Just recently I've been going through ME2 again, on the PS3 (I have also completed a few times on 360). At first I absolutely loved the fact that main decisions could be changed, and am extremely grateful that the PS3 got that feature from BioWare and Dark Horse. However, the more I play the more I notice the little things missing. Odd phrases, some meetings, little bonuses like that. I know most of them are incosequential, but it's still quite jarring.

I know it's probably far too late for anything to be done, but I would really like an update for ME2 (for all systems) that basically adds a simple menu. When you select "New Game" a pop-up asks "Have you played Mass Effect 1", you can select yes or no. If yes it then takes you to an "Import or Recreate" screen. Obviously import would work exactly as it does (not availaible on PS3). Recreate takes you to a very long list of different possibilities. It would simply be like the options screen, Yes or No, and would include questions such as "Did you give Dr. Salion a chance to surrender?", or "Did Tali recieve any Geth data?".

People who haven't played ME1 won't know what half of it means, but it would allow those who have to easily set up a more indepth, personal experience.

The reason I put this in ME3 forum, is that I've heard that ME3 will play with ME1's choices far more than ME2, and theres some "canon" decisions that really don't fit. I'm worried ME3 really won't play how I'd like it to without those ME1 side missions and choices.

no, no, and no again. Those little details are that much greater because you know you've worked for them.

My point is that I HAVE worked for them, multiple times. I've played ME1 more than all my friends put together. Multiple characters in every class. I got ME2 and played it through multiple times. I've got 95% of Xbox Achievements in both games (including Insanity).

I ditched the Xbox because ME was the only series I was holding on for, and it came to PS3. I had both systems, but needed cash so sold the one I didn't need anymore. I think it's only fair that my time spent in ME1 (which is probably in the 100's of hours by now) is actually recognised.

.....We don't have that option, I'm not buying a new console just for 1 game even considering how much I love Mass Effect.

After reading up on the decisions that are auto made for the default game I I really have no idea what they were thinking. Why is it assumed that we would've renegaded our way through the last game? Honestly Its the only real problem I've found with Mass Effect....now I never get to meet Shiala or Conrad Vernor or Captain Kirrahe.

Bioware please give us an extremely long list option for choices in the future? or at least the option for the Default to be paragon not renegade... :(

well that is strictly speaking your problem. Not mine. I remain wholeheartedly opposed to this. Hell I was against the genesis comic from the start.

So your position is that you're against it because you're against it? I disagree entirely with being forced to assume my Shepherd was renegade for ME1 simply because it isn't available for my console. At the very least we should be able to pick a Renegade or Paragon past at the start of the game if we aren't importing.

I have, and it really bothered me that a lot of content was removed, shiala, the cop on Noveria and so on, so YES PLEASE, because i have put in the time and effort so why should i get the short end of the stick?

I'd like that. I hate it that they default to Renegade, because that usually means we miss out on stuff. I'd like a Paragon ME1 "import" to use. Maybe it could tie into the other choices, depending on how you lean there is which import you get.

I doubt we'll get it, though. But it would be nice.

I played ME1 on PC since it's not available for PS3 and I cant say that it has bothered me very much that some things are missing. From what I've seen, I don't miss anything important by not being able to import my save files. It would have been better to be able to set every little thing like I played it in ME1, but I think the comic is good enough.

It's always interesting when people try to argue without using arguments.

Why do people buy a second copy of Mass Effect 2? I will never understand this.

Agreed, i didn't feel like missing out at all, then agin, i mostly just played the main quests so i could learn the universe before going ME2.

What do we actually miss out on that is not included in Genesis?

It's mostly missing out on a few cameos and hearing about things you did and what happened after. But who knows what affect they will have for ME3

It's not that the default is meant to be renegade, it's to have as little ties as possible to the previous game.

I'm in your boat. After Xbox #6 red ringed on me I jumped ship and bought a PS3. ME2 is still a great game but you're right. The little "flavor" of ME1 is missing on the PS3 version. I was disappointed in the import comic because it would have been easy to create a more in depth interface to let you throw plot flags. Still it's truly a minor gripe. I still love the game and I'm not missing out on anything major, mostly just emails and some small cameos, the only one I really miss being Gianna Parisini.

If you have it on Xbox, and own both PS3 and 360, and then sell the 360 you're left with a copy of ME2 you can no longer use (and it was the only game I had on it, apart from Reach). So you trade the 360 one and get the PS3 one. Simple enough really.

Even if you can't pick every small decision that was in ME I, at least you get all the DLC for ME II.
A couple of small characters not appearing isn't that much of a problem compared to 30$ of content for ME II
