Hey. I think some of of you (like me) have more than 1 save playthrough. Since Mass Effect 3 is the final game, I want my first play through to be with no regrets (if possible, it was when I first played ME2). Technically, I have one character that has done everything and I'm happy with all my choices. I have been using the same character since 2007 and he has done everything in both games and reach the highest levels blah, blah, blah, the only differences between the three saves is his LIs— The first playtjrough I moved on with Miranda, the other one stayed loyal to Ash and the other save I moved on with Jack. So, I'm curious for those of you with different playthroughs and with different variables in story descision than what I have— which one of your Shepards are you choosing, why? Do you choose based on your first playthrough? Its a broad question, I know, though I'm trying to see how others with multiple saves decide which save they'll import for their first time they get into the game.
What is your criteria for choosing your save file for ME3?

I've lost my playthroughs so many times I no longer have my "original". I have one Vanguard at the moment that screams "ME". Thats considered my canon Shep and will be my first playthrough.

My first playthrough is my canon Shepard, so I will be choosing him to play ME3. Why? It's not the same experience when you play it the second time. My second playthrough will just be all about making the right choices, and now I will probably know what will lead to what, so it isn't as exciting as the first one. Yeah, maybe many will die in my first playthrough, but this is war we're talking about, so there has to be sacrifices, without choosing load save or something.

My first playthrough will be with my very first Shepard: a female paragon Soldier. She has differing choices than my later Shepards that I will use later when I want to do a "perfect" run.

I have a main Shepard, who follows my morality. Curiously, I always assumed I was an 'ends justify the means' kinda person, but it turns out I'm pretty much the opposite when faced with decisions in Mass Effect. He was my second Mass Effect playthrough (after my Xbox red-ringed and I lost my original one).
I have several other Shepards, but to differentiate them from my true Shepard they're all female, and cover a range of moralities.

I will use my main Shepard, John, Soldier, Earthborn, Sole Survivor, default face, mixed alignment, romance Liara and stayed loyal. This Shepard has a 100% completion of everything and the choices I liked the most and that's who i'll import first.
He's not my original Shepard though, original was a Paragon who romanced Jack and lost all the Crew but chakwas in ME2, I've long lost the save file though.

I don't really have a main shep out of my 16 Sheps that I have, but the first one I'll most likely import will be my 'worse playthrough' Shep, just to see if it is going to be the nightmare that I think it will be

I have eight Shepards, four male and four female. I will eventually play them all through ME3, but the first one will be the one I identify least with.
Yes, you heard right. Least. For I want to write my favorite Shepard's story as I see fit as far as the game lets me. I want to write the story from the kind of end I want to achieve, and for that I need to know the consequences of my decisions. I'll live with any non-optimal decisions and will reproduce them, but I will make those big decisions necessary for the end I want to get. So my two favorite Shepards will only be played after one or two others.

I'm hoping someone comes out with a save editor fairly quickly so I can edit all my choices without having to replay or find a save file online. I'm also hoping that it includes all choices possible.

Before the Arrival DLC I did everything in ME1 (that was available to do) and the same with ME2. Completed all missions, DLL etc and basically got a save i'm happy with.

I've got several characters ready for import into ME3. Some characters made decisions that (should) make ME3 more likely to end in a proper victory. I suppose I'll start with that character. However since I want at least one 'perfect' playthrough (for ME3 that simply means as good as it can be, not zero losses or something) it might be a better idea to save the character with the best chances for such a playthrough until last. First playthrough never quite works out as I intended.
Thankfully there's still 9 months left to solve this dilemma...

I don´t like to think of a game as a "canon", because every Shep has his/her own story!
But my "main" Shep, is my second one I played in ME2 (NG+), where I did everything right ( as in the whole content, in my first playthrough I missed some things ^^)!
That will be my first playthrough on ME3 ;D Vanguards FTW!

My very first Shepard sounds like fun. He's a Vanguard and did a lot of things in which I was not really sure if I picked the "right" option, like destroying or reprogramming the heretic geth or keeping the genophage data.
My canon Shepard is a well-thought out Paragon, though.

It's been ages since I played ME1. I have no clue what decisons my (4) Sheps made at the time. I hope those comics can also be used like a "previously in Mass Effect" way
I think I'm going to replay ME1 and ME2 about a month before ME3's release anyways.

I think I have 5 Shepards I'm happy with and completed. The one I'm importing first is my Sentinel. The 2 reasons are because I'll have the ability to learn the game well with a "caster" class first time through. And 2nd, since the VS is getting preferential treatment and this guy stayed loyal to Ashley might as well start the game with an advantage. My canon where Miranda is the LI will be played second, fixing what "I got wrong" the first time through and getting to see the Renegade side of things.

I will import my canon Shep first. After that, the only real difference between playthroughs are the romances and I plan to import in the order in which I like them. Unless, of course, a romanceable character has some sort of pivotal role that makes me change my order.

I have at least 1 save of each class, with differing backgrounds and moralities. They will all get a run through, as well as a few more I might make up to mix and match for different experiences.

I will also be taking my "canon" Sheperd as well. I made another went I first played as it was okay; however, the game felt totally different as I saw things I hadn't before when I imported my character from ME1 (Wrex! I thought I killed him in ME1) There's the feeling of a continued story when you import a character.

I lost all my ME2 playthroughs, so I'll need to go back and do one. Actually I'll do three one no romance one with a romance to see if it's different and one female.

I'll start ME1 again a few weeks before ME3 is released for one epically epic playthrough.
