So... how do you think 4player co-op could be acceptable?

My best guess is that this feature will be added in the future, after the March 6th release date. It will be a Gears of War Horde Mode style.

I do believe that Bioware is already working on the multiplayer dlc. What I most fear is that the multiplayer dlc will come out after the games release date. With this being said, fans will most likely have to pay for something that is already on the disc. The dlc won't be a full download, but more of a unlock code. Resident Evil 5 did the same thing and I hope Bioware doesn't mimic this.

How about as free DLC after launch?  Like with Firestorm/Hammerhead.  Minus the suckage.

That is actually not totally fair.  The art team did a fine job.  That DLC was pretty to look at if nothing else.

This sucks to say but rather if it's free or I have to pay for it, I'm going to get it. I just hope I don't have to pay for an unlock code. I really like Bioware and I know they like their fans, so I hope Bioware doesn't pull a Resident Evil 5.

Side note, I would love to see multiplayer in Mass Effect. I think choosing a race and playing as someone other than Shapard, (and that weird part where you were playing as Joker) would be really fun. I believe that down the line a MMO will have to come out. This universe is just to big to not make one.

As for ME3, I cannot see anything other than a Horde mode style of gameplay. And I pray it is a free download ( that is of course if they are working on it now and not after the launch of the game.)

Lets all be real here, Bioware delayed the game because of multiplayer.

This Co-op feature would be 100% useless for me.

Co-op would be useless for me thats what other games and mmos are for and given the old republic will be out before this with any luck and, that would have my focus when I feel like playing with others, I just don't get the point to co-op for the trilogy maybe for future games but yea.

Just can't figure out why they would want this in if it turs out to be true.

Really? You don't like to play co-op with your friends? You didn't enjoy L4D1/2, Red Dead Redemption's co-op or Borderlands multiplayer?

Personally I loved all of those, and I'd love to see ME3 get a similar mode.

I think to be acceptable to me, it'd need the following:

1) 2-4 players, and the players can be replaced by bots rather than other players. Friends-only games have to be possible.

2) Pure co-op, in the sense that there are L4D-style "who got the most kills? who got the most headshots? etc."-type bits, but you're not actually trying to screw the other players - at all.

3) Entirely separate from the main game, or with "one way" feedback FROM the main game TO the MP, not vice-versa. No BS like forcing me to earn a weapon in MP to use in SP.

I'd also prefer that it was DLC after the release, rather than that they try and shove it out simultaneously.

I thought they delayed it because of kinetic.

No. If I was going to hang out with my friends, I would rather go out & party or play sports.

I don't think 100% useless feature much leaves interpretation.
I don't play single players games with my friends and ME serie is single player game.

That's circular logic, Lumikki. It doesn't make sense.

If that doesn't make sense maybe this makes.

I play MP games with my friends, but I don't play single player games with my friends.

Why?

Because single player games are ment to be played alone.
MP games are design for played with others.
Mixing both into same game, means both side are badly done.

I don't think the story based missions of the single player gamer would lend itself to any type of multiplayer -

So having it as a separate stand alone set of missions BUILT for co-op would work much better.

That said, I don't do multiplayer, so I'm not really to fussed - the only time I might nearly click on multiplayer is when I move the mouse between the New Game and Load Buttons.

I don't mind the idea, but most likely I will never use this feature. Forever alone.

If they want this 4 player coop I would rather it be dlc. That way if you want it you pay for it.

They might lose out on that deal.  I certainly won't buy it.  Even if they offered it for free I wouldn't download it.

Separate 4 player experience on earth during the invasion. As long as it doesn't take resources away from the single play experience.  Perhaps, as the final story co op mission, the players get to do something that tangentially helps shepard but are not mentioned by name in the single play experience "A squad of marines disabled the AA cannons..." ect.

Then why invest heavily into reconstructing a new online multiplayer dialogue system? That would probably cost a lot, development wise.

Because video game developers succeed in their field by taking risks and putting a lot of love and work behind their craft.

It'd be an innovative take on co-op. Much like the multiplayer of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood being very different from the usual multiplayer modes in other games.

Oh yeah-Dedicated servers.

If they release. Oh what am I talking about. There WILL be a multi-player game set in the Mass Effect universe, if not ME3 something else down the line.

If Bioware of all developers do not allow dedicated servers then you really know EA is putting the screws to 'em. No dedicated servers=no point. Might as well not show up to the fight.

i see a lot of back and forth about development and marketting in this thread about the idea of 4p co-op...But no one is really talking about the actual game.

what i'd like to know is, would it be fun?

Adding "Features" that make no sense gameplay wise,  just to have another marketing bullet point checked off isn't taking risks,  it's trying to be everything to everyone in order to sell more copies through buzzwords.

Taking risks is what 2K did with Red Dead Redemption,  an open world game in a genre that traditionally doesn't sell.

Generally speaking,  when you're checking off the PR department's bullet points,  you're not putting any love into your game.  Historically,  this ends with a train wreck of a game that people flame for years.

This subject brings this article to mind, particularly #5.

I love that site,  funny thing is,  they're more honest than the gaming press.

Those are games I play when I want a MP experience. ME is a game I play when I explicitly want a story-based SP experience.

Why take two delicious experiences and mush them into one making it gross?
