I did in mass effect 1 and 2. I just change class and past history. I can never get a look or character that i think looks good all i get is ugly hofo's if i make him.
Am i only one who uses default look?

My pure Renegade Shep use the default appearance and default name.

Nope. I use Shepard's default appearance as well.
I only started using custom Shepards for female playthroughs in Mass Effect 2, with the introduction of face codes. I always use the default for male Shepard though, and will continue to do so in Mass Effect 3.

I use the default male for my "canon" playthrough, but custom male and female for my alternate sheps. I'm with you, OP, I just can't quite make them look as good as I want to.

My canon Shep is default appearance and name and backstory (Earthborn, Sole Survivor) and he's a "Paragade"
Out of my other three Sheps, one I made is original, the other two are from MassEffectFaces, some really good ones on that.
My four Sheps should have nearly every outcome I could need when importing to ME 3 i.e (Save/destroy base, rewrite/destroy Geth, save/kill Rachni Queen, Wrex dead/Alive) you get the point, oh and different romances and of course a pure evil and single Renegade Shep, he's a BIG fan Cerberus and their ways and is currently making sure they have all the resources for ME 3 (Leaving David as the VI in Overlord, giving Legion to them, keeping the base etc etc)
Should be fun.
John Shepard - Canon, Paragade
Sebastian Shepard - Paragon with a hint of renegade in him
Rico Shepard - Renegon
Joseph Shepard - Renegade, loves Cerberus and all they stand for. Looking to kill all of his crewmates on the SM except Zaeed and Jack.
Sorry for the wall'o text.

I always used the face creator. Never used the Sheploo or femshep.

I used the default male model for my first playthroughs. Since then I've settled on a custom appearance that's not too bad (just wish there more options for hair).

I find it boring to use him.

I used default faces for my first 2 playthroughs (one male, one female).
After that, I tinkered around a bit with the faces of my Paragon/Renegades (one male of each, one female of each) and I try to mix backgrounds/classes as much as possible. Now that I've seen those stats from that picture, I think I'll playthrough it once more with an engineer female, so the FemShep fans get a little more weight. (you know Bioware looks at those stats when making a game, hopefully it isn't too late)

I never used femshep (the idea is so illogical for me) or created a new male face. I like Shephard in that look.
But class thing is different like you said. Although Miranda says "Any change about you means Lazarus Project has failed.", i never chose Soldier class after first gameplay. It's so boring and not creative. Also Correct me if I'm wrong but class choice has no effect on story.

I always use the default appearance for male Shep. I have played around with the appearance on subsequent plays, but I like the default the best.

There's a reason why I have this sig as my support banner:

Though I do have six other Sheps, but Sheploo is in fact my canon and first Shepard I played with.

These statistics are pretty impressive considering most games only have like 20% completion rate on games and such a few statistic level for skipped conversations is even more impressive.
I do feel though they really do need to improve the face system because of it being so challenging to get right and the detail levels are not great.

I gave my Shepard orange hair. he looks awesome. But I also gave my Shepard a big nose. It looks okay from the front but from the side it looks huge. Oh well he is still bada**

I've never played with a default Shep, but I can understand the appeal of the default face. It took me hours before I was satisfied enough with my Shep to actually start the game.

I play as Sheploo. IMO he looks quite attractive. Plus, his facial features is the only one that works best. Yes, even Jane Shepard doesn't stand a chance.

I guess playing 66 hours mean "i have to deplete all the planets. All resources will be mine." I expected that challenge, but i got upset when I realised there was none. Lol, i actually tried that, but I failed when I blew up the whole system after Arrival mission. I wasn't expecting that and I had adjourned mining in that system while i was doing all work before missions in other systems. LOL epic fail.

Only for male Shepard. I can make some pretty damn nice female faces but every time I try to do a male Shepard he ends up looking derpy.
Plus, the default one has better textures.
