Here's my take: You take part in a (series) of missions that run concurrently with Shephard's story of ME3, but otherwise wholly removed from it. Basically, the storyline for co-op is 'survivor.'

The co-op experience could be a group of alliance marine's who are still on Earth (or close Earth orbit), undertaking a series of missions on the behalf of Admiral Anderson to which those missions could be pretty diversive to boot, from patrols to rescuing/evacuating civilians etc, etc.

And, to add to a sense of threat, you could have limitations - such as kill all the husks in a certain area, but you might not want to do it in such a fashion as to
a) Draw enemy reinforcements
or worse
B) draw the attention of an actual Reaper.

Why 4player co-op? It should be 3player to mimic Shepard's squad.

I agree. If there is going to be co-op it should be 3 players max. Or have 4 or more for CTF or Hold this position type gameplay. I wouldn't say no though. Seems like it won't happen but still a good idea.

Anything other than 1 player is simply not gonna work... Your either gonna be someone elses squadmates playing second fiddle to someone elses story or you're gonna have multiple shepards in the same game.

I wouldn't mind if it was a seperate game, Bioware should be considering it now though, there are more important things to worry about.

This topic is legitimate, but I'd rather shift away from ME3 in this regard and focus more on a multiplayer spin off.

In which case, I think it should work like Halo.

You can play it singleplayer, but its best if its in 4 player cooperative play.

One cool feature I'd like to see is if you are indeed playing 4 player co-op is that during dialogue(which there shouldn't be too much of in a multiplayer game but more than usual, it being a Bioware title) all four people can pick dialogue options from their respective characters.

Have the dialogue options based on a timer, so that in case a player is AFC/AFK, the dialogue moves on.

If you're playing by yourself, the other characters chime in with the standard dialogue they'd use in that situation. Otherwise, its up to the players playing as them.

As far as decisions affecting the World, I think that rather than dialogue options leading to the effects on the Universe, for a multiplayer game it'd be best if that was integrated with dialogue and battlefield decisions, for example going for an ammo supply house instead of an orphanage.

Branching stories and decisions can still be made possible through what is essentially a single and multiplayer experience.

Thing is, this type of project must be heavily tested, modified, and tested again before its ever sold to the public, and its best if this was its own project and not part of the main Mass Effect Trilogy.

If a game like this were to release, I'd buy it. Hopefully my friends would. If not, I'm sure I could grab some friends from here to join me. There are some lovely ladies and gents on the BSN who I'd love to share the Mass Effect experience with.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has kind of a similiar way to how the dialog works, but they use a point system from 1-100 and the one who gets the highest number says the chosen dialog of their character.

Though I still don't want any online features to ME3, but EA is the boss so...

Just as long as we don't get to play Shep & co. I wouldn't like to see 4 Sheps running around.

I'd rather it be that everyone chooses dialogue on their respective character than there being a roll.

This way, each character is his/her own. Its not simply another face on the same body.

Hypothetical situation incoming-

4 player co-op. Decision making time, there are two ways we can go, but we can't come back from wherever it is we travel. In one direction there's an ammo drop where everyone can reload and rearm themselves to continue the fight. In the other, there's a supermarket where everyone can stock up on food, but ammo is limited and there might not be any to find.

The following are just known characters I'm using in this example, none are superior to the others.

Player 1-Commander Shepard
Player 2-Ashley Williams
Player 3-Garrus Vakarian
Player 4-Urdnot Wrex

Situation 1-

Shepard-"Alright, where should we go? Personally, I vote for the ammo drop."
Ash-"I say the ammo drop. No sense in stopping for food if we don't have the ammo to continue the fight."
Garrus-"I agree, it doesn't make sense. Food serves us no good if we're dying from bullets rather than hunger."
Wrex-"I'm hungry."
Shepard-"Well, suck it up Wrex, we're off to grab some ammo. We're moving out."

Situation 2-

Shepard-"Alright, where should we go? I think we need some food. We're running low."
Ash-"Hmm, not a bad idea. I AM starving, and there's no sense trying to fight if we're all out of energy."
Garrus-"I don't know, I still think we should go for the ammo drop. We really need to keep fighting."
Wrex-"Gah, take a break, Vakarian. Lets eat, we'll fight later, whether we have ammo or not!"
Shepard-"Easy for you to say, Mr. I can charge at things and use biotics at any time. Anyway, pack up, we're headed to grab some meals."

^That dialogue, each line, chosen by a different player. Each character having his/her own set of dialogue options in any given situation respective to who they are, with the player choosing which one they agree with most.

I think it'd make for a rather interesting multiplayer experience. We can keep it story heavy while still keeping it very combat heavy and fun. No one's left out of at any point in time, and if there's ever a split decision between 4 players as to where to go or what to do, all that has to be done is leave the tie breaker decision to Player 1.

Sounds fun to me.

Fourth player could be EDI, and have to do a series of minigames to limit the number of enemeis/weaken them.

You have no idea how tired I am of modes like these.

But, its not up to me, and I can avoid it if I choose to.

But gah, I'd like to see more multiplayer games without "No-win" modes where you just shoot till you die.

Stand alone campaign like in splinter cell. They could tell another side of the story through co-op. Like what Cerberus is up to or what Anderson is doing on earth. But from what I gather it's really a horde mode which is stupid. They could do something really interesting but they're putting in horde mode.

I think that it would be amazing if they could pull it off. I have a few peeps I would do missions with. I think that having real people instead of AI controlling Miranda etc. would be really amazing. Thery can run and duck and hide and all of that - and high stakes missions / harder difficulties would be a real challenge. There could even be co-op based bonuses and weapons and armor - etc.

Sadly, I do not think it could happen. It seems impractical unless you have your own clique. Not to mention - what do you do with the baddies? While it would be really cool to play the game with your pals in the same game, it does not seem reasonable.

The only way co-op would be acceptable is if it's for another game in the ME universe. Two year development for ME2 and not too many are happy with what happened. Two year development for ME3 and co-op is featured? I'm supposed to believe it'll be great?

Besides, they've already denied it.
