There is one savegame specifically and nearly scientifically designed to be a "Charlie Foxtrot" save.
It's a save in which I made every decision in ME1 and ME2 to be as detrimental as possible. Every choice meticulously analysed and chosen to have an as negative an impact on the galaxy's chance of survival in ME3 (or so I hope!).
Even choices that seem minor or frivolous like for example the public appearance of Shepard (do Khalisah al-Jilani interview giving only neutral answers, looking like a lame duck as a result and not punching her).
I'm taking that one in first and I'm hoping for fire and brimstone.
After that I'll be working my way up through the previous saves up to the "ideal" save.
What is your criteria for choosing your save file for ME3?

Have a lot of playthroughs: both genders, different moralities, several backgrounds... Everyone gets a turn...
My VERY first playthrough, however, will be my "canon" character, who also happens to be the first one I led through the ME universe (thus taking decisions without knowing the outcomes)...
It's a paragon vanguard male!shep named Adrian using the default face (didn't dare to try and customize on the very first run), not all his decisions were perfect, but I did what I thought was right and I am pretty happy with how he turned out...
In ME2 he managed somehow to save everyone of his squaddies from the SM, but lost half of the crew to reaperification sadly (didn't yet know about the mission limit)... Oh well, I'm glad I didn't lose more... :/

I made a male/female renegade shepard. and a male/female paragon shepard, and a shep that would say what I would say and do what I would do. My male paragon shepard is the default settings.
It's actually kind of fun. I've got everything covered and I'll get to see the different playthroughs.

Two of them, I can't tell which one I'll import first.
"Me", being the Renegade playthrough.
100% Paragon except for Collector Base.

Yeah I play my virgin playthrough first, then all the classes to find the renegade/paragon variables, then I play my perfect playthrough.

I'll copy/paste from another thread I posted in. Interesting reading about other peoples Sheps and why they are canon and such.
Anyway . . . .
My canon Shep is default by appearance, name and backstory (Earthborn, Sole Survivor) and he's a "Paragade"
Out of my other three Sheps, one I made is original, the other two are from MassEffectFaces, some really good ones on that.
My four Sheps should have nearly every outcome I could need when importing to ME 3 i.e (Save/destroy base, rewrite/destroy Geth, save/kill Rachni Queen, Wrex dead/Alive) you get the point, oh and different romances and of course a pure evil and single Renegade Shep, he's a BIG fan of Cerberus and their ways and is currently making sure they have all the resources for ME 3 (Leaving David as the VI in Overlord, giving Legion to them, keeping the base etc etc)
Should be fun.
John Shepard - Canon, Paragade
Sebastian Shepard - Paragon with a small hint of renegade in him
Rico Shepard - Renegon
Joseph Shepard - Renegade, loves Cerberus and all they stand for. Looking to kill all of his crewmates on the SM except Zaeed and Jack.

Yea getting to level 60 then doing a 100% completion run ME1 while also making my original choices was a nightmare. I never want to play ME1 again although I probably will. ME2 was no problem as I STILL love playing it.Tigerblood and MilkShakes wrote...

I've lost my playthroughs so many times I no longer have my "original". I have one Vanguard at the moment that screams "ME". Thats considered my canon Shep and will be my first playthrough.
damn that sucks to keep losing them.

i have several saves, but i will play ME3 for the first time with my canon story, which consists of my first play-throughs of both ME1 and ME2. I tried to make this shepard look like me (plus 30 lbs of muscle of course) and make the decisions i would make, for better or worse.

I have 9 Shepards, and I'll be playing ME3 with every single one. I do have my "canon" first playthrough that I play as me and have played every DLC first with, although through redesigns of my other Shepards a few things are different from the very first time (e.g. first time she romanced Jacob, now she's with Thane). But I've tried to stick with the major decisions and mistakes I made on my very first playthrough, like Tali and Mordin getting killed.

As many here have stated, I'll be playing my "canon" Shep first. I've played her in ME1 and ME2, many times, trying to refine her character through her choices right down to certain dialogue options. At the end of the day, for me, she's the star of the show and I don't care much for the rest of the galaxy. What matters is that ME3 end on a note that fits right for her. The same goes for my other Sheps, but she goes first.

