Only for my Renegade male shep. If only because I think the default looks more and more like an a-hole douche who takes it....

Never mind-forget I said anything.

Though after looking at the ME3 box art and such, I DO think he is looking more and more like some Eastern European pimp or gang banger or some such. Or is that just me?

I've only used custom appearances for my female Shepards (never really cared for the default look for femShep).... my canon Shepard, however, does use the default "Sheploo" appearance ( with his voice and my canon's background, a male solider with a Spacer/War Hero history, that appearance just seems to fit the best for me).

Waaaaaaay back in the old forums, I think they had a "paste your Sheppard pic" thread. This post reminded me of that. Surprised no one started another one up after they switched over to the new community forums.

Yeah, I remember the thread. There were some nice codes for us to try too but I always ended up with the default face for both male and female. It's like they're not really Shepard if I change the face. I tried, I have an ongoing run on ME1 with a custom shep but I ended up starting a new ME2 +game with one of my imported Sheps.

Default Sheploo uses unique face model, which is good , but i don't understand why not give FemShep also an unique face model. When i first played ME series i finished the games with Sheploo face, because customization options in ME is lacking of choices(especially nose)and i couldn't make a face, which was good enough for me.Sheploo face is pretty good tho, because it looks like a soldier.

Sheploo has better textures, Meer's voice really suits him and he was in all trailers, covers, etc - so he kinda feels like Commander Shepard.

They just need better skin textures, IMO. If they had that, our created characters would look less plastic.

I always use the default male Shepard.

In large part because the lower-quality facial textures you get when you customize - they make the character look like one of the generic NPCs.

Though I actually like the look of default Shepard - sometimes he looks too much like the pretty boy model they based him on (especially when he looks happy), but for the most part the face works for me. (though if I had my choice, I'd probably make him look like Sam Worthington, who I'm convinced would make the perfect Shepard if they ever make a ME movie)

And I have to admit, just about every time I see someone complain vehemently about how awful the default Shep is and post their custom avatar for comparison, I have to laugh... hideous, nearly all of them. I guess the people with better taste don't feel the need to show off their amazing face-building skillz. ;)

I played ME and my first 3 playthroughs of ME2 with custom faces (male and female). I preferred the structure of the face when I customized, but the textures are awful. If you mod you can really make custom faces look nice.

Nonetheless, after all those playthroughs, I used the default male face on a incomplete playthrough where I was just messing around with Engineer and it just felt right. Now I always use the default face for males. lol

Definitely agree. I wish Bioware would give FemShep a unique face model.

i've used the same customized face for so long (since my first ME1 play-through) that it has become the 'default' face in my mind. it was passable in ME1 and looks surprisingly good in ME2...or at least i think so.

I always use the default male Shepard.

It just looks more badass and iconic than any of the player made Shepards that I've seen, and many of the custom Sheps have looks that don't really fit the voice actor. Custom Sheps work better with Fem Sheps, IMO.

I'm all-out default. Male Shep is based on a real model in default so he has more detail and polish than any others in the game that we can use. Plus, since he is in the marketing since day 1, he just is Shepard to me. The voice was introduced as his and any other models using it look odd to me.

Mark Vanderloo is Shepard.

Always use the Default appearance for all of my male Shepards. Character Creation is a pain in the ass that requires dozens of hours to invest into.

-11 or so custom femsheps (though most are minor variations of one design I use as my "core" shep)

-Two default male shep.

-One custom male shep.

I can't make male faces that don't annoy me to look at for some reason. :pinched: Have never played default femshep before.

Custom Femshep and Default manshep.. I have no idea why, but I suck at making a manshep, so I stuck with john Shepard. I wish there was a easier way to customize.. like zooming in so I know what color eyes I chose, turning the head More to the side so I can see what I did.. etc..

I've never played a default Shepard, either Sheploo or "Jane" Shepard. I always create custom faces and character builds.

I used the default because I failed horribly at trying to create any male that was attractive. And since, I won't lie - I swoon for Sheploo. There I said it.

I always use the default looks as well, with one exception. Mostly because I don't want to bother with making a face myself, mostly because it usually looks crap. I'm not even completely happy with my one exception.
