I completely agree. I have a feeling they're going to surprise us in how they're going to deal with the the love triangle and other challenges we have to face regarding LIs in ME3.

lets just say..... when it comes to Bioware, "Suprise" doesnt always mean they took the subject in the correct direction.
"SUPRISE! you can have a three-way, if you play your cards right!"
is not exactly the sort of suprise i'd want....

I feel the romances in ME1 were more subtle than ME2, which explains why I didn't realise ME had romances options at all having never played a Bioware game before (LOL I have now idea HOW I managed that one considering people talk a lot about 'ninjamancing').

I am definitely an old romantic as well Image IPB

Also the thing about earning it, friendships deserve that path as well as the romances.

yesh, compaired to previous games, i thought that romances in ME 1 were painfully hamfisted.... Honestly, I could point to it, and say the reason that you didn't ever run into the romances in your playthroughs... was because if you dont know they're there.... why would you care to try?

In previous games, (particularly remembering JE and KOTOR), you can flirt...shamelessly, really... almost from the get go... but thats all it is, being a goofy flirt. your party members basically roll their eyes or make some witty retort (something I liked about characters like Morrigan in DA).
it really wasnt until you'd gotten serious, and gotten to know them, that they warmed to you at all, on a personal level (in ME terms, they respected you as their commander, and they'd gladly follow you into hell.... but as a person, you had your life and they had theirs)

then, and only then... after you'd made an effort to prove you were WORTH getting to know better, did they start to show an interest in something more (in some cases, they even resisted their own impulses and desires, and fought their own feelings)

In compairison... in ME, those individuals slated to be LI's....basically fall at your feet. You talk to them enough, and you get to tumble with them.

....and it just isnt as rewarding an experience, no matter how racy the cutscene is.

What I want to see is interactions between crewmembers - ME2 NPCs felt locked away in their private worlds. Like the poker game between Tali and the other engineers, or Kasumi gossiping about stuff she saw. You could even implement game mechanics into the interactions - I'm thinking of Witcher 2 where you can arm-wrestle Zoltan and Dandelion writes your journal. For instance, you could have a bit where you help Tali fix something, or read dossiers written by Liara.

Personally, in that vein... I dont want my team to have their cubby hole anymore. I mean, it made sense for Jack and Miranda in 2... but for everyone else? Why couldnt I find Jacob and Garrus having a friendly argument in the crews quarters.... or tali and mordin in the lab working on improving her filtration unit....
you've got the elevator that tells you who is on which level of the ship.... just have it tell you who's where CURRENTLY, and have that list change from time to time...

why cant their be little inter-personal missions similar to the ice brandy or mess hall supplies... relaying information to various people (like the missions you'd get at one of the bars in ME 1 or 2, but on your ship, amidst your own people.)

anything to make the normandy feel more alive and fluid.