My canon which is the first Shepard I ever made in ME 1.

My canon is a paragon Vanguard, first character I ever made and has an odd universe, with the humans having taken control despite my non-racist character. I'm just going to do what seems like the right choice (to the character) Which will involve a lot of death, as I don't look up how to do things in the game before starting :/

It's a pity, that we will not have a chance to chose class in ME3 after using save of ME2... than i need to play about 5 or even more times again + different char options (renegade/paragone) etc... hard work...

It will be my canon renegon adept, who saved everyone, killed the heretic geth, saved the rachni, etc. She's my no bulls--t character and the one who's most invested in saving the galaxy.

My first character in ME1 with was also my first through ME2, and will be for ME3. She's the one I try to play naturally and avoid meta-gaming, and while she's ended up a Paragon, she has a pretty mean Renegade streak and is always the most fun to play.
My real dilemma is whether I'm going to play my pure paragon or competent renegade second. My first playthrough should help decide, though. My neutral Renegon playthrough will be last (unless I finish another playthrough in the next 9 months).

I started over because I missed a few missions (finishing Conrad's namely) and I got Fist killed on both my Renegade and Paragon profiles and just found out I could keep him alive a few months ago so I started over for the 2nd time. On both those profiles I want to keep everyone that can be kept alive, alive because the more people alive the more potential for them to do something great in ME3. Namely, more enemies heh I am also thinking of having multiple variations for certain choices which would be a pain in the ass to have that many files. My Paragon file looks like me because I am a good man and Renegade Shep is the default Shepard. Besides the Paragon and Renegade files and the possible spin offs, I have the everyone dies, Tali gets exiled and dies, etc etc with all the worst possible choices file I started months ago called C.(Captain)Superman. Anyone who knows that reference gets a free dinner

I'll get the playthrough with the highest percentage of completion; that would be my canon character.

I have to finish ME2 with the majority of my Shepards before I can think about which one I want to import first. I have a bad habit of randomly deleting Shepards and creating new ones for no apparent reason.

My serious ones are my Sentinel paragade and my Adept (will switch to Vanguard in ME3 if possible) renegon. I think Sentinel is a great class to go start ME3 because it's extremely well balanced with reasonable combat skill. Vanguard should be fun for a more aggressive play later on.
After that, I have a "Troll" shep that I did for fun. No purpose other than just pissing people off, and I built a fun class (Engineer w/ Dominate). Once I determine another fun build, I'll bring that one back for another round of trollan.

Technically your 1st playthrough should be your main guy... b/c you made choices that you didn't know the consequences of... Whether you screwed up or not on your 1st, I would still use him b/c he's the original... On others, you might have made choices you didn't want to make, but ended up making b/c it had the best result... I'm not like that... Stick with the 1st guy...he's the original and the choices you made with him/her is the most genuine...

Bringing in my first character Vyan, straight paragon Vanguard, and stayed loyal to Kaidan. She also will put a bullet into TIM's skull, good girl or not.
Second may be either the tranny Kyja (heavy renegade soldier who traded Liara for Jacob), or Lister (straight renegade Engineer, is a racist SOB, and traded Ash in for Miranda - yes only humans survived the SM). Then my others.
Last playthrough will be AJ "Ace" Shepard, straight paragon adept, who is saving himself for s/s in 3.

My XBox red ringed some time back, so lost all my original games....Now I just have the one Shep, his completed everything in ME1, all side missions, DLC's, etc...level 60....and will be ready with everything completed in ME2 also, including all DLC's....level 30...An Earthborn/War Hero Assassin Infiltrator...highest majority paragon, just a few small renegade decisions...no romance.

I have a BUNCH of sheps lined up for ME3... and more still to finish.
I have 11 360 sheps ready to go (With 4 more to finish)
3 PS3 sheps ready to go (with 2 more in the wings)
and 9 PC sheps ready for launch. (with only 1 more to finish).
So I have plenty to keep me busy until march...hopefully
