have infinite ammo. Is it cheating? Sure, but it makes the game more fun to me and more importantly, brings it into line with the weapons in ME1.

At the end of the day this is a single-player game, so it's up to the individual. I'll also note two more things.

1. The devs are not Gods. they don't know everything, and don't always make the best decisions
2. Modding allows us to fix mistakes in the game. If you note in my sig, I fixed the M-29 designation 'bug' that Bioware have never bothered fixing

I got two counterpoints to that:
1. As far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as cheating in a singleplayer game, as there's no one to cheat. Any condemnation of me adding, changing, or removing things in my singleplayer is thus frankly ridiculous.
2. Development time is a better argument. Though it's not like we're asking for a toolset, or something. Personally I'm already happy if the game's files aren't locked away and we're able to edit them. That really shouldn't take more time.

Edit: Somewhat of a crosspost with Captain Obvious there. I did not intend this as a dogpile, my apologies.

I personally felt that despite the inability to access to the dev console ME2 had greater 'modding' accessability. At least more things could be edited through the .ini file than in ME1. I hope it at least remains that way and doesn't take a step backwards.

I'm not holding my breath for .pcc editor/compiler (which I'd LOVE), but sure, I agree, the access to dev console would be an awesome addition, and isn't too unreasonable a request.
